We stayed at the resort from Nov. 20 to the 27th, 2004. It was our first time staying there. The resort is very nice but VERY big! We stayed in the Lakes section. We were happy with this section. The room was plenty big for the five of us. It was nice having two separate bedrooms and two bathrooms. We had a balcony looking over one of the lakes with one of the pools right behind it. The pools were heated. You have to drive to get to the front desk but if there was anything you needed in your room all you had to do was call the front desk and they would send someone over with it. There is a washer and dryer but make sure you bring your own stuff. They do supply you with dishwasher soap and dish soap. They have their own general store on the property (I couldn't find it) but there is also a market right across the street from the resort (a little high priced). They opened a Target Superstore on rt 192. It is worth the ride if you are going to stock up your room for the week with food and drinks. The resort is not even 10 minutes to Disney World. It is a great location for all of the parks.
Overall we had a great time and it beats staying a a one room hotel with one bathroom and no place to breathe! It is a timeshare place so they will be calling you to try to get you to take a tour of the place. We were so busy when we were there that we didn't have time for anything but the parks! We never picked up our welcome package which is when I think they try to get you to set up a day. I would recommend this place to anyone with a big family. It was clean, comfortably and cozy!

Our family went to Orlando for the first time November 6-13, 2004 and had a great time. We stayed in the Fountain area on the top (3rd) floor. The place was clean and the kids (7& 12) loved the pool. We recommend using the diamond registration online before going.
We definitely recommend renting a car. We used E-Z Rental. They had the best price. Be careful to record every dent when picking up the car to save yourself time when dropping the car off. Also, it's cheaper to buy your own gas instead of the deal they offer you.
The lines at Disney and Universal were short this time of year. We did not wait more then 25 min. for most rides and a lot we got on with-in 15 min.
We recommend Cirque de Solie-expense but worth it.
If you want a change, try the Tampa Bay Aquarium about 70 miles away. If you go, do the behind the scene tour and the dophin boat ride. They were wonderful. I guess the power plant in Tampa Bay has a manatee refuge that people can tour for free in the winter. Unfortunitely we did not have the time to do that.
All and all it was tiring but wonderful.

Spent 2 weeks enjoying this property. Be sure to bring coffee filters, laundry soap and dryer sheets, also I brought automatic dishwasher "tablets" from home. Was initially dissapointed we were assigned to "Fountains" area, was hoping for the newer Lakes or Cascades area, but our villa was very clean and in good repair. I was informed by a compassionate staff person that if you check in on a Saturday that there is greater number of newer units available. We found driving home from the parks after dark to be confusing, looking back we should have used I-4 to access 535. Enjoyed reasonably priced dinners at nearby "Cracker Barrel" and "Steak n Shake" The staff at the Vistana couldn't have been nicer. Diamond Lane check in via the internet is a convenient time saver. The grocery store just outside the main entrance is very expensive, worth the drive to go to Publix or Winn Dixie.

We stayed in the Cascades section of the hotel for seven nights, and could not have been happier!! The hotel is gorgeous, with so many different pool areas that we did not get to see all of them!! The food is great at Zimmies, and the kids activities were great for the days when we didn't visit the parks!! The housekeeping was great, and when we needed extra towels or sponges, they always came within a reasonable time frame. We had 3 adults, 3 kids in the room and did not once feel crowded. The best features of the room are the huge whirlpool tub and the screened in patio. My kids and I were very comfortable there for the entire stay!! I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone with young children!!!

We stayed in the Cascades section of the Vistana the week of Oct. 31st. Had to wait quite a while at check in. Requested a crib and cot upon check in and received both within the hour. The room was nice enough. After settling in, we made our way over to 'Zimmies' for a quick bite. The placed was packed, garbage cans overflowing and one bartender on duty. Of course it was Saturday night, but it certainly did not leave a good impression. After waiting in line at the bar for drinks for 20 minutes, we eventually left. Definitely not the way to start out our vacation. Luckily, things went much better after that. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool at the Cascades, albeit quite busy during the day. The resort is a short drive to the parks and Disney Market Place with plenty of restaurants and stores nearby. Would have liked to have seen housekeeping more often than every 3 days. We kept ourselves busy washing towels. Don't count on the hairdryer if you normally use one...very old and not very effective. Best part was the Thursday sale at the Vistana General Store...40% off on everything. Got some nice Disney tshirts for everyone back home. Overall, the stay there was good.

Recently came back from a 7 night stay at the Sheraton Vistana Resort. This is a suite hotel - with one bedroom and two bedroom units each with a full kitchen and their own washer and dryer. We stayed in Cascades which is the newest section (followed by Lakes). 7 pools onsite - heated nicely, and very clean. Facilities were ok - kids activities are minimal and I found them expensive and not great (compared to other resorts like the Hilton, HardRock and the Disney resorts) But overall I think the hotel was great for families. Here is my advice...insist on Cascades and ensure you have a balcony. When we first got there, our room did not have a balcony but we complained and received another room with a balcony immediately. I would also ensure that you ask for the largest one bedroom or two bedroom as sizes vary significantly...visted 3 one bedroom suites in Cascades and each was slightly different in size. Tips - bring your own spices, teabags, coffee and filters - also if you can bring oil/vinegar and detergent from home, as sizes you need will be smaller than what they sell at Publix or Winn Dixie. Also if you drink hard liqueor buy it from the airport or in mainland Orlando - prices near the hotel are high for vodka and single malt scotch.
Food on the resort is ok - very greasy not that many healthy options. Convenient to many good restaurants, downtown disney and your own kitchen makes healthy eating easy on this holiday.

The resort is a timeshare and there is quite the hard sell. I went to a session and when I declined the unit at the end of the 90 min sell, the staff was visually '------ off' which I found slightly rude. One thing to remember about timeshare - cost is about $18K US for a 2 bedroom unit for one week, you get options which will allow you to take a holiday in a resort of your choice around the world (they were talking about the benefits of Haiwai to me) but the catch is an $800 a year maintenance fee...depending on the time of year you visit the cost over 15 years may not be worthwhile...we usually go to Orlando during low season and hotels tend to be inexpensive. Timeshare in Florida is not a great option for us but you should review your options and do your homework in advance if you want to consider timeshare.

FYI the Vistana on International Drive is a newer property and has better amenities.

I would go back. My children loved it. The space was great and the location to Disney (exit 68 off the I4) Magic Kingdom is only about 5 min away.

My husband and I found this resort to be disappointing. Check-in was fast enough but then we were told to get our "Welcome Pack" where a person tried to get us to go to a 90 min sales pres. "breakfast" in order to get free tickets to a Disney Park. We were not interested as we felt our time was more valuable. The room was in Cascades which was nice enough except for the bug in the soapdish and the fact that my husband could never get any hot water out of the tap to shave and always had to use water from the tub. We found the room noisy at all hours as we backed onto the Cascades Bar and Grill which had loud music playing, and the pool was open til 1am. We never used the pool as we were always busy at the Disney Parks and by the time we returned to the room, we were ready for sleep . Loud music and screaming from the pool was not a welcome sound. Next time I would definitely stay at a Disney resort for the same price. Also anything you but at a park, can be shipped directly to your hotel so you don't have to carry it around or pick it up at the end of the day at the pick-up place (quite a line when we were there). We were glad to leave this place.
