“Great Resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2012

We stayed at Disney's Beach Club Resort in June of 2012 which included my wife, our two young daughters, and myself. The resort is beautiful and well kept as most Disney properties. We took the magical express to get to Beach Club from the airport, which was a good option. Upon entering the hotel, we were pleasantly greeted by very professionally dressed staff to assist us in our registration. The lobby was very nice and definetly gave you the upscale beach feel.

We continued on to our room, which was also very beautiful! The cleaning staff would also greet our daughters nicely every morning as we walked through the hallways. We ate at the Cape May character breakfast at the hotel one morning, and the buffet was delicious! We also caught a sandwich and flatbread at their Marketplace/gift shop area and we were very happy with the quick service food there and snack options. The staff was great at the Marketplace and really helped us understand our dining plan so much better.

A nice option with the Beach Club, is that you can literally walk to Epcot. You also have water taxis to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, and motorcoaches to everywhere else. The pool at Beach Club was beyond wonderful. It had a sand bottom and its own beach with a sand bar that extended through the middle of one of the pool areas. Also included was a lazy river, multiple other pools, a large water slide, and a small kids slide. I over heard a person while at the pool that said Beach Club's pool was in the top 5 in the country, and I would believe it! I do know it is the biggest pool area at Disney for any of the resorts.

The only negative I had about this resort, and it is not a big deal, was that we had to walk SO far from the lobby to our room. Granted, we were one of the last rooms in the resort, so not all rooms would be this far. This place is wonderful for families and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We only wished we could have spent more time at the Beach Club, because we were out at the parks so much of the time.

Room Tip: Try to get a room that is somewhat close to the elevator area to avoid having to walk a long distanc...

We stayed at the Beach Club for 6 nights. We were lucky enough to get a room on the lobby level which was quiet and had convenient access to all hotel amenities: Cape May Cafe, trinket shop and Storm Along Bay Pool area. The trinket shop (near the elevators, can't remember the name of it) had a little of everything. Food items, rain ponchos, Disney souvenirs, small selection of meds, etc. Since we were on the dining plan, we were able to purchase our snacks there: bagels, milk, cereal, juice, fruit which made sufficient breakfasts. A little-known secret--they offer an under-utilized "quick serve" counter that serves delicious sandwiches, salads and breakfast items. If you are on the dining plan, have them make a turkey-cranberry sandwich to go. Very delicious!

Our room was quite comfortable. It had two queen beds, a mini fridge and small patio area to sit and enjoy the gardens. Our kids saw rabbits and a couple of very friendly ducks that waddled right into our room like they owned the place. The grounds were absolutely immaculate and beautiful. We slept very well not only because we visited the parks all day but because the beds and pillows were so comfortable. Nice to come back to after a long day! Only complaint: we found chocolate stains and corn chips in the comforter of the bed.

Cape May Cafe was fantastic! We did the character dining for breakfast one morning (highly recommend) and ate dinner there twice. The staff, friendly and helpful. Huge selection of food; something for everyone. You won't leave hungry!

Perhaps the best feature of all is Storm Along Bay. It is divided into several areas between The Yacht Club and Beach Club Hotels. The crowning feature is a long slide that begins across the pedestrian pathway at a shipwreck and ends in the main pool area. They offer inflatable tubes you can ride along a small, circular river area. A couple of small water falls here and there and ample seating. There's also a sand play area along a zero entry, sand bottom section for those who want to build sandcastle creations. Our children loved it!
You could easily spend a few hours playing here, so definitely save some time to do so.

Overall very impressed with the Beach Club. Only other complaint was an inconsiderate maid came to our door at 7:00am on the day of check-out. She claimed there was a note that we would be checking out early. We checked with the front desk to see if this was true. No such note, of course. She just wanted us to get up early so she could clean our room for the next guest--a very unmagical ending to what would have been the perfect experience.

Room Tip: Go to the souvenir shop for a convenient "quick serve" counter.

Generally we were very happy with our accomodations (Room 5715) although it was just about as far from the elevators and Stone Harbor Club as can be.

Our primary complaint was the organized poolside childrens' activities. You could not have added a single decibel more to the loud speakers. I don't know exactly where they were located, but they were loud no matter where you were in the Stormalong area. Not so bad if you were in the water but very VERY annoying if you were sun bathing. In fact they could be heard in the hall outside our room so, inside, if you wanted to nap, you pretty much had to pray for rain. There is no good reason why the loudspeakers had to be any louder than for the children to hear the moderator clearly..

Complaint #2 was the quiet pool area. In an effort to get away from the stormalong loudspeaker system, my wife visited the quiet pool near the villas. It was anything but quiet. First she was annoyed by some loud obnoxious woman who actually pulled a chair from a neighboring patio to sit with another couple who seemed to find her as almost annoying as my wife. Thankfully for them the guests whose chair she borrowed came out onto the patio and she was forced, very loudly, to give up her seat. No sooner gone, a couple arrived with two noisy pre-school kids who immediately started to battle each other with plastic pool "noodles". Why they would come here when kid friendly Stormalong Bay was just a short distance away makes no sense unless they were not actually guests of the Beach Club (required to enter Stormalong Bay). Finally, my wife had to give up any hope of a nice quiet respite when a guest went to his room and brought out the room's clock radio, plugged it into a nearby AC source, attached his Ipod to it and started to play his country music loud enough so that everyone in the pool area was forced to hear it.

There is no reason why management cannot post rules in a conspicuous area in an effort to actually keep the quiet pools quiet. (e.g. no children under fourteen, no radios or MP3 players used without ear-phones, etc.)

Not a complaint, but a suggestion to Beach Club management. Re-outfit the concierge people with navy blue blazers with the beach club logo on the pocket. It would be 100% better than the current outfits which are reminiscent of the uniforms worn by the fying monkies in the "Wizard of Oz".

I was disappointed in "Beaches and Cream" after reading many good reviews. First of all the place is too tiny, but, getting past that on our first visit, I ordered the first ice cream soda I've had in several years. Unfortunately the Cherry ICS tasted only of seltzer and vanilla ice cream. I asked the waitress to bring me some additional cherry syrup. What I received was about a 2 ounce cup with about a half ounce of red liquid the consistency of water. Cherry syrup it was not and, at best, added only a hint of cherry flavor. Everything else we had was ok to good. Finally, I couldn't understand why, in such a tiny place, patrons could barely hear the jukebox. Actually the loud speakers from the childrens' play area were heard above the music on the jukebox.

From many of the non-authorized Disney sites I read where the evening appetizers served at the Stone Harbor Club (5-7 PM) came from the hotel's restaurants and included such things as braised beef. This, of course, is not the case. More likely the offerings come frozen from Costco or some other bulk wholesaler/retailer. The pot stickers and bacon wrapped scallops, though ok, were no better than those we've purchased at Costco. Breakfast was fair and gave us a nice start to the day, mid-day snacks were good especially the kettle chips and cookies and the beer and wine a nice touch with our appetizers. The food and beverage offerings allowed us to pass on the dining plan and recoup some of the money we spent for club level.

I guess this seems like nothing but complaints, but actually the overall experience was just fine. The concierge staff was very accommodating as was the front desk. Housekeeping also did a nice job. The days we visited were very hot and humid so Stormalong Bay (though a bit noisy) was great mid-day hangout while everyone else was sweltering in the parks. I would not rule out staying at the BeachClub again, but would request Garden view over Lagoon view and for something a little closer to the elevators. More likely though we will choose the Grand Floridian which seems quite a bit less noisy and considerably more "classy".

Room Tip: If you choose club level do not accept a room in the 5700's. This will leave you far from the e...

We have stayed at the Pop Century, All Star Sports, Caribbean Beach, and Animal Kingdom Lodge. This was our first stay at the Beach Club. We chose it for the pool. Coming in June for a limited time, we wanted a fun pool for the kids, as we were not going to the water parks.

Location: Easy walk to Epcot. That was a plus. We did not do the hopper, but I think that would have been nice, given how close you are to Epcot and all of the food options there. Short and easy boat ride to Hollywood Studios. Bus to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Downtown Disney. You can share busses with Yacht Club only or Yacht Club and Boardwalk. Sometimes even Swan and Dolphin. I did not love this aspect, but it was not terrible. They were not well prepared for busses on AK early hours morning, but were very well prepared on MK early hours.

Hotel: I really liked this hotel. It had a very comfortable, relaxed feel. The rooms are a decent size and the beds and pillows are oh so comfortable. The noise level was fine, too. The pool is awesome. If you plan to spend time at the pool, this hotel is a great choice. The maid service was a little late in cleaning the rooms. This was a little annoying. It would have been nice for the room to be set by the middle of the afternoon, so that you can relax when you get back from the park. We did not request an earlier cleaning, so maybe that is possible. Balconies...if you want a real one, request it. You have that option on online check in. I didn't realize how tine a small one is. It is tiny--like one person can stand out on it alone. That's it. The large ones looked nice.

Food: It was nice to have a take out ice cream parlor. We also ate at the Captain's Grille at the Yacht club and it was good. The Yacht Club it attached to the Beach Club. The Market Place has a small counter service. I think this is an area where the hotel can improve. It would be nice to have more CS options. Also, the soda/coffee bar was often out of ice and certain beverages. Not a deal breaker, but a simple thing to fix.

All staff were super friendly. Cannot complain about anyone.

Would we come back to this hotel? Absolutely! Location, pool, comfortable night's sleep.

Room Tip: Request a large balcony.

This hotel is a perfect location for all Disney parks, walking distance to Boardwalk, Epcot and Hollywood studios and a short drive from all other Disney parks. Rooms are great, the pool is excellent for children, really safe with a sandy bottom and a great slide. Great food in the restaurants and a well stocked shop (ideal for snacks/breakfast).

Stayed here for five days last week. Loved the Yacht Club last time and thought this would be very similar. Unfortunately, it lacked any Disney Magic. Hot tub was broken the entire time at quiet pool. Elevator closest to our room was broken two days. Ice maker on our floor was not working two days. No towels shaped into animals like at the Yacht Club. Concierge lady did not seem to enjoy helping people. Overall, it was not what we expect from Disney. We will not return here in the future.

This hotel looks great, and great staff. However the infrastructure is dated. A complete upgrade needed for their bathroom, room work desk, wifi reliability, and phone system. No cordless phone!! Just returned from a 6 nights stay with my family. My daughter and her best friend slept on the same bed and developed rashes on their backs the 1st night. Thinking it could be alergy from their time at the pool, the rashes did not alarm me. On the 2nd night my daughter complained and when i checked, both their backs rashes were all over! It must be bed bugs! I complained and requested to change a room and all they can offer was changing new sheets! It's ridiculous when u just checked in for 2 nights and they think it's the sheets! After a heated protest they changed my room the next morning and give me only $50 credit! Darn. And the wifi sucks! Could not get wifi when I was moved to another room.
Also so many kids running around and screaming. Just too noisy. The convenience store is a mess. The people would fill up coffee and hot drinks and dont even bother to clean up the spill and sugar remains at the counter top - both kids and adults alike. Just goes to show the type of people booking into this hotel. For the price I paid, I would likely stay at the Marriort or Hilton Club the next time I have my Orlando vacation.
But I must give credit to all the staff. They are overall an awesome bunch. Going all out to meet most of our needs. Excelpt for the brief encounter over the bed bugs. If not for the bed bugs, I would still rate it a 3.
