Conclusion: The place is a CLEAN outdoor entrance type motel, like a $75 Red Roof Inn, but your premium pays for free buses to Disney world AND airport!, huge pools for the kids, and a reasonable Foodcourt with about 3 separate kitchens, serving selfserve salads, made to order hamburgers, and plated meals like fried chicken or pasta. They also have whoel pizza roomservice.
So, if you have no car and plan to stay on Disney property and Fly in, then I would have to say this place is a good value. Rental cars in Orlando are pricey. I kept getting like $30/day in 12/08. So surprisingly, for us $150/night rate was the better overall value. Especially since we got a discount from Expedia which made it about $100/night. NOTE: shop around all the websites. I use to think they all the same, but sometimes different websites have different specials. I think Expedia is more in link with disney versus Travelocity or Orbitz.
Anywho, i digress.
Basically the hotel is clean, furniture is acceptable for that usually annual trip to disney vacation mentality with family or friends. If this is your special 20th anniversy marriage and you make like 500k a year and expecting a great once in liftime experience at disney....I probably dont' recommend this place.
But if you like DISNEY WORLD alot, and consider your hotel just a place to sleep and want a clean simple place with easy bus access to all the parks and reasonable pools and reasonable quick bites to eat...then i recommend this place. I would say $100/night is the cutof price.

SO to conclude:
good things: clean, onsite foodcourt, onsite disney giftstore, big pools, buses to parks, onsite airport checkin! (i think only delta though).
bad things: pricey for the actual room, takes sometimes 30mins for buses.

The All Star Movies resort was a nice place to stay. My husband and I traveled with another couple. We shared a room with two full sized beds. The hotel was very nice and clean, and they were even kind enough to put us in the requested building on arrival. (Toy Story) We paid a little extra for a preferred room, and that turned out to be a lifesaver. The first night was awful. Our neighbors in the adjoining room were extremely loud. They were a group of around 6 young teenagers who had no supervision. So, they were yelling, screaming and thowing things against the walls. Once an hour an angry adult would come in and scream even louder at them to shut up. (That didn't help our sleep any.) This continued until around 2am when they finally passed out. We called security, but they refused to do anything because the children had put the "do not disturb" sign in the door. We found that a little annoying, but oh well.

The next day we asked to be moved to a new room. They told us the hotel was full, and that would not be possible. After one hour of my husband VERY politely asking for the move, and explaining different possible alternatives, and 3 managers later, they said that because we had paid for a preferred room, they would be willing to move us, but we had to be out of the old room in 15 minutes so they could clean it. We were out in 10, and they put us in a very nice room in the Dalmations building. No problems for the next two night. Patience, and politeness and paying a little extra, really paid off.

The restaurant there is just fine. It's worth it to buy the mugs that have unlimited refills. They have coke products, tea, hot chocolate and coffe for unlimited refills. The food was good. Cheeseburgers, pasta, chicken, salads, pizza and icecream. That sort of thing. They had good choices for breakfast with pancakes, cereal, eggs, hashbrowns, waffles, omeletes, etc. It was all a bit bland, but that works out well for my pickyness. A bit pricey, but what isn't pricey at DisneyWorld.

The resort was pretty. The 50 foot tall Buzz light year, Woody, Pongo and Perdita were funny. The pool was nice, with a fun sorcerer Mickey spraying you with water. Although, the water was a bit cold the one night we got in. The lifeguards tell me it's normally heated to 82 degrees. Not that night! Oh well. We still loved it.

Transportation to the parks is done via bus, and we never had more than a 5 minute wait. The bus ride is a tad long, but that's what we get for getting the cheapest resort hotel.

It was also our anniversary and one of the other couples birthdays. They had anniversary pins all ready for us at check in, and a birthday pin for her. After our first night, they had special photopass cards waiting for us on the bed that give us 20% off our picture order because we were celebrating. That was a nice touch. They also had really cute towel animals in all the windows, so as you walked down the balconies, you could see all the animals everyone got.

Overall, we still prefer the Caribean beach resort, but the movies resort is our top choice of the All Star's. It was a good weekend. Though, if you want a quiet weekend at the parks, DO NOT choose the ESPN weekend. :) That is the busiest I've seen the parks at this time of the year. (I'm an annual passholder and go around 10 times a year.)

I have to admit I was nervous. We usually stay in Marriotts and Westins on vacation but after the advice of friends with kids we decided to stay at All Star Movies and are really glad we did. The rooms are very, very tiny and you need to be organized to keep the room in order but with that being said you don't need much in the way of a room-you are not ever in it! The room was perfectly clean and cleaned each day. The staff was alway nice and helpful. The resort has outside hallways so there is some noise but it is tolerable. The meals at the restaruant are really good and we were surprised. The meal plan is a must at Disney. Transportation to the parks is good and timely. Yes, these resorts are the farthest away from the Magic Kingom and Epcot but you don't share your bus with another resort they are express. It takes about 15 minutes to get to Magic Kingdoma and Epcot but only a few minutes to Hollywood studios and just a bit further to Animal Kingdom. Our friends stayed at Carribbean Beach Resort and were upset when they saw our room....exact same room, size and all just different decor and about another $50/night. The pool is basic but very large. All in all if you have kids stay at one of the budget resorts and spend your money on fun stuff. If you are going for a romantic weekend then stay somewhere else, but the budget resorts are a great idea. My kids loved the themes.

My fiance, son and I just got back from Disney. We stayed 8 nights at this hotel. The rooms are small and do need a little updating perhaps, but it is a value resort and they aren't charging $400 per night. The bed linens and rooms were clean as were the towels. The housekeeping staff did a great job with the room each day while we were out enjoying the parks (especially Ricardo). The only complaint I had was the stains on the walls in the bathroom which look as if they need a good cleaning.

The hotel has 1900 rooms so it is relatively spread out. We stayed in the Fantasia section and my son loved the pool. The temperatures were in the high 70's and low 80's the week we were there so we took the opportunity to use the pool several evenings. We were told it is heated and it is, but not to a comfortable level most days. The fountains in the pool are nice, but kept the water very cold. The other smaller pool in the Mighty Ducks section was much warmer, but it was a trek to reach from our room and with temperatures plummeting in the evenings (we were there in late February) it wasn't a comfortable walk.

The transports to and from the parks were timely and efficient. The food at the hotel cafe was mass produced, but surprisingly tasty given the amount of people at the hotel during our stay. A little crowded, but that wasn't the hotels fault. I do NOT recommend the pizza you can order for in-room service. They only have one size available and it is bland and over priced for the quality.

We made reservations for several table service restaurants based on the recommendation of one of the concierges who was very helpful. We had the misfortune of dealing with a different gentleman the next time we went to the desk for assistance and he was EXTREMELY condescending and unfriendly. We spent time in the arcade and had my son's picture drawn at the on-site kiosk. The gift shop is handy for every day needs as well as souvenirs. The only complaint was that there was a large group of Italian teenage girls that arrived midweek and were very rude. They seemed to feel that if one of them is in line in front of you then all of them can line hop...and they were paying in change!!!! After 15 minutes of waiting to pay for an item I finally had to speak up and say something to the cashiers before they would recognize the situation. Overall, a great trip!

We just got back from our one week stay at the All-Star Movie Resort. We stayed in the Fantasia building, one king size bed. The rooms are small, and not much storage for two adults and two small childrens clothes.

I'll have to say the staff at the hotel were great. Everything we asked for we received. Two pack and play cribs, crib sheets, more towels, face clothes, help with the luggage, airline check-ins etc.

The rooms are setup in a motel style, all the room doors face out. The building was a bit loud due to alot of foreign visitors and lots of kids, but this is to be expected in a kid oriented hotel. The rooms were clean, sheets were clean, bathroom was clean so there is really not much to complain about. It was a change for me as I am not used to staying in this style hotel, but overall we had a good time. If you want fancy, this is not the place. This is a very simple, cost effective hotel if you are looking to do Disney on the cheap.
