“AAAmazing Family Holiday!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2013

We travelled with our 4 and 1.5 year old and while I barely remember Walt Disney World from my last visit when I myself was a child, nothing could prepare us for the truly magical experience of not only going to Disney World but staying there.
We had an incredible travel agent based in California - Carly at Small World Travel - and even though we were in Australia she scored us the best Disney deals. We were actually going to stay at Port Orleans (a moderate resort) but when a discount upgrade came through we snapped up the Wilderness Lodge. And we were so happy - beautifully themed resort and amenities, incredibly helpful staff, a short picturesque boat ride to the Magic Kingdom and reasonably regular fast buses to all other parks. We stayed just 6 nights and I am already planning our return visit for 12 nights - yeap, there is so much to do and see both in the parks and the resort itself that you could spend 2 weeks there.
The resort and restaurant is SUPER kid friendly, making you feel at home and welcome no matter how your kids are behaving - a total plus! The attention to detail and high level of service is what makes Disney so amazing, and admittedly it was sorely missed as we continued our trip through Florida, outside of Disney World.
I give this resort and holiday a 12 out of 10- nothing short of spectacular and worth every penny.

Spent 4 nights at The Wilderness Lodge. We enjoyed our time in the parks but loved the little free time we had at the Lodge. Room was perfect - 4th floor and lovely view of the pool. Holiday decorations were amazing! We ate breakfast at Roaring Forks every day - has something for everyone. Bus service was adequate but we preferred the boat to the contemporary and monorail to Magic Kingdom or transportation center for access to Epcot. Bus to Hollywood Studio was especially long but not that bad. Magic bands made purchasing food easy and print out statement itemized who made the charge and where.

Definitely recommend this resort!

This hotel is breathtaking when you walk in through the front doors! Particularly gorgeous during the holiday season! Good transportation, restaurants and amenities. Total immersion in the theme. You can actually feel 10 degrees cooler just by being here..even in the heat of summer! Absolutely perfect for couples, adults, kids and families! Don't miss the lounge..great food and drink!

Room Tip: Woods view is beautiful. Courtyard view is convenient to pool and restaurants.

Stayed here the weekend of thanksgiving! and it was perfect! Came into lobby went straight to check in, and since it was our son's first trip and my one son's birthday they upgraded us to the 6th floor with a view of the pool and lake. No waiting..and the room was Beautiful! We had reservations that evening for the Roaring Fork, and walked right over after checking in and had a fun dinner....the room was great, boys loved the bunk beds, and the bathroom was great. They may want to clean the spider webs from outside on the balcony, but as for cleanliness this was my only concern. Had to wait a little while to get our laughed deliver, but a call to the front desk got that solved fast. The decorations were spot on, such a perfect place to celebrate the holidays! Love the moose antlers in the decorations! My husband was impressed with their attention to details, even the font used was the same throughout... We enjoyed the hot tub at night after coming back from the long day, and the boys loved swimming outside since we are from the north this was a real perk at the end of November. No problems with the boat, or the buses! we never waited more than 10 minutes, and the captains were great. One man even took us from the Fort Wilderness camp to the lodge when we realized we took the wrong boat from the Contemporary late at night. We did get a little annoyed in the mornings with the long lines at the Whisp. Cannon cafe, but the food was good. we never got to the high end restaurant on site due to having young children, but heard good things! Oh, And if it is after closing at the WP cafe at night and you need bottled water you may be out of luck since the vending machines were out too. however a nice gentleman at the front desk gave us two cups of water from the office since we could drink the tap water there, it just tastes wicked. I recommend stocking up on bottled water in your fridge at the beginning!

If you are visiting Disney during the months of November and December and really want the Christmas lodge'y' feel, pay the extra money and stay at Wilderness Lodge. It is absolutely amazing decorated for the holidays. Staff is amazing, photopass photographer there for pictures in front of the tree, excellent food. Just an awesome hotel. And for those with 2 kids who don't want to sleep in the same bed....they have bunk beds!!!!

Thanks to Sherri Bockman Hall of TripGuy travel agency for getting me all set up and ready to go. We had a great trip!!!

My family just returned from an excellent trip to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. We have been to Disney many times, but haven’t stayed on property or during the Christmas season. Everything was perfect and the kids now have memories they’ll never forget.

The hotel itself is amazing, 5 story+ Christmas tree in the lobby, super friendly staff at check-in, and plenty of things to see and do at the hotel. The pool was fantastic and the kids loved the water slide. It was nice to see not one, but 3-4 lifeguards on while the pool was open as well.

We ate the Roaring Forks for some quick breakfasts and a late quick dinner and all our meals were better than your average takeout food. We also had a sit down meal at the Whispering Canyon Café that was really fun. The wait staff makes it a quirky time that the kids loved. Food also was very good and it is highly recommended.

Our room was very comfortable for the 4 of us and had a great view of the pool and lake. Washrooms were clean and it had all the amenities that we needed.

The best part was being able to just take a quick boat ride to Magic Kingdom and avoiding the parking lots!

First off, I have written many reviews on the Wilderness Lodge as this is my 8th time going and 7th staying Club Level-first time at Christmas as we usually travel the first week of May. We arrived on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend so we thought it would be very crowded but it wasn't too bad and we were brought right up to the 7th floor club level and greeted by the wonderful cast member Lindsay. We were staying 6 of us so had two rooms booked and were extremely happy that we received both requests-adjoining rooms and early check in! We arrived at 11 am so the early check in was great! We were in rooms 7052 and 7054 which actually have Magic Kingdom views - first time ever we were able to sit on our balcony and watch the fireworks while having a nice drink at nice. The cast members at the Old Faithful Club are amazing. Mike and Lindsay and Jenn are just awesome! We would not stay at any other club level hotel because we don't want to leave them! They really go above and beyond. It was my birthday and they had balloons and special treats in my room. We book through Small World Vacations - Deanna and she is the BEST. She got us all our reservations at our 6 month window and was able to get us our bounceback special with 30% off. It is really worth it to book with a travel agent. They do all the work for you! This hotel was beautiful at Christmas time and we did go to the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party which was great as well. Lots of fun for the kids -age 6 and 4. We will definitely be back in May as that trip is already booked - WL and Club Level. Cannot say enough great things about this hotel and Disney!

Room Tip: Club Level - 7000 side has Magic Kingdom views!
