The Point Hotel & Suites
Ranked #20 of 342 Hotels in Orlando
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed December 15, 2012

Because of the low season (stayed beginning of December), the 1 bedroom suites were very well prices (less than $100 a day), and for what you get, this was a very good deal!
We got a room on the 7th floor, overlooking the swimming pool and Carrier drive. A fully equipped kitchen, witch electric cooking, full size fridge with ice cube maker, dish washer, toaster, coffee maker (you get 2 cups free, additional cups $1, but they refill daily for free).
We loved these features for preparing your own breakfast, we even prepared a diner once.

The room was very clean, you get loads of TV channels and the balcony is a good place to sit at night to rest from a long day of visiting theme parks. The balcony could've used a small table though.
The bed was very comfortable, although the springs are a bit noisy when you get into bed. The thermostat of the air conditioning was in the living room, so it sometimes takes a while to kick in in your bedroom, so it can get a bit warm from time to time, but was very quiet.

Universal City Walk is 25 minutes walking and doable. They do offer shuttle services, but we didn't use them. International drive is just a few minutes walking away.

Staff in the hotel is very friendly and helpfull.

We didn't use the bar at the swimming pool.
If we ever go back to Orlando, than we'll definitely stay again!

Dear Mark K -- Thanks for the review, and your comment about being one of the "best hotels" you've ever stayed in. That means a lot to us. I'm sorry about the bed springs. I'll have Maintenance check into that, since it's not a typical issue we hear about. Thanks for the suggestion about a table on the balcony. We'll put that on a list of future enhancements. Nice to read you'll "definitely stay again." See you then!

We stayed here without a car.

We booked a double king bedded room since I was traveling with my adult son. The front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful. Our room, unlike the suites, did not have a balcony nor the washer and dryer. Since the suite next door was unoccupied, the hotel let us use the washer and dryer in that suite. That was cool. Being smokers, and not having the balcony, we had to take the elevator down 11 floors to smoke, not so convenient for us. I am planning on returning next year but will book a suite next time. Yes, they don't clean the rooms every day, but they do make the beds, take out the trash and freshen up the room.

The room itself was comfortable and came with 3 K-cups for the coffee machine for the total stay of 4 nights. We are huge coffee drinkers so we bought a box at Walmart, to avoid buying them at the front desk for $1 each.

The pool was very nice as was the pool area.

We used the hotel shuttles to get to IOA and Universal Studios & Epcot in the mornings which was fine but the return hours did not suit us so we took a taxi back the 1st day for $6 and walked back from US the 2nd day (20 minutes). We did the same with Epcot, shuttle in AM and cab back for $30.

As for the airport shuttle, we just used Mears which did a great job of it. Cost $30 per person RETURN fare. They were on time and using clean A/C vehicules.

Cons: The windows could use a good cleaning, not only in our room but the public ones as well. There were scruff marks pretty much on all doors and walls in the room and also hallway doors. I think they are due for a paint job. There is no restaurant on the premises, was told they are in the process of building one. You can however, get food at the poolside bar but do go down and get it yourself as we waited over 1 hour for a pizza and they called our room several times and were very confused. There are many restaurant/food options within a 10 minute walk.

All in all we had a good time here and I would still stay here when I return with my daughter next year.

Dear Moqueen -- Thanks for taking the time to review your stay. I think you're wise to plan for a 1-Bedroom Grand Suite next time, especially for the balcony/patio alone. And I think you were also wise to buy a box of K-Cups at Wal-Mart. A good savings! Thank you for the feedback regarding the windows and wall scuff marks. That's not up to our standards of cleanliness, so we're notifying our staff to pay special attention to these areas, throughout the resort and in all the suites. While we don't have a table-service restaurant, the Cabana Bar & Grill serves a wide variety of food for lunch, dinner, snacks and cocktails. I'm sorry for the confusion regarding your pizza. That shouldn't have happened. And the lobby Barista, in addition to the buffet breakfast, has sandwiches, coffee and snacks throughout the day. But, you are correct, that there are a lot of other reasonable dining options walking distance from us. Nice to hear you'll be returning with your daughter next year. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly if there is anything I can do to help with your plans.

We have visited the Point Orlando Resort at least 4 times in the past and it is certainly a perfect place for us to stay when visiting Orlando. The staff is above & beyond friendly and accommodating and the location is great. There is not any intrusive foot traffic disturbing your rest, nor are there any instrusive staff members bothering you about this or that. Although it doesn't have any 'spectacular' views - it makes up in comfortability, size and space. The one bedroom suite is certainly our choice again and again. Great get-a-way!

Room Tip: If you want to save money on dinner, go for a full kitchen. They have all of your needs to include p...

Dear Patrick H -- Thanks for the review, and welcome back! I'm glad to hear we're your "perfect place" during an Orlando visit. I'm sorry you didn't have a "spectacular view." Some of our suites overlook the pool or Universal's fireworks. Perhaps next time, if you request it, we might be able to find you a better view, to add to your enjoyment (no promises, though!). See you then!

Very clean hotel, definitely worth the price. The staff is above courteous. They actually offer to help you without you asking. The room was like brand new and the bed very comfortable. The outdoor space is very relaxing. The only disappointment I had was there are no balconies with single rooms and with just 2 of us we did not need a suite. The balcony would have been nice.

Dear Rainy1963 -- I appreciate your review and glad we were able to exceed your expectations. That's what we're always going for. You're correct, the Executive Junior Suites don't have balconies or patios. Perhaps on your next visit you can splurge for a 1-Bedroom Grand Suite. It's really a very good value, with a full kitchen, washer/dryer and more. Hope to see you then.

I've been coming here once or so a year since the place opened. Each time, they have expanded their service in some way. This time, I was pleased to find the wifi now extends throughout the entire hotel, and the signal was strong everywhere I tried it. The front desk mgr. that checked me in was very clear about the reduced maid service. You have to pay extra if you want what is typical in a hotel, to happen every day. Otherwise, they empty the trash and change the towels, and make the beds. That's it. The drinks at the pool were great and the staff in the hotel were all friendly.

Room Tip: Make sure to request a pool view!

Dear Alex P -- Nice to see you back, and thanks for the review. I appreciate that you noticed the new WiFi service. But you forgot to mention the expanded Barista in the lobby! ; - ) It's our staff's pleasure to give all our guests outstanding hospitality during their stays with us. I'm looking forward to your next visit with us.

This hotel surpassed our expectations. We stayed here on the recommendation of friends, and it did not disappoint. Usually the hotel is the weak spot on a vacation, but it was not the case here. The kitchen was well-appointed and had everything one needed, and then some. The bathroom was the nicest we've ever found in a hotel. The people were fantastic. The pool area and workout room were also the nicest we've seen. The location is perfect for access to the theme parks we were visiting as well as convenient to the major restaurant row on International Drive, yet amazingly quiet, being one block off. We'll definitely be back, as we've never been so pleased with any place we've stayed.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the pool rather than outward towards the street. Also, I'd refrain from the fi...

First time stay at The Point, loved the location to Universal Studios and The Pirate Dinner Show. Thoroughly enjoyed my 2 night stay, and I am a hard sell ! The front desk even allowed late ck-out for a half-day back to theme park without penalty !!! Would highly recommend, and would definately stay again.
