Let me start out by saying that my wife and I are beyond the age where the amusement parks of Orlando hold much interest. But even for those of you there to take in the fun, noise and stomach churning provided by Disney, Universal and SeaWorld, we recommend taking half and afternoon and stroll through the beauty and charm of a tropical Florida. The gardens here at the Henry P. Leu Gardens are wonderfully presented. The entire complex is well maintained and lush. You can wander at your leisure through the gardens and experience a little of what a late nineteenth century pioneer family coming to central Florida would have found. You can visit the historic home of the Leu's and take a tour of the home they and other families developed over the first half of 1900's. A cadre of volunteers take turns leading you through the home. Our guide was a charming true daughter of the old South who told the stories of the house and families as only a southern belle could. Overall a wonderful way to spend a quiet couple of hours.
