“A Beautiful Respite From the Orlando Chaos”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2013

Let me start out by saying that my wife and I are beyond the age where the amusement parks of Orlando hold much interest. But even for those of you there to take in the fun, noise and stomach churning provided by Disney, Universal and SeaWorld, we recommend taking half and afternoon and stroll through the beauty and charm of a tropical Florida. The gardens here at the Henry P. Leu Gardens are wonderfully presented. The entire complex is well maintained and lush. You can wander at your leisure through the gardens and experience a little of what a late nineteenth century pioneer family coming to central Florida would have found. You can visit the historic home of the Leu's and take a tour of the home they and other families developed over the first half of 1900's. A cadre of volunteers take turns leading you through the home. Our guide was a charming true daughter of the old South who told the stories of the house and families as only a southern belle could. Overall a wonderful way to spend a quiet couple of hours.

“Beautiful Gardens”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 28, 2013

The historic buildings on the property are beautiful. It is very peaceful to stroll around the gardens. We went to hear Ghost Storys. It is held one friday in the month of October. These were professional story tellers. It was only $10.00 per person and well worth it. They open at 6pm and many people were there at 5:30. We were able to get a seat up front. Bring your own chairs and it is ok to bring coolers. They do have some food to buy.

“A place to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty.”

We love to come here when they have Date Night and enjoy the movie. Also during the day they have good variety of plants and flowers to enjoy. The rose garden is a must see when it is in full bloom.

“Blooms everywhere - Nice gentle stroll amongst lovely surroundings”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2013

Lovely gardens that we tied into a day in the Winter Park locale. 2-3 hours is ample, something happening all year round thanks to the climate here. We saw the first camellias in bloom in November when we stayed. Huge bamboos, lovely rose garden and colour garden borders. The Leu House is worth the 30 minute on the hour/half hour tour with guide - this place is old in USA standards but the guide was a little flippant for my taste - could do with some coaching from the #EnglishNationalTrust - which could make this even better. Great visit.

“Relaxing, tranquil and a definite must see.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2013

I would recommend Leu Gardens to anyone, of all ages. The gardens are breath taking and fascinating with some interesting and unusual varieties (including the rare leafless 'Bird of Paradise' plant), you can take a picnic and enjoy it on the terrace whilst overlooking the gorgeous lake, the rose gardens have one of the most fragrant roses our family has ever had the privilege of smelling - 'Mr Lincoln', the staff and volunteers are knowledgeable and welcoming and there is a real air of peace and tranquility as you walk around. A definite must see, especially if you are visiting Orlando and want some time to breathe and relax in between the theme parks. Thank you to all at Leu Gardens for making our day so lovely and relaxing, we thoroughly enjoyed it.
