We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom, 3 bathroom villas with a savannah view. The rooms were great-spacious, clean, and the views of the giraffes and zebras were fantastic, especially for our small children. However, this hotel is in a fairly remote location and offers only one restaurant on site. Neighboring Jambo House offers a few more, but it's a 10- minute walk from Kidani Village. All the food is African/Indian fusion, and got very old after 5 days. Food options for the kids were extremely limited. We also got the Disney Dining Plan, which was only a good deal because it was free. It was confusing to keep track of our credits and the Signature Dining charge of two credits was a rip-off. Drinks & gratuity were not included. This is not an "all-inclusive" option.

In February 2011, my husband and I attended a convention in Orlando and brought our two kids, aged 10 & 12 and a "nanny". We used our DVC points to book a two bedroom villa with an interior room. The staff at this resort had to be among the friendliest and most helpful we have encountered at Disney. You could tell they had pride in their resort and wanted to ensure you had a great vacation. We usually stay at our home resort Saratoga Springs, so we were excited to try something new and I was sure the kids would love the animals. They did, but so did my husband, which was almost shocking! He is not an animal lover, but we were constantly drwn to the balcony each morning and night to watch the animals! We really liked the pool area, small and manageable. We did not feel apprehensive leaving the kids each day with the 20 year old nanny who was a friend of our older son, knowing there were plenty of lifeguards at the pool. One day we tried out the pool at the other Animal Kingdom building, and we enjoyed that as well. It seemed to be a much more lively and active crowd. The decor was dark, but certainly not "old" or outdated (our only real complaint about villas at wilderness lodge). We would stay here again without a doubt!

Room Tip: Our room had nearby underground parking and was close to the pool which was convenient! If you plan to cart a bunch of luggage and groceries, ask for a room near elevators.

Maybe I expected too much from AK, but we couldn't help feeling that we were in a 1970's, dark, dingy hotel. The communal areas are great and savannah is lovely. But, very odd that there is only one shop, so fairly strange set-up; geared towards self catering? Pool area is really nice. No jogging trail though - given the amount of space this is a missed opportunity?! It's an experience. Well worth a stay, but go with lower expectations and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Had an AMAZING time with our first time staying on points with our Disney Vacation Club Membership. We had no idea the resort would have so many activities to do without even leaving to go to the parks! Great food, kids activities, awesome pools both at Kidani Village and Jambo House and lots of animals every morning greeting us as we woke.

Room Tip: Ask about which side has which animals- they are separated by areas and don't mix so if you want to see zebras, be sure your room opens to the enclosure with them in it :)

One bedroom was spacious and very clean. However, the layout and beds (1 king, 1 pull out, 1 pull out chair) lend to the room being best suited for a large family. We were traveling as two couples and it worked out ok but those in the living room didn' t have any privacy. Loved having two bathrooms - the master is especially nice. There is not a fast food option on site so you'll want to bring along some snacks or pick up something on the way back from the parks if you're hungary.
