We had a great stay at Club Continental in Orange Park, FL. The property is situated on several acres of the St. Johns River and the grounds are just beautiful. It peaceful, beautiful, quiet and the service was great. Highly recommended. Great for a couples getaway.

Arriving at night is tricky, as GPS hasnt truly found its location. We arrived at the front door amidst a wedding reception, which was fine, but did not set the tone for the era in which this mansion was built. Harry the inn keeper had a delightful personality, and showed us around the property despite the loud event. Our room was the mediterranean suite, which was dated, but had creaky wonderful floors, original full opening windows and a great view of the river, especially at sunrise. The bed was comfythe and linens were very nice, but be prepared for a flower pot shower. The River House Pub on site is a gathering spot for locals affixed to their barstools. Very colorful crowd. The pub is rough around the edges (was scared to use the restroom). The property's landscape is the best part if you can overlook the adjacent condos and parking. What a fabulous place this must have been in its heyday. Worth staying in for the nostalgia, if you can get a discounted rate.

I visited and lodged at the Club Continental in November for my sister-in-law's wedding. The only thing going for this place is it is on the St. John's River.

When I checked in 15 minutes before the requested time, the concierge in the front office was very rude, short, and disrespectful and asked me to "come back later", she was "busy". Is 15 minutes an issue considering there wasn't a guest in my room the night before...
Second.. When I finally gained access to my room, it was extremely musty and layered with dust, not to mention there were PUBIC HAIRS on my so called "clean towels" and in the "clean bathroom". I expressed my concern to the front office and they did deliver new towels, however, gave me an attitude first as if I "inconvenienced them". There was no hot water and the air conditioning was blowing dusty hot air...
Lastly on a personal side note... A week before the wedding my father-in-law unexpectedly had open heart surgery. Due to the surgery, the doctor advised him to sleep in a comfortable chair as opposed to a bed/couch. We asked the concierge if they could assist us with finding a chair in one of the other rooms we could borrow for the weekend. Again they said "sorry they were busy and couldn't help us". When my family is spending $25,000-$30,000 on a wedding at their facility, one would hope they would be compassionate and give us some kind of help.

I would not recommend this venue to anyone!

We were in jacksonville the day before we boarded for our cruise. Talked friends into staying at the club. Very relaxing and enjoyable. I think our group had the whole top floor. Club and hotel staff were very friendly, especially the housekeeper. she gave helpful hints for our cruise. They were able to have our rooms ready about 1, so we were able to sightsee a little. And get back early enough to enjoy the river house bar. Breakfast was wonderful and relaxing. Only complaint no ice machine had to get it from the restrurant downstairs ,after hours no ice. :( and management wouldn't give us a group rate. Because i have cheap friend and the rest would have come for a little better rate . We had 8 couples only 4 stayed. Christmas decorations were going up they were beautiful!!!! Would go back and stay if ever in the area. Staying inside the house was a neat experience.

We stayed in the River Suite (room 204 -all rooms are different decor). The room was extremely spacious, very clean and very comfortable. The deck practically hangs out over the St. John's river. The fish can practically jump onto your deck (but don't). The views are wonderful. We spent two very restful nights there. The only meal we ate there was breakfast (twice). If was wonderful and the menu was creative. Take advantage of the small pub next to the River Suites. Its fun and the pier over into the river is one of a kind. The grounds are very well landscaped. Get out and enjoy it. This is a MUST place to stay if visiting Jacksonville. We will be back and will bring friends.

Room Tip: Check Club Continental's web site. All rooms are different. You get a great tour off all rooms...

I was married here and fell in love with the location at first glance. The Club Continental embodies old romance. The architecture, the service, the views, the dining---all 5 stars! An unexpected suprise in Orange Park.
