“Great location with a couple of flaws”
Reviewed November 21, 2010

We rented a two-bedroom suite for parents, grand-parents and a three-year-old. Excellent location to Epcot. You will spend the better part of an hour to reach the Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom. Pretty beach and extensive swimming pools. We found the service to be friendly and accommodating. Check-in was smooth. Plenty of staff to answer questions and give directions. The furnishings were a step downscale from a Ritz or Four Seasons. The hotel offered the opportunity to check-in our suitcases at the airport and they went straight to our room. We liked this feature. My two complaints are: 1.) No in-room WiFi and a $10 daily charge for Internet access, and 2.) weak line-up of cable TV channels -- no Fox News, Animal Planet, History, but every other channel promotes a Disney revenue stream. Given the high price of the hotel, the lengthy time to reach the Magic Kingdom and these two flaws, I will take a look at some off-campus hotels for my next trip.

I'll echo the other reviewers who say the service was poor. The front desk clerk tried her hardest to help us get split receipts for our room bill so we could be reimbursed. (This trip was for business travel.) The computer system apparently finds this a bizarre request--hard to believe since they have so many conferences here--and so she called over the manager. That was when all helpfulness (and friendliness) stopped. We were told to go to our rooms and the receipts would be slipped under the door; instead we got a voice mail informing us that what we wanted was impossible. That night there was a 2 a.m. fire alarm; we all milled around outside and finally after the ringing stopped decided to go back in even though no staff ever appeared to tell us what was going on and no announcement was ever made (over the same PA system that announced the alarm) to tell us what was going on and whether we could go back in the building. The alarm then briefly went off two more times, ensuring no one got a good night's sleep.

Everything looks nice at first glance, but give it more than a glance and you will see the signs that the construction is cheap and the hotel is not well-managed. The walls are so thin I could hear the guy next door brushing his teeth. The clock/ipod dock in our room was broken; colleagues had a broken lamp in their room. Decor is scuffed and tired looking. The food, as other commenters have mentioned, is mediocre and overpriced (but it is Disney World, so this was no surprise). Still, nearly five dollars for a yogurt and tea for breakfast is astonishing, and the room service prices are insane.

Would I recommend this hotel to business travelers? No. In fact, Disney World (or any amusement park) is a terrible place to attend a conference--you're trapped into buying mediocre overpriced food, you spend lots of time on shuttle busses, it is easy to find it impossible to get from one session to another if sessions are at separate hotels. For business travelers, this hotel is mediocre at best. The public wifi signal was weak and the staff are all oriented toward vacation travelers and getting them to spend as much money as possible in the parks.

Would I recommend this hotel to vacationers? I suppose, to family vacationers with small children. The pool area is very kid-friendly and this hotel cluster is one of the few spots at Disney where you can get out and walk to two of the theme parks and to the fake Atlantic City boardwalk shop-and-restaurant area. If I brought my family to Disney World and wanted to stay in-park, I might stay here. But I would pack lots of food (there are in-room refrigerators).

I'll also echo the reviewer who said none of the things they did to expedite the beginning of their stay--the Disney Magical Express luggage delivery service, the online check-in--did anything to actually expedite the beginning of our stay. In fact, once we got through the half-hour at the front desk, we waited five more hours for our luggage to be delivered. My advice: take the Magical Express shuttle but get your own bags and keep them with you, unless you want to be sitting up exhausted your first night waiting for your pajamas to arrive.

I recently decided to go to Walt Disney World for the food & wine festival, however I waited until very late to make this decision, so finding a room was a little difficult. I contact Travel on a Dream agency asking for a good rate at a hotel near Epcot. She was able to secure a waterfront view room for the last weekend of F&W. A few days later Disney announced an A/P discount and she was able to get my rate reduced before I even knew about the new discount.

Our room was not available when we arrived, however, we were given our keys and received a text with our room number around 3:00. Our room was not too far from the elevators and overlooked the beach. We could see the lighthouse from our room, it was very pretty. We could walk to Epcot, which made it so easy to attend the festival.

We also made use of the boat transportation to Hollywood Studio's, it was pretty quick but we did have to wait for a second boat due to the crowds heading over to see the Osborn Family Lights, spectacular as always.

I would say one other thing about our TA, as noted, I waited until late to make these bookings. I decided the week before that we wanted to attend the 3D dessert party and our TA was able to get us reservations at the last minute.

This is a very pretty and clean resort. Great location also, but the bus rides are tremendously long to everywhere. so many stops. and most of the time the busses were very crowded. The front desk staff was "okay" but nothing we did in advance to help expedite our check in helped. It was as if we did nothing in advance. Check in takes way too long. The pool is disgusting in the warm months. It's heated YEAR ROUND. the temp in the pool was hotter than bath water in june and we couldn't bear to be in it. it was yucky. not refreshing at all. the games they have for the kids poolside are great tho. The gentleman leading them when we were there had a very thick accent and all the children had trouble understanding his directions. the food was "okay" but way overpriced. esp Cape May. What a rip off. the food was "fine" nothign special, but the price was way high. Not worth the bucks. the gift shop was very frustrating b/c more than 1/2 of the food products are not priced. and the employees running the registers don't know the prices either. they have to scan the item. very frustrating for them also. the location of this was the best and it's quicker to walk to the boardwalk than to take the boats. The rooms are nice, but there is no where to change clothes in privacy. the "potty closet" barely has room to stand, much less change clothes. We would never stay here again. I would try a less expensive resort b/c if you have small children you are in your room very very little. I also was not impressed with the "Salon" on this property. They didn't answer the phone and didn't return phone calls. The workers were all but rude. Not friendly like you would expect from a high priced Resort Salon. Spend the money elsewhere. And please don't misunderstand. We had a great trip, fun time and the hotel is very nice. Maybe for a couple w/ no kids it would be more worthy. The best part of this property was the Steakhouse (they cure their own meat and you can see their curing room). Food, service and atmosphere was the total package there. I would eat there even if not staying in that resort.

The pool was fantastic. Unfortunately, the service from front desk was terrible. I kept having issue after issue and the front desk was interested in doing little more than giving excuses. They did not give apologies or go beyond in any way. I think this hotel is very poorly managed. I emailed WDW (at the high level) and got a pretty generic response.
The kids happy, but the dad was not.

My family just stayed at the Disney Beach Club and have the best stay ever. The pool is by far the best pool you will ever find at any hotel. The sand bottom pool for younger children is full of family activities all day long. The cast members keep the children entertained throughout the day! The Rooms are beautiful and clean and bright and cheery! We will only stay at the Beach Club when traveling to Disney!

We're just back from a great 5 night stay at Disney's Beach Club Resort. Good size rooms, even for a family with 3 kids. Beds are suprisingly comfortable. As mentioned before, great location right next to Epcot and across the lake from the Boardwalk. All amenities you can imagine are there, including a mini waterpark.

Staying onsite has tremendous advantages, including the Magical Express, the use of Disney's transportation and the extra magic hour.

We had a great time at Disney World and the Beach Club. Kids did ot want to leave and now we can't wait to go back!
