“Very Pleasant Orlando Vacation!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2014

I used an interval exchange from a friend to stay here (2-br, week of Dec 9th 2013). Top floor (3rd), room # 711 (I think).
I had stayed at the Sheraton Vistana Villages years ago and thought that was great, so I admit to not expecting too much from this place. However, I was very pleasantly surprised.
First the bad stuff...wrapper from crackers found under the twin bedroom dresser, poor television channels and no elevator. The sales pitch went for nearly 2hrs and they were somewhat pushy (shocker) but they were still courteous and professional. My husband and I were tempted but we held our ground and said 'No thanks.' and that was that.
Now for the good stuff...two bedroom was very spacious. Other than the wrapper the rooms were very very clean, good internet service, decent restaurant on premises (the Tacky Tiki Bar & Grill), beds were comfy and they even had a makeup mirror. Pool was nice, kids had fun,
The location is very good - we visited WDW, US (both),DD, Gator Land and AK. Very easy to navigate to all locations. Walgreen's down the street and many restaurants very close by like the Santa Fe Cattle Company.
Upon arrival the lobby was nicely decorated for Christmas and ever single person we spoke to (I mean everyone!) was super pleasant and courteous. The kids got light up swords and other freebies upon arrival.
I was glad we stayed here.

When it was just time share and still selling new units there, things were kept up at least in some parts of the property. The weekly fees were to cover maintenance and upgrades (so they said when I purchase it). Now up to nearly $800/week that initial $20,000 investment seems like a terrible mistake. Then there was the building upgrades that were passed on to owners at several thousand dollars per week. All of that wouldn't be so bad if one felt special for all this money. We don't. The only people "nice" are sales people trying to sell more. No one else cares about you at all. You are only seen as a source of more month for then and they are rude to boot. It's better to have little or no contact with anyone, since they are always trying to lead you to the sales office. I am even afraid to answer the phone, since it is always a sales pitch. just horrible. Now to the unit. They are just not clean like they should be (remember the $800/week we have to pay each year?). Trash on the back stairs the whole time. The maid had major "TUDE" despite my attempts to be friendly. I was mostly annoyed by the smell of furniture polish all over the pots and pans and worse in the refrigerator and freezer. It was getting into the food so I had to reclean all of this and still purchase baking soda. Smell finally gone after 5 days, but I was only there 7 days. The dishes were mostly dirty and stacked that way in the cabinet. The second week I stayed in a nearby hotel with almost the same space in the unit for $100/night. So less than my weekly fee and it was clean and the people were charming AND the internet was fast! At Vistana they now have two internet fees. It is free for 1MB up and download and $10/day for 4MB up and download. Again, they see guests as just a source of money. Too bad I am stuck with this.

We were there for one week in January 2014, in the Fountains II section.

We stayed in Building #56 and our unit was on the third floor. Notice that there is no elevator in this building. That was not a problem for us, but if it is for you be aware of that.

When I checked-in I was greeted by a very nice employee. She was very professionnal and very attentive to our needs so we were able to check-in early, which was really appreciated.

The unit was very very spacious and very very clean. The master bedroom has a king size bed, a big flat-screen TV, its own bathroom, a jacuzzi in the room and access to the balcony. The second bedroom has 2 double-bed, a big flat-screen TV and access to the second bathroom. There is also a sofa-bed and another big flat-screen TV in the unit.

The kitchen was missing a couple of items but they were brough to us very quickly when we asked for those.

The rest of the resort is very nice, many pools, training rooms, playgrounds for kids, basketball court, etc… We liked this place a lot.

This place is also very convenient since it is close to all the Disney Parks and there is a Walmart and a Publix within 5 minutes of the resort.

Be aware that the property is very big, so plan accordingly if you decide to walk from one point to another.

Room Tip: There is no elevator in the "Fountains" building so ask for a first floor unit if it is a...

My wife and I spent a week (Jan 11 - Jan 18) and had a wonderful time. We stayed in the Cascades section building 6 floor 5 in a 2 br unit. This building was next to the main registration building and parking but separated by a fence and we did not notice noise from the people registering. The unit overlooks a pond with a fountain and is away from the people traffic and noise of the cascades pool (about 1 block to the pool).

The good:

Fully equipped kitchen with dining table

3 flat screen TV's

Screened in patio overlooking the pond

Sleeps 8 (king, 2 full size and a full size sofa bed

Jetted tub for 2 :)

Clothes washer and dryer

The bad:

HORRIBLE WIFI.. The free wifi is so slow it is unusable and they charge $9.95 per day for faster wifi which is outrageous. For the price they charge (either daily rate or timeshare purchase) one would think they would have decent service.

Timeshare sales - they will try to get you attend a presentation and if you go expect a high pressure sales pitch

We really enjoy the resort and used our cell phone as a wifi hotspot to get a connection.

There are a number of public computers, with printers, in the Market. There are a few places to eat at the resort as well but nothing that I would call fine dining.

The resort is very close to Disney and close to a number of restaurants and other attractions and about 20 minutes from the airport.

Room Tip: If you want quiet try to get a room away from the larger pools. Also the 1 br units with partial ki...

I imagine the number of positive reviews for this property come from guests who haven't stayed at many villa/condo properties before, and therefore don't have a basis for comparison. Generally speaking, compared to a standard hotel room, the Sheraton Vistana Resort is a huge upgrade - as would be most any villa or condo.

The facilities are aged and subpar. They are more or less clean and well-appointed, though we had a bathroom spa tub which had black mold in the spouts. The master bed was quite comfortable and the sofa was okay. We switched rooms due to the noise level at the first unit.

Check-in was average, too long a line after so much traveling; we were just exhausted. We asked to be added to the "no call" list and were never bothered about attending a time share presentation. We had requested a few specifics, high floor, quiet area, and they were honored. We ended up moving due to noise, but the move was handled professionally and courteously.

The complimentary high-speed wifi was abysmal, and we ended up riding our phones the entire stay.

I was surprised to find so many "missing" items; little things that you find at other brand name resorts, but not at the Sheraton Vistana. No: shampoo or conditioner, laundry detergent or fabric softener, placemats, cloth napkins, or sponges. I'm sure I'm forgetting things. I'm an owner at a Marriott and I thought for sure housekeeping must have forgotten to stock the room. I called Guest Services and was assured that no, none of those things are included. My mistake.

I was very saddened that there were not many fun activities other than one or two decent pools. We'd been looking forward to sand volleyball and the like, but if there were planned activities, we never found them. I'd be hard pressed to stay here again, although it is world's better than a hotel room for sure.

We thank you for sharing your observations, and opinions expressed with the Trip Advisor.
We appreciate your choosing the Sheraton Vistana Resort to spend your vacation.
While the Property is about thirty years, the 1682 villas have been recently renovated, both interior and exterior for it’s aesthetics and special features/design to enhance the ambiance with the nestled landscape.

The items you were expecting to find in your villa (mentioned) are not usually stocked, yet they can be delivered to you immediately with one simple request.
We are very sorry if you did you receive a copy of the Weekly Activities Calendar, which is planned for your enjoyment. The Fun Team offers a variety of Daily Activities for all ages! We are hopeful you will ask for your copy on your next visit to help you stay informed what's the special during the day/night or week end.

Thank you for allowing our team to accommodate you satisfactorily, as we are sorry about the noise from others guests. Once again, we thank you for sharing your comments and experience.

Not sure why all the negative reviews. We had a great time.
Room was great.
Pools were great.
Excellent location and friendly staff.
Shops were local and a Miller ale house down the road.
Would recommend without doubt.

We are timeshare owners at this resort and have been for over 25 years. We come every Christmas. The villas are clean and spacious, most sleeping up to 8 people. Everything is provided, from bed linens>towels>washingup liquid>toilet rolls.... There are 8 pools around the resort, mini golf, tennis courts, a gym, snack places, restaurants and a general store...... The resort is only 15 minutes away from Disney and 5 minutes from Disney Marketplace. Lots of good restaurants close by.

Room Tip: We always ask for a top floor villa in the Casacades.
