I was expecting a suite comparible to the photos on web site. many of the suites are older, smaller,
darker, outdated, and musty smelling. We were placed in Springs village
even though we requested a newer site. The newest units are given to
the timeshare owners, but this is not explained on the web site; and
one cannot get a guaranteed assignment until sign-in (essentially a
bait and switch operation).
Tennis facility was nice and no charge if you brought your own equipment. Contrary to promises, the staff was unable to arrange any matches or drills the entire week we were there.
Do free photo -- no pressure. On site store was adequate. Staff was friendly and helpful. Larger pools were congested.

We just returned from our family trip to Orlando during one of the busiest seasons of the year, Spring Break. We are Sheraton/Starwood owners and decided to stay at the Vistana Resort and found it to be a good choice. Very kid friendly and lots to offer. We stayed in a newer Cascades unit and found it to be very clean and decorated with cheerful colors. The kitchens were wonderful time savers as we ate breakfast at home before leaving for the parks. My two boys (5 and 9) loved the resort, kids activities, tennis and all the pools (and catching lizards and frogs in the evening!) We used the "Lil Gator" club one night ($20 total for both kids) so we could go out for a nice dinner. Our kids enjoyed it and what a nice treat for us after spending lots of time at the Disney parks! We chose not to use the shuttle service and rented a car. You can get great internet rates for cars and I would advise of this since many of the Disney parks are only 5 minutes away and the cost of parking is only $7 a day. With kids, you may leave mid-day and return at night with fewer crowds. Many restaurants, shopping malls and other activities are very close by. As for check in, go to the Sheraton Vistana Resort website and sign up for "Diamond Lane" check-in. This will be a huge timesaver during busy times. Our wait was minimal. You can also sign up for USA Today daily delivery and pre-stock your refrigerator prior to arrival. Do not use the general store on-site for groceries. Very expensive. Go to the Publix, 5 minutes away, on Vineland Drive for groceries. The only negatives are the work-out facilites are older and in need of better updating and the Cascades pool was very crowded due to high season. Try going to the Falls or Courts pools which were much less crowded. Also, if you attend a "owners breakfast" which is supposed to last only 1/2 hour to update you on Starwood information, be prepared for a sales pitch to buy more time-share properties. We love our ownership and it works for our family, but were surprised that they wanted us to buy more (of course, that's their job). We received a $40 credit for attending, so it was at least worth our time. All in all, a great week in a beautiful resort!

We have stayed at Vistana Resort 5 times now. Each time we request the Courts although two times they tried to put us in the newer units. I have read all the negative reviews about the older units but we prefer them. They are either ground floor or one floor up, but the parking is always right in front of the unit. It makes it easy to haul in groceries and purchases and water toys, etc out. As this was the first phase built, it is close to everything including pools, stores, etc.
The balcony goes straight out into a large court yard or playground, so the kids always can run around outside and feed the ducks or play without worry. There is no excess noise here and the interior is older but certainly clean and not worn out. I would definately ask for the courts everytime! I have stayed at Vistana villages which are newer units and our balcony went nowhere and was dark and dreary. The courts upper units have 2 story windows to let the light in. There are 2 tvs but no tvs in the smaller bedroom, but we're not there to watch 3 tvs, too much other stuff to do. And no jacuzzi in the master bedroom, but when we did have one, we didn't use it anyways. Everyone else can stay in the newer units, then the courts will be available when we want them!

We stayed at the Vistana over Spring Break and loved it. The villa was great, we had all the conveniences of home. The staff was also friendly and very helpful. If we needed anything they saw to it. We plan on staying there again next year. Ask for the Villas on the lakes or the fountains. The beds could have been softer, but that was the only down side. Very conveniently located.

I recently returned from a two-week vacation in the Sheraton. Having read some negative comments, especially of the older units I was a little concerned that the resort and staff would not be up to standard. I need not have worried. Both the resort and staff turned out to be excellent. We were allocated a room in the falls area (one of the oldest on the resort) which turned out to be as good as any I have stayed in anywhere. The apartment was large, well equipped with beautiful views of the lake and wildlife (so much so that when we had the option to change for our second week to a newer unit, we decided to stay where we were. Check in/out was fast and courteous and the staff were always helpful. My only slight criticism was that the on-site restaurants were a bit ?fast food? like for our tastes. The following is included for the main benefit of non US visitors:-The resort is a bit away from a lot of the entertainment areas but not so that a car is a necessity. We used shuttles and taxis for the duration with no problems e.g. shuttle from/to the airport was $25 per person return, shuttles from the resort to Disney was $7 pp return, taxis to the parks ranged from $15 to $20 single way and would pick you up and drop you off at the room. .There are some external facilities within easy walking distance of the resort e.g. bars/restaurants, supermarkets, chemists, liquor stores, doctors etc.Weather in February is not great (can be wet and very cold)Feel free to email me if you have any specific questions I have not answered.

We just returned from the Vistana today after a week long stay. We have a two and a four year old and we stayed in a 2-BR unit in the Fountains. We didn't check in until 9pm and had to wait in line for about 20 minutes which was frustrating and then were put in a room that overlooked the highway. We called down to the front desk and were moved immediately to a room across the way with a balcony on a pond with a fountain which was much better. The room was clean and the furniture and carpet seemed updated but the cabinetry could use some refurbishing. Overall, we liked the resort. For some reason housekeeping came to our room EVERY day which we couldn't figure out since other people we talked to said they hadn't come at all after five days of being there! The resort was well kept and the pool we used nearby wasn't that crowded and was perfect for the kids since they could go in gradually and we could sit on the edge or go in and know that they were safe.

Overall, we were glad that we tried this resort since we had heard a lot about it but we stayed at the Vistana Villages last year and I liked that property better, both due to the newness of it as well as the size. (This resort was just too big for us.)

My husband and I stayed here during Easter weekend of 2003. We had a wonderful time without the kids. We played and went to the theme parks just by ourselves. We loved the fact that the units have washer/ dryers and full kitchens. We stayed in a studio and had planty of room. We will definitely bring the children next time as there is lots to do for them. I would recommend this place. Although some of the units are older and some looked a bit run down but ours was new. They have many pools and are open until 11 p.m. All in all a great trip.
