“Very Happy with our experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

We went to the Orlando to help our daughter settle in as a Vacation Planner intern at Disney World. It was the hotel recommended by Disney for this occasion. We were very impressed with the hotel, the employees, service, and cleanliness. Employees were very helpful.

Unfortunately the Applebees attached to the hotel left quite a bit to be desired. Service was INCREDIBLY SLOW. It took over 20 minutes for the server just to bring us our drinks (water and soft drinks) after we ordered them. Then another 15 minutes to take our orders. Then another 35 minutes to bring out our food!!! If we hadn't been there with other families, we would have gone to McDonalds. Now, I realize the restaurant is not affiliated with Holiday Inn, but I thought it only fair to let you know our experience.

I wish Holiday Inn would get with the program like other chains and offer at least a continental breakfast. We went out every morning (no way we were going to that Applebees again!.

Other than that, everything was excellent, and I would still recommend this Hotel.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2013

We stayed at the HI Resort during the first week of January. We arrived around dinner time and were upgraded to a family suite for no charge, and also got free parking, simply by just asking and being polite, something many of the guests were lacking... We were given coupons for our kids to eat at Applebees for free anytime we wanted, and found the staff we dealt with to be very friendly. Our kidsuite was clean and located in the back building right near the fitness centre, which is great, and well equipped.

Applebees has a pretty good variety and we got pretty good service the few times we ate there. There are also a ton of restaurants around the hotel that you can walk or drive to. We drove to walmart and picked up juice and some breakfast things, and did breakfast in our room most days. If you do this, pick up plastic cutlery. They sell it in the shop by the lobby but it's ridiculously over priced. Also, the wine in the store is 4x as much as if you venture out and get it at a walmart or liquor store. There is a fridge, microwave and coffee maker in the room which was great for quick snacks.

The pool was big and heated great so we could swim, even on cooler days. There are 2 hot tubs, and we never had a problem getting pool towels. My only complaint is that the tiki bar was never open, and there is supposed to be a phone to call for drinks if you need them. The phone was no where to be found, and you can't enter the building to get your own drink from applebees without getting dressed. They also didn't honour any of the drink specials if you were taking drinks outside to the pool. I found that really dissapointing since I was on vacation, and a drink by the pool is kind of standard.

The resort fee is standard, anyone who travels can expect this. It covers free wifi, which is average, same as any hotel wifi, and even with the resort fee, the hotel is a pretty good price. There is a ticket booth also, where you can get all your park tickets, and you save a little bit of money if you bundle your tickets. Sea World is free for your entire family if you're in the military.

The room was spacious and clean and the kids had bunkbeds and their own TV. Room was clean, with the exception of one day. Our room was missed, so I called down and they came and cleaned it while we were at dinner. Walls are a little thin, but I've stayed in very few hotels where they aren't. You also have to remember that by staying near Disney, you're signing yourself up to be near tons of families, children and babies, so if you're here for business or romance, you might want to stay further from the property.

Disney food is horrid, and I would suggest to anyone who isn't used to giant portions of low quality food to pack lunches or plan to spend big money on the sit down restaurants in the park. The best bet is breakfast in the room and dinner off the Disney property, so you only have to suffer through one meal in the parks.

We didn't use the shuttles, we chose to rent a car and although parking at Disney is 14.00/day, it was completely worth it so we could leave the property and come back rather than being stuck on the schedule of the shuttle, which didn't run as often as some of the other reviews had said.

Overall the hotel was clean, spacious, and not overly loud. Again, remember where you are and plan to spend money, it's Disney and Walt isn't giving anyone a deal. Do your research and plan accordingly.

Spent 2 nights here bringing my daughter to check in to work at Disney World. It's directly across the street from Vista Way, one of Disney's "dorms" for employees who live on site which is why we chose it. We arrived around 10am and they let us check in early which was nice. Staff was friendly and competent enough - though I had a large package delivered and it took them 3 tries and 10 minutes to find it, even though I had the name of the person who signed for it. Turned out to be under the counter next to the front desk. The place is large, the pool was definitely nice, but other than that it's nothing close to a "resort" - certainly nothing to justify $12.95 a day "resort fee". The lobby was small and not exactly interesting. There is no gym or workout facility. They do offer free parking and free Wifi, but in our location at the back of the resort, it disconnected constantly, and was, for the most part, unusable (never could connect with my ipad). The only food service option is AppleBees. They do have a large sundry store with a good selection of wine, beer, soda, t-shirts, health/beauty - but no real food options other than the AppleBees (and really bad coffee in the sundry shop in the morning). We didn't use the shuttle. The room, however, was quite nice - very large by most hotel standards, included a fridge/coffee maker, large flat screen (we didn't use it). I noticed it was a little dusty in a few places, but the bathroom was very clean.
If it wasn't for the $12.95 resort fee, I'd have given it a higher rating - it would have been a good deal for the price. But adding in that fee (and the myriad of taxes), it dropped to only average.

Dear Tankminder,

Thank you for the positive comments of our property and you experience. We are sorry that you missed the Fitness center during your stay, it is located between buildings B and C and located on our map but due to it not being connected to the main building it is very easy to miss it. Please also allow me to apologiize for any delays in getting your package to you, thank you for the comments as we will address this to ensure it doesn't happen in the future for our guests.
We do work hard to offer the amenities one would expect for our resort designation but during the off season some services do not get the participation they do in warmer months. The resort fee does include the scheduled shuttles to the theme parks, self parking, the in-room safe, free local phone calls and supervised activities by the pool along with many other features such as the Giant chess and checkers and the new Splash Pad. We hope to see you during season to really get a feel for the wonderful resort atmosphere we can bring you! Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any other assitance. kdinatale@hiresortlbv.com

Best Regards,

Keith J Di Natale

We stayed here on our recent trip to Orlando, and the hotel is nothing impressive. While the staff was nice, the hotel itself is in need of some renovation to the main service areas. The entire hotel smells. You notice it when you enter the hallway and the room smells only marginally better. The only way I can describe it is it's like the place has been flooded previously or the cleaning people clean with dirty water. The hotel is not exactly conveniently set up for easy access and we had to walk a long way to reach an elevator. The walls are also paper thin. Each morning at 6:30 am we had a family of four screaming at their kids to get up and get ready to go to Disneyworld. I could hear every word of their conversation clearly. On the plus side the beds were comfortable.

I stayed one night and enjoyed the experience completely. The rooms are very spacious, there is a great desk for working and the internet (wired) is excellent. The room, and the hotel in general, was very clean. The staff were friendly, especially at the front desk.

The hotel offers a large outdoor pool with plenty of lounges. There is a business center but I found the computers to be a bit dated and not well set up, even for routine use.

The hotel is in a great location relative to Disney, the airport and other local attractions. Not the hotel's fault, but the traffic in Orlando, even in January, is terrible.

All in all, a very good experience. If I return to the area, I won't even bother looking at other hotels.

Only real downer is the Applebees. I am not a fan and when I went there for dinner, they did not surprise me. Fortunately, there are many other options in the area.

Just retuned from three night stay. Room was large, clean, updated, including flat screen TV. Check-in was great and felt they really wanted to accommodate us even though we booked through Priceline. Easy access to the highway so getting to the Disney parks was fast and easy. Would definately stay again.

We picked this place because we were only coming to Orlando for one night and didn't want to spend a fortune on a hotel we were only sleeping in. Also picked it because of reviews here, because it's pet friendly and its proximity to Disney. Staff was friendly and accommodating at all times, day and night. Met our request for two cribs immediately and with little wait. The room was near the pool and it was exceptionally clean but it had that old motel smell which kind of makes me a little queasy. Loved that it had a convenience store that was open late. Applebee's looked nice and busy too, but didn't go in. The shuttle to Disney is kind of a racket because of limited times. You're better off driving to Disney and paying to park. Seriously. We made the mistake of driving to very nearby (a huge plus) Downtown Disney thinking we'd get a Disney bus straight to Magic Kingdom. Not so much. We had to take a bus to a Disney hotel and then get on the monorail. Getting back at night was worse as we waited again at a Disney resort to get on a bus to take us to our car at DD. That was a huge time waste. Would rather spend the money and park at Disney. But if you're looking for a clean hotel, reasonably priced (except that resort fee was sort of another racket since there's a pool there and that's about it--parking at motels are always free--and let's not make any mistake--this is a motel , not a resort, with a pool ). As for the pet friendly part--it's $40 per three days for your pet to stay, so one night or two nights and it's $40 (which is typically less than overnight boarding at an animal hospital or kennell), and best of all, no smell of dirty dogs or their droppings, just that pesky old motel smell. Would I stay here again? Probably not, but it was exactly what we needed for one night in Mouseland.

Dear Lesley A.,

Thank you for the kind words about out staff and facilities. Sorry to hear that the scheduled shuttle times did not fit your visit schedule. Our shuttle does not run continuously but does have several morning departures and evening returns, we wish we could accommodate most schedules but know we can not fit everyone's needs. I have contacted you to find out more about the odor you referred to so that it can be corrected.

Thank you for choosing the Holiday Inn Resort LBV.
