“Good but not great”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2013

I have now stayed in disney hotels 5 times staying in 4 different disney properties and I have to say this was my least favourite! We stayed near the back of the hotel and the view from our balcony was on to a garden, very beautiful and we had a view of fireworks every night. However there was a massive bug problem on the balcony and a man just walked in the room one day to fix it. Didn't make me feel very safe but I guess the bug problem was fixed. The room was outdated, and didn't seem up to the same standard as other disney hotels. The lobby was a strange set up, didn't feel welcoming in any way, I think they where going for an airy beach feel but it didn't quite happen. Eating wise, not great, especially if anyone is fussy. The "moderate restaurant" where you would get breakfast etc, is a fish restaurant- fine if you love fish but otherwise the lobby just continuously stinks. No real quick service counter option. We usually like to get our breakfast in the more casual restaurant but they only had a small counter in the middle of their merchandise shop that only had about 2 seats. The ice cream parlour however is fantastic! milkshakes are great, but again very busy and very little seats. The main pool, in all fairness is great. They have a really deep in, less deep end, a sort of lazy river thing and a brilliant slide that kids really love. Also have quieter pools that are indeed much quieter if you prefer that. The laundry is hard to get to. The closest elevator is a rackety old thing that really doesn't feel safe, and if you don't use that you have to go a trek to find another way to it. Maybe I just missed an easier way. The location is great! You are 2 minutes if that from Epcot and the Boardwalk is great for a morning jog. All in all, an average hotel, a below average hotel for Disney, I would say your money is much better spent elsewhere.

Not impressed at all with this place! Just checked in today to a view overlooking the parking lot {was supposed to be courtyard} the room is sooo tired looking the beds are far from 4 star and the halls are dirty with scuffed up walls and torn wall paper. This is supposed to be a Club Level and so far leaves a lot to be desired! Sooo disapointed!

Spent a night at Disney's Beach Club Resort for a special evening before heading over to Disney's Port Orleans Riverside for the remainder of the week. The Beach Club was fantastic. We had a pool view room with a balcony and the ambiance was perfect. The pool is amazing and that was the #1 reason we stayed there. Not many eating places without reservations, but the Board Walk is next door. There is a grab and go breakfast area with many of the same breakfast selections as the other Disney Hotels. Not much room to eat inside - outside is lovely, but it was HOT! Boat rides were awesome!

Room Tip: Never miss the fireworks at Disney. They can be seen at the Polynesian Beach Resort for the BEST vi...

Travelling with my 12 and 11 year old boys this time. Stayed on the club level on the fifth floor. Room was 5 rooms away from the lounge. It was convenient so we could bring food and drinks back to ou room. No daybed in the room but requested a rollaway which was big enough to accommodate me, an adult. Breakfast was continental, enough for us. Not to mention there are so much to eat around the parks. We usually went back to our room after lunch for an unwind in such a hot summer. It was so nice to stop by the lounge to grab a drink, ginger ale, coke, lemonade etc with some yummy snack. We especially loved the Swiss Gummy Fish - the yummiest gummy we had. Starting from 5 oclock, there will be some appetiser serving in the club. We always tried some first. We then went back to the Epcot World Showcase for a variety of food for our dinner. We usually don't order starter and dessert since we have got and can get those when we are back to the resort. The cupcakes are really yummy. Again, We get some drinks before going to bed. We paid 100 dollar more per day to stay on the club level. For three of us, food wise, to get the same thing in the resort area, we had to pay even more - continental breakfast, afternoon drinks, appetizer, dessert. Not to mention those who enjoy wine/ beers which are served between 5 to 7. On top of that, you get an additional bed, concierge service, and club floor prevail age. I consider club level a good buy.

We stayed at the Beach Club in June, for six nights. It is a beautiful, super, kid-friendly resort full of style and personality! We had such a fabulous time in Disney, and really enjoyed our stay at the Beach Club hotel. My husband and I have a three year-old son, and he LOVED the Stormalong Bay pool area. Stormalong Bay is shared with the Beach Club's sister hotel, the Yacht Club; it is a sand-bottom pool, and offers sand play areas near the shallow/kid's area for children to play. The pool is so large and definitely offers something special for everyone to enjoy. I love the design of this pool, and the kiddie area was so great! Beach Club is within walking distance to Epcot and the Boardwalk; we viewed the fireworks from Epcot's parade, on our balcony in the evenings. It's a short ride to Hollywood Studios, on the water taxi from the Beach Club, as well. If the weather is bad (lightning), they run a bus to Hollywood Studios. Being so close, and having such easy access to two fabulous parks made for a great perk! On our Magic Kingdom days, we left early and were done with the MK by mid-day. We often walked to Epcot, or rode the water taxi to Hollywood Studios in the evenings. I also loved walking over to the Boardwalk. Cape May Café, in the hotel, offers a wonderful character dining experience, and the breakfast food was good too! We also enjoyed their seafood buffet. Beaches and Cream Soda Shop has great ice-cream; it's pricey- but fun and very yummy! I loved everything about this hotel. The views from every direction are beautiful... You can see the Boardwalk, the lake, boats, the beautiful blue hotel.... I could go on and on! Our room was nice, and very clean. the couch seams were a little worn and frayed, but we weren't there enough to sit on it- so it wasn't a big deal for us. When we called for something, service was consistently prompt. House cleaning did a great job each day. Yes, Disney resorts are pricey, but you pay for over-the-top style and atmosphere, the fun experience, and the convenience od being on Disney property with convenient access to the parks. We will do it again, in the future! If you like hopping around to different parks while at Disney, this hotel is for you! In my opinion, with a little one- it's nice to be so close to three great Disney attractions, and be minutes from bath-time and bed-time in the evenings. Having a decent restaurant with character dining in our hotel, was so convenient, as well. There's also the Marketplace- for buying fruit, quick breakfast items, and and convenience store snack and personal items; Marketplace also has a gift-shop area that is just average. Overall- for price I knocked off one star, but it was a fun stay!

Room Tip: As for a balcony facing fireworks at Epcot!

Let's get the negatives out of the way first, because the positives far outweigh the negatives and the net result was an excellent disney experience. We would definitely come back to this hotel.

The major negative was our room upon check-in. The room on the 2nd floor had a terrible musty, moldy type of an odor. This would have been awful for one of our travelers whose allergies would have gone into full swing with the dampness and relared odor. It was quite overpowering when you enter the room in particular. The front desk staff was exceptionally helpful and we were moved to the 4th floor which had no odor whatsoever. We enjoyed our room the rest of the trip. I would recommend asking for the 4th floor. In the new room, the major negative was one of the two mattresses was extremely uncomfortable as the mattress had to be at least 20 years old. We solved that problem by having our kids sleep on that mattress as they didn't think it was uncomfortable. This problem was never addressed despite us reporting and requesting a remedy. The hotel rooms are definitely outdated and in need of renovation. In fact, I found some of the HGI/Courtyard rooms we stay at to be better. I think the rooms were 3 star while the resort itself was 5 star.

Now on the the wonderful positives. The rest of the resort was gorgeous with all kinds of conveniences and amenities. We loved the theme of the resort and found it to be immaculate. The marketplace was really nice and convenient with surprisingly good and inexpensive food options. The pool areas were amazing. We balanced our time between the quiet pool and Stormalong Bay. Both were wonderful experiences and a great place to relax, enjoy the sun and a tropical beverage. The Stormalong Bay pool area is really impressive. We especially enjoyed the sand bottom pool, lazy river and food/beverage service right at your chair. The pool was large enough that there were plenty of quiet areas too. The beach area was gorgeous as well. We enjoyed sitting out there at night and taking in the sights, sounds and smells of the resort and the great nighttime weather. The resort experience was so relaxing and so convenient, that we found ourselves spending less time in the parks than what we thought we would do. We just loved relaxing around the resort.

The service and friendliness of staff was simply fantastic and what we expected out of Disney. No matter what staff person (cashiers, front desk, bell staff, lifeguards, housekeepers, etc.) we dealt with, the consistent Disney magic was always present.

The superstar of the experience was the location!!! The location was amazing!!! A 5 minute walk to Epcot, a 15 minute boat ride to Disney studios and a 5 minute walk to the Boardwalk. There is no other resort at WDW that can provide this amazing experience. We ended up going to Epcot at some point every day and especially enjoyed the leisurely pace this provided for eating at and exploring the World Showcase. Also made getting fast passes to Soarin and Test Track easy....walk over in the morning for 10 minutes, get the fast passes and come back later. We also made mutliple trips to the Studios. The access to these 2 parks was so convenient we actually went less to our favorite, the Magic Kingdom.

In summary, after a rocky start with a poor room, the rest of our week was awesome at the Beach Club. We will defintely be back although we will ask for 4th floor and will hope for a renovation of rooms in the future. Looking forward already to our next stay at the Beach Club!

Room Tip: Ask for the 4th floor, check your mattress for comfort before accepting the room.
