“Wilderness lodge”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2013

We were upgraded from Coronado Springs to Wilderness Lodge and it was perfect for us. We had a room with bunk beds, which the kids loved, and a view of the bay. Otherwise the room was just a typical hotel room, but fine since not much time was spent there. We loved the log cabin theme of the resort, rustic and beautiful. It is small enough so you can easily take a short walk to the quick service restaurant for coffee in the morning, but spread out so it was not crowded. They had movies on the beach at night and roasting marshmallows, hidden Mickeys for rainy day fun, and a nice pool and slide. Everyone was very nice and friendly. The part that made the resort worth paying for was the boat that takes you to and from the magic kingdom. While others waited for hours after the fireworks for busses and monorails, with tired/crying children, we waited 10 minutes for the boat!!! It was worth it just for that feature alone. We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for business and would love to recommend it to all the travelers' visiting the city for business or leisure. Warm welcome at the reception, beautiful rooms, amazing services and yummy food is all enough for a great stay and this place offers you this all at affordable prices. My experience was awesome and I would stay here only whenever I am back in the city.

This review is several months delayed, as I stayed here with my family last November.

My husband and I are not really "Disney types", but with a four-year old, a trip to the land of Mickey Mouse was inevitable. Researching this trip was overwhelming for someone more used to planning outdoor excursions and road trips, but we finally settled on the Wilderness Lodge due primarily to its location. It proved to be an easy boat ride to Magic Kingdom, and an easy bus ride to the other parks that we visited.

The room itself was fine. Very clean and relatively spacious, though nothing super-special.

The rest of the hotel provided excellent amenities. Amazing lobby (all decked out for Christmas when we went), great outdoor pool, and generally pleasant grounds. It really did evoke the spirit of the old west. We were also able to use the microwave in the quick service restaurant (i.e. cafeteria) to heat up leftovers, which proved to be handy.

Would definitely recommend.

We have stayed at Caribbean Beach, Polynesian (3x), Grand Floridian (4x) and Yacht Club. This year we decided to stay at Bay Lake Tower, 1 br. However, after comparing prices w/ a highly recommended Wilderness Lodge we decided to book there. For the price of just BLT, Park Hopper and Deluxe Meal Plan, we got Club level, airfare, park hopper and Deluxe Meal Plan and a refund check for nearly $400. We were pretty unsure, but this was our most awesome stay at a Disney Resort. Wilderness Lodge blows all other resorts that we have stayed at away. The Club Level has wonderful, dedicated and friendly staff. We never even needed to eat breakfast bc the choices each morning were so good. We ended up not using nearly 8 of our meals, but not rushing to meals in the morning was so relaxing. We enjoyed the quick boat trip to MK and the buses were usually empty and came quickly. The hotel and grounds were super relaxing and the jet boats were a fun way to chill and have fun away from the park. The pool was nice, but the grounds were just so impressive. The hotel glistens at every turn and the carpets are fresh and new. The club level could have passed as for new construction it was that clean and new. The bed could be a little softer, but it was really just fine. I have been telling everyone that this place is the very best. I hope that if you decide to go here you enjoy yourselves just as much as we did. We are a family of four w/ two children aged 8/9.

I used the on-line check in prior to arrival. Upon arrival our check-in package was ready - which was just awesome. It included information on the hotel and our keys to the world. It was early so the room was not yet ready. We had a quick lunch in Roaring Forks and then made our way down to the ferry dock. Took a quick ferry ride over to Magic Kingdom. It typically took less than 10 minutes for the ride. I did receive a text pretty early on that our room was ready. When we got back to the resort later that afternoon, we headed up to our room. From other reviews posted on this site, I knew the negatives of the various rooms. Ours had three problems often cited. We had a connecting door to the room next door. Our room opened to the lobby and the room was above the front of the hotel so, we would probably get bus/car arrival and departure noise. I called the front desk to inquire if a slightly better room might be available and within 5 minutes we were moved to room 5028 - what luck - thank you, Disney. What a great room. We were close to the back elevator - which opens on the ground level near to Roaring Forks and the door to the pool and boardwalk to the ferry launch. We also had a nice view of the Wishes fireworks above the trees. You can't see the lower fireworks but can see quite a bit above the tree line. It was nice to sit on the balcony after a long day and watch the fireworks. The room was fine. The beds were comfortable. I liked having all of the pillows. The pool area was beautiful. You really feel like you are at a northwestern wilderness lodge when sitting at the pool and looking back at the hotel. The stream coming from the lobby and out to the pool and then out to the lake is quite authentic looking with the rocks and vegetation. And the geyser that goes off hourly is so cool. We went to the marshmallow roast one night on the beach. That was fun. Another guest told me they sell the ingredients for s'mores in the hotel store. Also, caught the movie on the beach one night. And the electric light parade is nice to see. It's a little hokey but cute. My daughter was a little old for the pool games in the afternoon but they were fun to watch. We took the ferry to the Contemporary Hotel one night in order to get the monorail to the Polynesian for dinner. That was fun and did not take long at all. We had luck with the buses when we were leaving the Wilderness Lodge to go to other parks but, we seemed to have always missed the bus to go back to the Lodge at the end of day causing us to wait about 20 minutes for a bus. The location is great for visits to Magic Kingdom and the theming makes you feel like you are really at a lodge in the Pacific northwest.

Room Tip: Room 5028 was on the quiet side of the hotel but conveniently located to an elevator that took you t...

This is our fifth time staying at the Wilderness Lodge in as many years and we already booked for December to bounce-back again! the Old Faithful Club (concierge level) staff are amazing. They made our stay so wonderful. The rooms have been redone and are very comfortable. The bathroom floor and tiling is all new and very cute! Loved it. The rooms are brighter and the beds much more comfy. I really cannot say one bad thing about this hotel after staying here five times. Honestly, they do not disappoint! As I stated, we already booked our return visit in December and have our dates picked out again for next May. This year we stayed May 3 to May 10th. Wonderful hotel..cannot recommend it enough!

Room Tip: Stay club level. it costs a little more but worth it!

I cannot express the relaxation that takes place at this resort. To hear the water running over the rocks while you recline in a lawn chair is absolute peace. We took my duaghter here when she was almost 4 and she had a blast. The slides are fun, hte pool is nice size, and the atmosphere makes it the best vacation. YOu can hop a boat ride to the magic kingdom, or stay at the resort and lose yourself in the great outdoors --- you will acutally forget you are in central florida!!!

Room Tip: ask for a woods view
