We returned to the Berowra Fish Cafe with friends because we enjoyed the chips so much last time, but as a previous reviewer noted, the standard seems to be dropping.
The service was very slow. Basically there just weren't enough people in the kitchen to cope with the number of customers on a pleasant Saturday lunch time. We had to wait quite some time while staff finished salad preparation and food delivery before they acknowledged our presence and took our order.
To us the chips didn't seem the be the unique hand cut ones we had last time, but rather a wide flat commercial variety found in a few clubs around NSW They have a thin crispy layer on the outside, but are floury inside - not the thick crisp outside and nice firm insides that we remembered. Disappointing also was that my battered fish and the grilled Barramundi our friend ordered, both had bones in them.
Given that it is such a nice location, we hope the day of our visit was a momentary lapse in standard.
