Never been to Africa but the safari ride made me feel as if i was riding through its jungles and plains. Giraffe crossed our way and I could almost touch it. Loved it.

Get to the park early! You want to do the Safari as early in the day as you can. We heard this and got on the ride by 10am. It was a really hot day and the animals were already hot. The Safari driver told us that the hotter it is the less you see. The animals retreat to the water and the shade. There is so much to see here. And so much fun!

There is a lot of variety in things to see and Disney does an excellent job of creating a feel for each area so your senses forget that you are in Florida (minus the FL heat)....

Spend a full day here. It is worth it! Little kids can enjoy this place too! Lots of things to touch and see.

Visited Disney's Animal Kingdom a few weeks ago with a party of 14 people including six children. The kids had a blast riding the river rapids ride three times in a row. The safari was great and we saw all kinds of animals. The park is much less crowded than the Magic Kingdom and much more shaded. It was a great, relaxed theme park experience. The Fast Passes are totally worth the money. We will definitely go again! Only complaint was the food choices....

Animal Kingdom is a nice and much more laid back addition to the Disney World empire in Florida. It includes a passable zoo with several fun attractions. In the off season it is also not swarming with tourists and 3 hour waits. We went on a Tuesday in mid-May. Arrived at the parking lot (a bit of a trick to get into with a switch-back in the road) and did self parking. Had to wait about 5 minutes for a tram to the park. Since we arrived at 2:00, we went straight to the Africa section to get in line for the Kilimanjaro Safari. We had planned to use Fastpass but these said to wait until 3:00 to return. The line was only 30 minutes so we waited - it only took 10 minutes. The animals were somewhat obviously in separate paddocks but it was still enjoyable and we got some good shots and views of the animals. We then hiked over to "Asia" for Kali River Rapids. Again, 30 minute wait only took about 15. The ride says you will get wet. You will, possibly soaked, especially your pants and butt. Cameras and cell phones should stay in your bag and be put in the cubby in the middle of the raft. During the day, we never had to use Fastpass and never waited more than 15 minutes. I would recommend Animal Kingdom as a welcome break from the hectic crowds in Magic Kingdom. With only 6 or 7 attractions other than the zoo walks, it is an easy half day. During the summer or holidays, however, the lines will probably make it an all day affair.
