“Great location, but needs some work”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

We spent five days here shortly after the start of the new year. The location is very good for couples and families with older children. You can easily walk to Epcot or around the lake to the clubs and food on the Boardwalk. Hollywood Studios is a very short boat ride away. Just be aware that you will make a stop at the Swan/Dolphin before you get to the park. All bus rides are relatively short since this hotel is more centrally located on Disney property. This was our third visit to this hotel. We have also stayed twice at the Yacht Club which is right next door and shares some facilities with the Beach Club.
At check in they did not have the room type that we had requested. They gave us a choice of the bed that we wanted or the view. We took the king bed room and they refunded the difference for the parking lot view. Our room was off the balcony directly above the desk on the second floor and was a very large room. However, this property needs some refurbishment and we will not stay here again until they have done some work. There was a large hole in the wall about 15" across at the end of our hall. The large paintings that you can see from the lobby all have missing paint and broken frames which is visible when you walk down the hall. A number of places on the walls have been repaired with mismatched paint and the carpet needs either re-stretched or replaced. Our room was in need of paint and freshening up and the mattress was saggy.
Housekeeping was good in our room, a little lax in the halls and public spaces. Everyone was very friendly and nice and we received a wonderful greeting when we arrived via the Disney Magical Express motor coach. There are a lot of reasons to like this hotel, we were just a little disappointed in the condition so we will stay somewhere else next year.

Room Tip: There are some websites that have refurbishment information about Disney properties. Check those si...

We were here from Jan 4-10, on our fourth stay at this resort. We choose it for its location and excellent pool, which never disappoint. I did notice some maintenance issues. Our room was not cleaned one day, the closet door was broken, and we had a broken lamp and burned out lightbulb, both of which were remedied promptly. We did check in early, around noon and were informed we had been "upgraded" to a disabled accessible room. I had faxed a request for a room in our favorite location (overlooking woods nearest Epcot with balcony). I totally understand that requests cannot always be met and we did arrive well before the 4 pm check-in time so we went to our upgraded room.

This room was no upgrade. There was no loveseat or wall shelf or dresser and the single sink was inside the bathroom which had a shower but no tub. Obviously it would be great for a wheelchair-bound person but not for a mom and her adult son. We went back to reception and asked for a regular room. The guy seemed miffed that we didn't appreciate the upgrade. We explained how the room did not meet our needs and we just wanted a regular room and were willing to wait for it. He had to phone someone and kept saying "they didn't want the upgrade, I explained to them it was an upgrade" yada yada yada. Was that necessary? I felt belittled.

A proper room was found and we were satisfied. No issues from that point on (except the maintenance issues stated above, which were minor but our expectations were high based on the price we paid for the room and our past seamless experiences here.)

We loved the pool and the Cape May Cafe. The employees were super-nice, the atmosphere beautiful and friendly. I do think they could improve the Marketplace. It needs to offer more merchandise and better quick-service food options, both were rather limited.

The noise level from rooms above us kept us awake a couple nights. The rooms are not very sound-proof. And my mattress was saggy.

One piece of advice: When using the wake-up call button on the phone, make sure to go thru the whole menu and confirm your time TWICE. One night I failed to confirm the second time and we did not get the wake-up call!

I would definitely stay here again. We had a wonderful time and it is still my favorite resort based on location but I do hope they do not slip further in the attention to details.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the woods nearest Epcot.

This was our second visit to Disney's Yacht and Beach Club resort. The first time we stayed at the Yacht club and this time at the Beach Club.

A family stay Dec-Jan 2013. Two adjoing rooms booked.

On arrival we were allocated a ground floor room but having read trip advisor before going and taking a note of the rooms to ask for, we immediatley requested an alternative which they accomodated with no trouble at all. We were put on the 3rd floor near the Epcot end of the hotel which was actually brilliant. We had paid for a garden view and were pleased that we over looked the woodland side of the property. For the whole of the 14 nights both rooms were very quiet and peaceful, so we experienced non of the noise concerns previously written about. Being this end of the hotel we were able to easily use the back stairs to enter and exit the hotel which was especially good when we wanted to go into Epcot or around the Boardwalk.

On arrival to our rooms, one room still had some empty bottles lying around and a bed not made. An immediate call was made and housekeeping came and fixed it within 30mins which was excellent and gave us $100 compensation. Our room was spotless, and both rooms were kept very clean for the whole of our stay so no issues there.

After first arriving we had no cause to speak to anyone at reception about our accomodation for the whole of the duration which I believe is a good thing. The only negative would be the slowness of the the staff behind the Check In/Out and Concierge desks. Some of it is due to the fact that they will give each customer their full attention until all queries have been answered but that does not help those queuing for a period of time. In fact this was the only occasion where a Disney queue management system failed to be managed effectively and in an organised manner, causing quite a bit of frustration.

We all enjoyed our stay very much at the hotel enjoying meals at the Flying Fish on the Boardwalk, BlueZu in the Dolphin hotel and had a lovely meal at the Rose and Crown in Epcot the night of the Candelight Parade, which was excellent. Christmas Day meal was at the Yachtsman Steakhouse which was a bit pricey for what was delivered. We all ate it but it wasn't really anything special. Trying to be fine dinning but not quite hitting the mark from our experience.

On arrival, visit the Beach Club market place and buy a refillable mug. We are not into fizzy drinks but the hot water for tea and hot chocolate is fine and saves at least $2.99 each time you want a hot drink. If like us you are there for a long period of time, this is very worthwhile.

Pool and hot tubs are great and a good place to hangout and make new friends.

Epcot fireworks on New Year's Eve were fantastic as were the Fireworks at Magic Kingdom on Christmas Eve which were made even more special, when turning to face Main Street that extra touch of fake snow being gently blown into the air - fantastic!

Overall though, having a clean safe and quiet hotel means that it did its job and allowed us to relax, thus giving us the oppurtunity to just focus on a fantastic holiday. Whether at Disney, Universal or Kennnedy Space Centre, everything is made so easy for the holiday maker which is great. Disney transport system works very well indeed.

A secret find was the Fantasia Garden mini golf, one course more crazy than the other, both a lot of fun and an easy walk from the hotel, past the Swan hotel and across the road.

Both the Yacht and Beach Club hotels have given us two very special and very memorable holidays that we will treasure.

The Beach Club can't be beat for service and location. We stayed here for several days during winter break (which is also the value period - about $250 a night) and enjoyed the proximity to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. When we arrived, our check-in process was terribly slow - the computer showed the room as not being ready despite it being 8 pm. Once they worked it out, everything went smoothly. We had a day of sun and enjoyed the pool. There is a kids pool party from 2:30 - 4:00 pm that meant screeching voices on the microphone announcing conga lines, Simon says, etc. It was miserable. They do have a "quiet" pool but I was there with kids so it was not an option. Noisy kids don't bother me, but the Disney employees who felt they needed a microphone to speak to 8 kids (C'mon everyone! Let's conga!) were the loud ones. Ugh.

Our room was cleaned well each day and the coffee maker and fridge were a nice plus. We had to unexpectedly cut our trip short a night so I went to the front desk at 4 pm to tell them I was checking out - fully prepared to pay for the night since I had not made the change in advance. The hotel refunded my charge for the last night AND for the first night for the slow check-in process. I asked for neither refund and was so impressed that they provided it on their own. For that alone, I have to say THUMBS UP.

Room Tip: Rooms seem to be well-insulated - we never heard any neighbors, people in the hallway, elevators, et...

Whilst the hotel and amenities were ok and the staff lovely we were left with a bitter taste in our mouths. Everyone on disney dining plans except Virgin and Kuoni passengers had been told to pre-book their restaurants six months before travel. That meant those of us who were not told could not get reservations at the times of day you need when you are travelling with kids! This meant waiting until late at night or paying for a meal elsewhere. That wouldn't have been so bad except all the people not informed of the need to pre-book meals, and those not on the dining plans were trying to get into the same restaurants.

Also a bottle if water counts as a snack on your dining plan but a fruit cup doesn't!! Plan ahead!

Just spend a week here over Christmas. Great location to these two parks and the Boardwalk is right across from it as well. The pool area is great for small kids and you could spend a lot of time just hanging around the pool and not even go to a park if you wanted. They are over staffed at the entrance, I mean they are tripping over each other to get your luggage, then show you the check in etc. They seem to be be a little understaffed in the Market, be prepared to wait Disney style for food. The upside is that their portion size is CRAZY. A single sandwich is hard to finish and I can pack away my share of food. The down side is as every one else has said, is the cleaning staff needs to be talked with. We had a coffee maker that did not work, tub that would leave you standing in calf high water during a shower and toilet seat that moved like a Disney ride when you sat on it. Maybe no previous guest ever mentioned these problems upon checking out, maybe the cleaning staff was not diligent? I would go with the latter. There were days where we would take our own garbage out as it was piling up in the room. Otherwise the rooms were good size and beds comfortable. The extra cot was fine for teenager at max. Two sinks are great as well! There is ample laundry services for families also.Overall would give this hotel much higher marks if only they could clean up the rooms a bit more.
