We've just returned from florida and can honestly say that this hotel is not as bad as some reviews are saying. I suppose if you want to stay in your room all day every day then you'd want somewhere a bit more upmarket, but as a base this is just perfect. Location it's literally down the road from Universal Studios, we could see the rollercoasters of Islands of Adventure from the balcony! Opposite Wet n Wild and right in the heart of i-drive. The staff are all excellent, really helpful and happy. The rooms are very basic and old fashioned but ours was cleaned every day (don't forget to tip the maid every day, going rate is $1 per person in your room). Breakfast was a bit of a scramble and also basic, but you can take your own stuff in with you (some people had cheese, marmite, ham etc) to supplement, there is orange juice, coffee, cereal, bread and jam provided, go early if you want a table! Alternatively, there are about 3 restaurants right near hotel for breakfast buffet 'eat all you can' for $3.99. The hotel lobby have loads of discount books for attractions and restaurants, they can save you a bundle! The swimming pool is lovely, it was cleaned every day and kept really nice, it was gr8 to come back from the parks and have a swim, it's open til 11pm every night and so was the pool bar. Most of us were taking our own drinks around the pool and nobody objected. Also in the arcade room next to the bar is a microwave for guests to use but they don't tell you about this. We bought our own hotdogs and rolls and had them round the pool! They also don't tell you they provide pool towels at reception, not the best quality but adequate. Overall a good hotel, not a bed bug in sight! Happy to answer any specific questions you may have. Oh, and lastly DON'T miss out on Harry Potter at Universal, it's awesome!!

Have previously stayed at this hotel before and knew it wasn't the best, very low budget but does do cereal, toast and coffee for breakfast. Only decent channel on the tv was Disney! Only one room key - manager did not have two available.Bathroom looked like someone had mixed up plaster in it and the shower only had one setting - blast! Cold water was warm. Room service was good, however no consistent time, varied between 10am and 3:30pm, so invariably was in room when they needed to clean it. Plus points were that room did have old micro fridge and safe.
Would stay again if wanted to do daily Wet 'n Wild but only for this reason as probably worst budget hotel stayed in - needs renovation!

Having read some terrible reviews of this hotel, l was slightly worried about staying here with my family. However, l can honestly say that it was our best holiday ever! Okay the hotel and rooms could do with a refurb but it was clean and comfortable. For the money you pay, you cannot expect 5* service so if you just want somewhere comfortable to collapse at night after a day in the parks/shopping, this hotel is great.
The hotel's location is excellent. You can walk to Universal in about 15 mins (or call the free fun spot bus to pick you up - reception will do this for you for free), Wet and Wild is opposite the hotel, loads of restaurants are in walking distance (or you can jump on the i-trolley). All the parks are easily accessible from this hotel.
If you want to use the wifi, you can only do this in the lobby or by the pool (some of the rooms near the lobby can pick it up if by the window).
The breakfast is basic but fine, you can have frosted flakes, corn flakes, toast (toasters do take forever though), tea, coffee and orange juice. If you want something else you can pay for pancakes etc or just pop across the road to Sizzler for an all you can eat buffet ($3.99 pp).
There are lots of good places to eat on international drive, we really enjoyed Chilli's and Uno. There is also a great takeaway pizza place across the road from the hotel. Being a vegetarian in Florida was a bit awkward as they really love their meat (our waitress in Chilli's had never served a vegetarian before) but most places have basic foods like veggie burgers/pizza/wraps etc.
The pool at the hotel is quite small but l never saw it overcrowded and its open until 11pm. The pool bar has a happy hour from 6-8pm and you can order burgers etc too. The staff at the hotel are lovely and friendly. Whoever you spoke too, they were always very helpful.
If we go back to Florida, we will stay in this hotel again.

This hotel really isnt as bad as everyone makes out. I have stayed here Twice and both times have been absolutly fine. I wouldnt have returned for a second stay if it was that bad!! The rooms are also pretty big which is great! you wont feel cramped!
Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, and both time I have stayed the rooms were clean and comfortable, The cleaners will change your bed sheets everyday if you leave the little 'bed change plaque' on the bed, and they will provide you with fresh clean towels everyday. The shower is great, Hot water was never a problem and there were two sinks in the en-suite part. The beds are confortable and I always got a good nights sleep. The only thing we did find a problem was the air conditioning unit is rather noisy, and it was 35 degrees when we were there, and had to turn the air con off during the night as it was impossible to sleep.

If there are any problems with your room, you can ring reception and they will send somebody up right away, and if you are still not happy, they will change your room with no quibble.

The main reason that I did return to the hotel for the 2nd time, was the fact that it is in an absolutly AMAZING location. They hotel offers a free (but quite limited) shuttle bus to all of the main parks (Universal, Seaworld and Disney) Wet 'n Wild is literally across the street (we could see the whole park from our hotel room) there are 100's of cheap places to eat right on the door step, and an I-Ride trolley stop right outside the hotel (we got a 14 day I-Ride pass for about $14 and we could use it unlimeted for the whole 2 weeks and it also stops at seaworld.)

There is also a Lynx bus stop just outside which will take you to universal studios for $2 and it literally takes about 5 mins.

The hotel does also offer a free continental breakfast, which to be honest inst great, but there are cereals, juices, a waffle machine and toaster (and bread!) so it was bearable.

So overall, Yes the hotel could do with an update, but you dont really spend much time there anyway, the main thing is you can get a good nights sleep, and then you will prbably be out most of the day anyway.

Please dont listen to the Bad reviews, I know its off-putting when somebody says bad things, but if you are looking for a cheap hotel in a great location then the Orlando Continental Plaza will be as good as any other. (We paid only £435 for 14 nights flights and accomodation from Expedia)

This place sucks!!! Internet is only available in the lobby, not in your room. Breakfast is bread you toast yourself in a toaster that barely works. Coffee cream, doesn't exsist in this place. You could fee the springs in the mattress. Cable? You only have access to about 5 channels. The only good thing is the location. The "shuttle" to disney only comes twice a day and they take the scenic route. You couldn't pay me enough to even walk by the place. Worst place ever!!!! Spend your $$ on a better hotel, well worth it.
