“Lovely Kent Idyll”
Reviewed November 24, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We have been waiting for our home to be built, and continuing delays meant that we had to keep finding somewhere to stay. Willow Cottage came up, and for several weeks we felt at home - the family here are welcoming but not intrusive, and everything is in good working order - just what you need when trying to carry out normal everyday tasks! As a family holiday home there are beautiful walks in the area and a treasure trove of activities for kids. Being out in the countryside we were warned that internet might be sporadic, but we experienced no problems. Highly recommended.

“Idyllic place to stay with children”

My husband and I stayed in Dairy cottage at the Hamptons, with our two boys (aged 3 and 5) in the first week of August this year. On arrival we were given a warm welcome by Andy, the owner of the cottages and one of his daughters showed us around, which was a lovely touch! The cottage itself was cosy, homely and very clean. My boys had the most wonderful time exploring the grounds. Each morning we would feed the horses in the neighbouring field and then our boys, who love animals, would visit the family's rabbits to pet and dote over. The cottages are surrounded by spaces ideal for children to run and play freely in. My children especially enjoyed playing in the hidden tree houses, whizzing along the zip wire and taking it in turns to row the boat on the duck pond. There was so much for the children to discover and do, we truly had an unforgettable holiday. Katie and Andy, the owners, have created an ideal place for a family holiday and the little touches dotted around, both in the cottage itself and the grounds, made it feel like a home from home. We have lots of happy memories from our
stay and we look forward to staying again soon!

“Beautiful place to stay for a wonderful family, exceeded all our expectations.”

Willow cottage is the most beautiful place we have ever stayed. The views over the countryside are stunning. We have particularly enjoyed exploring the tree house with the children and the zip wire has been a firm favourite with both our children aged 7 and 3. There is plenty for the children to enjoy on site and plenty more to see in the surrounding area, including some lovely beaches. The Tanswell family are very welcoming and kindly introduced us to the rabbits and chickens on site which the children really enjoyed. Willow cottage is a beautiful place to stay we have had a wonderful family holiday here and hope to come back again. There is something here for everyone.

We needed a four week base, while back from Australia, to visit family and friends with our four month old daughter. Hamptons Farmhouse has more than surpassed our needs and expectations. The location, surrounds, cottage and hosts are all just perfect. Katie & Andy have thought of everything and more. This truly feels like our home away from home.

“Great Location in the Kent Countryside”

Willow Cottage is a delight ... Clean and well equipped. It was nice to have items such as bread, butter, jam and wine ... Oh, and chocolates ... In the cottage when we arrived. Katie and Andy were terrific hosts ... Andy very kindly gave a tour of the property and was available to assist with any question or with tour advice. Speaking of which, the Welcome to Willow Cottage notebook was an excellent guide to local activities from shopping, to castles, to pubs, to the farm itself ... It is the best such guide we have ever seen in our travels and we particularly loved that Andy and Katie had included personalized comments regarding the places to eat and attractions ... Very helpful and much appreciated. While the farm caters to families - and we have no children traveling with us - the cottage and surrounding farm were peaceful and we welcomed the relaxing surroundings during our week long stay.

We had a fantastic stay. An excellent place for kids with lots of space to run around and things to play on.

It has a very rural feel. The hosts are lovely and very welcoming.

“Good cottage, remote location, poor internet.”

The cottage was clean and in good condition. The location very remote - which was fine for us and good things for the kids to do in the grounds - such as gypsy caravan, tree house, trampoline, lots of swings etc. Also there was a nice welcome pack. The only issues we had was the water pressure was rubbish so a shower wasn't great, however the deal breaker for us was the internet was pretty much non existent. We appreciate due to the location there is nothing they can do about this, but for us it was a big issue. Overall if you are not bothered about the internet and want an idyllic remote location, you can't go wrong!

Management Response
Feb 26, 2015
Thank you for your positive comments about the location and all there is to do in the grounds.

Your comments about the Wi-Fi are however not representative of the norm. Normally, we have a good 4Mb/s download speed and we have several routers providing a network of Wi-Fi connections in and around all the cottages. The Wi-Fi was not available/poor for a number of days during your stay as the broadband provision to Hamptons Farmhouse was reduced. This was out of our control.

We completely understand, and recognise, the need and importance of good Wi-Fi connectivity and I can confirm that this is now back at normal levels after visits by BT OpenReach and working with the ISP.

I am sorry that during your stay the internet provision was low, but can confirm to other potential guests that we normally have a good Wi-Fi provision.
