“Great Resort - Great Club Level!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2011

We have stayed at nearly all the Disney Resorts (from value to Deluxe) and can report that the Wildreness Lodge was wonderful!! We booked a standard room on the Club Level, the accomodations were very comfortable. The rooms are nice but don't expect to see the same furnishings in these rooms as you would at the Beach Club or Boardwalk Inn, after all the rooms are intended to resemble a lodge. Our room was located on the 7th floor it had a generous balcony which viewed out on to the courtyard with the streams, we also had a great view out to the left of the pool and lake. The best part about staying on the club level in my opinion is the Old Faithful Club which offers snacks, wine/beer/cheese/appetizers, desserts and breakfast options. The staff were running around to make sure everyone was taken care of, they weren't hovering or being annoying (which has been our experience at the Boardwalk Inn). They were prompt to refill the refreshments! The pool was very nice! One word of caution, watch out for the geyser- it is subject to drench you should the wind blow!

We'd been to the lodge before and though there's a lot to like about it - the themed decor, the lobby , the kid friendly restaurant, the bike riding - I'm afraid there are a few things I just don't like. Number one is the bedding and towels. The only word I can think of "yicky". Thin towels, thin blankets and old fashioned bedspreads that were scratchy and unpleasant.
Though the bed was comfortable and the room decent sized, bedding was just bad and really needs updating. Transportation, as reviewers note, is problematic too. They just don't seem to be on a schedule, and when asked if they stopped at the Floridian, the answer was decidedly "maybe". On the plus side, artist point is excellent and the boat to the magic kingdom quick and pleasant, albeit like everything else at Disney, there are lines. Overall, wilderness lodge is fine but please management, for the money, give us linens worthy of a deluxe property. Oh, and no 3G or wireless? Haven't seen an Ethernet cord in a major hotel in awhile.

First of all, if you can't enjoy this property, at Disney World?? the HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH??, I seriously question the individual and not the resort.

My family arrived from a 20 hr road trip for 6 jam packed days of magic. We arrived right at 3pm (check in time) with wife and 4 children 14, 12, 10 and 8. We were taken upstairs by the hotel manager to the club level. Wife and I were introduced to the club level concierge team. Both ladies did a great job of making us feel welcomed. Asked tons of questions about our kids printed pictures for them to draw and walked them over to the snack area while wife and I received hotel tour.

First room was on bottom floor on far side of hotel. View was non existent. Trees and shrubs only. Pretty disappointing. We called the front desk to ask for an upper floor and within 20 minutes received a phone call offering a different room. This room was in the main tower on the 6th floor. The view was priceless. Overlooked the bay, geyser, beach and pool. Again, nothing better than feeling the breeze off the lake at night and waking up the water and trees each morning. Insist on a bay view. It's worth the money!!!

The resort itself has enough to consume your vacation. Two of the most memorable amenities were (1) The pool. I'm not usually a fan of public pools, but the pool was clean, lots of lifeguards, plenty of lounge chairs etc. great for families. (2) Club level service. What better way to power up before or after a day of Disney theme parks. Light breakfast in the AM, snacks in the afternoon, appetizers in the evening and desserts shortly thereafter. This was a must. The only regret was not having enough time to take advantage of all the hotel has to offer. Boat rental, watching Cars or Beauty and the Beast outside under the stars each night, great arcade, and much more.

The only, I repeat only real complaint was no internet service. REALLY???? Disney come on. We paid an unGODLY amount of money for this trip and it was well worth it, but 10.00 per night for internet at a DISNEY property should be considered a crime.

Book this hotel, pay the dough. Your children like mine will remember it for the rest of their lives.

Room Tip: WF restaurant is extremely overpriced.

Our stay at the WL was a great experience! Not sure what the negative reviews are about. We arrived at 9:30 AM on May 15, 2011, and they had our room ready! Double beds were great for my boy/girl twins. They pool was fun, the staff was ALWAYS courteous and helpful, the food was good and more! Several reviewers commented about rude staff, so maybe they were being difficult, but everyone was so nice! The breakfast pancakes were good, and although they got a little busy in the morning with everyone trying to eat before they went into the parks, they were efficient and the food was good! The rooms were MUCH quieter than the Poly. Resort and the beds were comfy! We had stayed at the Polynesian the last time we went, and their rooms feel much smaller and very dark and dingy! The buses were very prompt to take you to the parks, and so was the boat!! Don't hesitate to go here with kids, we all loved it!! Will stay at the WL next time!

Room Tip: Get a garden view, it overlooks the pool area.

Our first trip to WDW was our most memorable vacation ever! Lodge is extremely clean and well maintained. There were no Florida bugs in June! Staff is knowledgable and pleasant. Quiet and spacious rooms with hot water instantly. Pool is amazing and life guards are attentive. Transportation by bus had short wait time. Boat transportation was very tranquil, smooth and surprisingly quick to get to other areas of park. Dining puts you in a good mood with their silliness. Come with a big appetite-- the portions at Disney are huge. We will definitely stay at Wilderness Lodge again.

Room Tip: Woods view was peaceful/private

The Wilderness Resort is spectacularly themed. Having stayed at several of the Great Lodges of the Western National Parks, we really enjoyed staying in the Disney interpretation of them. We would stay again on that account.

This resort is classified as Deluxe by Disney but it's really a tweener between Deluxe and Moderate and in our case was priced like that (more than a moderate but less than most of the other deluxe properties). You might be a little disappointed in the room size and quality if you have stayed in the other deluxe properties. Our room was comfortable but not large and the theme carried nicely into the room decor. The soft goods are ready for an update. Our room had a mini fridge and a queen bed plus a 1 set of bunks. The bunks were preferable for our kids--they slept better each having their own bed.

The pool area was also nice but not large enough to handle the crowd if the property is operating in hot / nice weather at near capacity. There weren't any available lounge chairs mid afternoon when returning from the parks. Contributing was the apparent lack of a pool attendant clearing left behind towels from abandoned chairs.

We ate at the both the quick service restaurant and the Whispering Canyon Cafe. Food at the QSR was better / fresher than the QSR park food, and we enjoyed the WCC and were amused. Avoid rooms that directly overlook the main lobby above the restaurant due to the evening restaurant noise.

The resort location is great for touring the Magic Kingdom with efficient boat transfer that we never had to wait very long for on either end. The bus service from this location however was unacceptable in our experience. We used it to the Studios and Animal Kingdom and waited > 30 minutes in both circumstances on both ends. The Studios bus route ran through the campground too contributing to making it pokey. Because the wait was so long, the bus filled for AK so we could go directly there, but it still was an hour from door to door (due to the wait) at the start of the day. My sense was that buses were filing at previous stops before reaching ours. If we stay here again, I'd get a rental car (self parking is free) and drive to the parks other than Magic Kingdom. Parking for resort guests is free at the parks.

At the Wilderness resort, the Disney magic and service is very much present and well done throughout. The overall experience was enjoyable and I would stay here again, especially if I was focused on mainly touring the Magic Kingdom.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms above the lobby restaurant (noise).

We stayed here once before many years ago. We decided since we were not doing a big vacation this year, we would treat outselves to a Walt Disney Hotel Stay rather than swapping our RCI timeshare for a nearby place. The convenience of staying at a disney resort is truly a convenience. The hours of the park is extended to hotel guests, as is the shopping done on the premises can be delivered directly to your room without you have to drag your stuff around and hope it doesn't get stolen.

The hotel, is still as beautiful and has the same lodgy feeling that I remembered. The huge fireplace and the beautiful pool. We had a pool view. Our room was small, but adequate for four, and we had a balcony that faced the pool. The bathroom was starting to show it's age, with caulking needing to be updated but all in all, it was as expected. We would not have paid regular price, as it is very expensive, but being Florida residents, we were able to take advantage of the 40% discount offered on the regular rates.

We've stayed at the Contemporary, Polynesian and the Wilderness. Each has it's own special place but the Wilderness Lodge is one of our favorites, simply because it's so cozy and inviting. It is a bit longer to get to Magic Kingdom as you can go either by boat or by bus. We always traveled by boat into MK and Epcot and used the bus for Downtown Disney and Hollywood (the old MGM) and Animal Kingdom.
