“Awesome value resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2014

Yes it's a value resort. Actually cheapest place in Disney World. So yes the toilet paper is cheap. And really do you expect to go to Disney World and aren't expecting crowd's and noise??? But our preferred room was clean and equipped with a bar fridge. The towels certainly weren't the softest towels I've ever felt but perfectly fine and the soap and shampoo was very yummy smelling. Our maid did a wonderful job cleaning every day and there's really nothing I could complain about and I tend to be a bit harder to please. Our beds were relatively comfortable and room was very quiet, other than when people walked by outside.

We ordered groceries before our trip from Garden Grocer and had them delivered to the hotel. This allowed us to eat cereal each morning in our room and we took peanut butter and jam sandwiches a few days into the parks saving us quite a bit of money. We also purchased bottled water and pop this way and some snacks. Anyone on a budget I would definitely recommend checking this out.

Just so you know they do have toasters and a microwave in the food court to use as well as jams and honey in the condiments. Also you can ask the cashiers for cups for water to help keep costs down.

The hotel provided us with pick-up and delivery to the airport. Every person we encountered was friendly and helpful. Really didn't meet a person on the resort who didn't provide excellent customer service!!

They had outdoor movies each night although it rained most nights we were there so the movies were brought inside into the food court area. There were also games to partake in. Our little ones played a trivia game the one night while we ate supper and won some fun prizes.

They have 2 pools with life jackets easily available, as well as a small playground for the little one's to play with.

I would definitely recommend the resort and go back there anytime.

Room Tip: Pay the few extra dollars to get a preferred room. They are much closer to the main lobby therefore...

To start, for the benefit of international readers viewing this, in the USA a Super 8 is a cheap roadside motel offering the bare minimum of amenities for a cheap price.

Now then. Where can I start? The rooms are available in two varieties... king beds appear to ONLY be available in handicapped rooms, which have no bathtub and the shower water runs all over the floor like a gym locker room. All other rooms have two double beds. No, I didn't say queen. If I meant two queen beds, I would've said queen. Two tiny double beds unfit for a grown couple to share. We tried one night, and I spent the rest of the trip as a bachelor with my wife in the other little bed. I tried pushing them together like on a cruise ship, but no luck, they appeared bolted to the floor.

Speaking of cruise ships, my wife observed that the furniture in these "refurbished" (?) rooms appeared to be repurposed from a Disney cruise ship cabin. The dresser/entertainment center had odd side cubbies for storage like you'd find in a cruise cabin, with a weird empty cupboard for a fridge, but the fridge was across the room.

But I digress... The toiletries were the bare minimum, literally a little bar of soap and a small shampoo bottle. That's it, the end. And some threadbare towels that I assume may have at one point been bathmats in a nicer Disneyworld hotel property. There was an old-school room safe with a flat metal key that you had to keep track of, lest you be charged a replacement fee. No digital safes here. There is a hair dryer that kind-of blows air out. The TV set has a very basic remote with no multi-function features (ie, room bill review, interactive menus, etc).

In lieu of a restaurant, there is a food court at this property. I only had breakfast there, and essentially you are paying cash (or Disney Dining points) for what comes free at a Super 8 motel... watery powdered scrambled egg mix, little bacon strips that are 98% fat, etc.

The previous reviewer who mentioned the noisy hordes of Brazilians was correct. Our last night there, we were treating to marauding throngs of them stampeding around outside our room singing and shouting, stamping their feet late into the evening (10 PM-midnight). I called Security after the first hour, and once they admonished the noisy groups of unsupervised kids and then left, the riots continued for another hour with even more vengeful gusto.

Now this is the part of the review where you, my reader, thinks, "Well you COULD have just stayed in 'Le Supreme Suite' at the Grand Floridian resort, so stop your whining!"

To which I reply: a) No I couldn't have, because I am neither a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon nor a trust fund millionaire kid. and b) I'm not whining, I am simply trying to share a detailed view of this noisy, sprawling, uncontrolled, overpriced motel so that other "budget-minded" travelers can at least be prepared for what awaits them here.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the pool, away from the ground floor, away from walkways and paths, and awa...

Our second day here some 100 brazillian kids unloaded into our resort. Rude and loud, the shear volume of them left no room for other guests to travel through the cafeteria, the resort should set restrictions on such groups, such as stagering them into smaller groups at prime breakfast, lunch and dinner times so they dont all come at the same time and infest the resort.

Very convenient. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Buses were a convenient way to get around. It's also a plus that you can park anywhere on Disney properties with your parking pass. Staff was very friendly and thorough.

Room Tip: A room closer to the parking lot will make it easier to get your suitcases to your room.

If you are used to staying at a deluxe resort, it is likely you will not like a value resort. There is a huge difference from the towels to the toilet paper.

Check-in for us took forever even though we checked-in online and only needed to pick up magic bands. There were just so many people there. Everyone was very nice and a cast member in the lobby gave us a coloring book and crayons while we waited.

The room was a little worn but clean. Beds are comfy. Did not hear any sounds from the rooms around us but did hear loud footsteps on the walkways outside the room.

The cast members, hotel decor, and location make it special. If you are looking for luxury go somewhere else.

The online checkin did speed up the process, but I was not asked to set up PIN for the magic band which created an issue when we went to the food court to grab dinner before heading to the park. The rooms are an average hotel size & were clean. Both chairs had holes in them. We were lucky to have a refrigerator because many rooms did not due to a recall. The biggest negative is that the All Star Resorts share buses to most of the parks, and the Movies is the last of the three to board & unload. On our trip back from Animal Kingdom so many people boarded at the Sports that the driver did not go to the Movies but went back to Animal Kingdom. Needless to say there were at least a dozen passengers that were very irate when we arrived at AK! The driver did request permission to head directly to the Movies & he took us back at this point. The resort airline checkin is a must do!
