The Point Hotel & Suites

I stayed at the Point Orlando for 3 nights in February 2013 with my partner. While not flashy or with top class facilities the hotel definitely met our expectations, considering the reasonable price we paid.

We stayed in a standard king bed room which was very spacious. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was nice and there was a nice little couch which was a good touch. We also had a good view of the pool. And while it was too cold to try out the swimming pool it did look pretty good!

The only low point is the gym, which was didn't have a lot in it and for someone who wanted to go to the gym for weights this was a massive disappointment. The photos on the website showed more equipment than was actually there. Which was disappointing.

But what really stood out was the service. The bell hop (his name was Josh) was one of the nicest hotel staff members we've ever met by a long mile. He greeted us upon arrival, helped take our luggage to our room and as he was leaving told us that he would be more than happy to help us out with anything! When we went downstairs to open a safe and the reception staff were very busy, Josh decided to do it for us (which is well beyond his job description). The receptionists were also very friendly and helpful. Friendly staff who go out of their to help tourists with anything they need really makes your stay at a hotel more enjoyable.

We would both definitely recommend and would stay there again.

This resort is an all suite, owned-unit facility; with short term rentals. we stayed two nights. They do charge a $10 resort fee, which covers wi-fi, parking and a few other odds and ends (but not breakfast).

It is located within an easy walk of Wet N Wild at the north end of Universal Blvd. I had read somewhere that is walking to Universal, but would not recommend trying that! The immediate environs are empty lots or industrial sites. Not super attractive, but that will surely change in a few years as growth comes there. Plenty of free parking.

The rooms are overall nicely appointed. A few oddities; very loud bathroom fans, a big gap at the bottom of the outer door that lets in light that might be annoying to families sleeping in the living room. Our unit had a huge bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped.

Breakfast was very mediocre. See picture--that's the entire breakfast bar. It consisted of two chafing dishes of hot items, a very limited selection of cereal, yogurt, breaks, coffees and juices. However, I will say it is probably worth the $10 charged since it is adequate and time-wise very convenient. Many guests seemed to partake in breakfast.

Staff and management was very nice and friendly. We didn't have any real special requests, but there was always someone around to ask a question or help around the pool, desk area, etc.

The pool area is nice enough. Note that you will run into squatters who take the chairs. The pool goes from 3' to almost 5' if i recall, and the water is nice there. Towels are plentiful. There is a bar outside too though I did not use it. There is a very small fitness room with some worn out equipment.

Overall: I'd rate this hotel a B-.
One important note: on TripAdvisor, I'd seen this was one of the top romantic hotels in Orlando and that was an important reason I chose it. I'd suggest that is far from the truth. The clientele tends to run to long term stay people, extended families (both kids and vertically with grandparents), a lot of non U.S. nationals. Think people bringing in cases of beer to hang out by the pool all day! Not trying to be judgmental with those descriptions, but just pointing out it is not romantic. There were very few couples that I saw, and I would look elsewhere if that's your intent.

We were visiting Orlando specifically to go to Universal Studios. We found The Point Resort on tingo.com and we were very impressed with the reviews and the price. When we arrived we were even more pleased with the hotel. It is a lovely up-to-date property with amazing views of Universal Blvd. The pool and tiki bar were delightful with good appetizers and burgers. Health club was very nice. We got an executive suite which had nice leather pullout sofa and microwave, frig and bar sink. The location was just 2 miles from Universal and very convenient as well since it was surrounded by other attractions and many, many dining options. Bed was comfortable. Friendly staff too.

Room Tip: The 12th floor offered a quiet room with an amazing view both during the day and at night. We could...

Went here with my girlfriend for 10 days. Main purpose was to hire a car and hit disney. In terms of location its round the corner from the waterparks, and about a 20 min drive to the parks.

The hotel was beautiful with a real smart feel to it. We had a small apartment style room with room kitchen etc. Was good that you could stock up and load the fridge, save on the eating out. Loaded this with fresh water before the day at disney.

Only complaint is the wifi is weak and you have to go out by the pool to get signal. Other than that a good choice for couples and families alike.

The rooms and accommodations are excellent. the place is very clean, freshly painted and each suite comes with every fine detail it does not go unnoticed.
The pool side bar serves good food and refreshing drinks.
They did not have flat screen TVs in my suite but that was just about the only thing missing. The place is very cute! the beds are very comfy.we also enjoy the view.
no extra charge for parking and the Wifi is also free.
The Hotel located very near the main Whys.Walking distance to the water slide park, and to the troly ride.there is also a walgreens near by.Will recommend this hotel to everybody.

A very convenient hotel and very helpful and friendly staff. I would recommend this hotel. You may need a car however there are I-trolley buses which run regularly if you want to get out and about. The hotel run shuttle buses to all the parks including universal studios and Walt Disney. Wet n wild is within walking distance and international drive offer lots of places to eat and drink.

Point Orlando is a great place to stay whether it's a few days or a week. I traveled alone, and had a king one bedroom suite all to myself -- more than enough room! The living room had a sleeper couch and its own entrance to the shared bathroom--nice if you had another person or kids staying with you, they don't have to disturb you to go to the bathroom.
My room overlooked the pool, which was a nice relaxing view and the afternoon sun shines right through the apartment, keeping everything bright and warm.
The only downside i would say is that the room service is basically just sandwiches--nothing you'd want to pay the 20% service fee for. Skip paying for a breakfast voucher--the food, while not at all disgusting, is just not worth the money they charge, and the frequency at which they replenish the buffet is very low. the seating area is clearly not enough for the number of guests they serve. if there were a restaurant on site, this place would be a perfect 10.
