It is difficult to find new words to describe the amazement and senses of being somewhere special for an overnight stay. The best I can say is We tried to think of any excuse to justify staying at least another night to savior the experience in full. We could not but will certainly return for a few days of pure relaxation

Room Tip: If you are staying more than a couple of days go for one of the cottages

By far the best B&B we've ever experienced. Wonderful getaway. We stayed two nights in the Frontier cottage which is handicap accessible. It was spotless, well-equipped (down to the snacks and drinks), interestingly decorated. Lots of amenities - an Internet computer, or for those who bring their own electronics, free wi-fi; movies, books, games. Also a well-equipped kitchen, iron and ironing board, toilet articles - toothbrushes and razors should you have forgotten to pack them. Even a stackable washer and dryer, a first for us. Bed was comfortable (albeit a bit of a challenge to get into as it was very high but stools were provided for climbing into bed); two-person jacuzzi was great with powerful jets. Setting was bucolic (except for the trucks that could be heard from the highway a block away) - large well-landscaped, well maintained lot with the main house and five picturesque cottages, each with its own theme and front porch. Breakfast was so ample we skipped lunch - last morning we were there we were served banana nut pancakes, sausage, bacon, fresh fruit, and mini muffins. If you stay in a cottage, normally breakfast is not included but they do have cereal, milk, juice and coffee but we had a special package deal. And you can opt for breakfast at $5 per person, a very good value. Hosts Nan and Gerald were helpful offering suggestions for things to do and where to eat, as well as providing discount coupons for area businesses. We took advantage of one and went on the St. Johns River Eco Tour which was quite enjoyable. We can't wait to return.

Room Tip: A caveat with regard to the handicap accessibility of the Frontier cottage; it is not 100 percent accessible - there is a ramp which works well and for the most part the cottage is manageable. I am not in a chair fulltime so it was more than doable (I use a walker indoors) but the shower is not roll in and the living room is full of furniture, although I suspect furniture could be removed to make it more manageable for a chair. The toilet has safety bars and the sink vanity is a table so there is room for a wheelchair. There also is a ramp into the main house but it is awkward (goes into a bedroom) and would have required some effort on the part of the owners (which they would gladly have done) but we opted to just have breakfast in our cottage.

Gerald and Nan Hill have created a beautiful experience with their B&B, Alling House. Unlike most B&bs we have been to they have expanded theirs into five additional cottages that are themed. They have full kitchens, living space and showers plus jacuzzis in most. There are three bedrooms in the main house. The cottages are fully stocked for continental breakfast, but you can choose to have Nan's lavish breakfast every morning if you prefer. There was absolutely nothing lacking in the cottage we stayed in. The grounds are extensive, lots of relax spaces.
They are near the St. John river and springs and Gerald will take you to the river with their kayaks, help you "push off" and pick you up when you are ready. They have bikes available as well.
And e price is right. One night we had a local culinary institute trained chef come to our cottage to make a dinner for us, through Alling House, which was excellent. Matthew Blade, the chef, provided us with a great experience. A five star stay

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Homestead Cottage. It is right behind the main house and it is very very old fashioned vintage setting! The owners are super sweet and helped us out with cooking dinner by provided us with the supplies we needed. The homestead cottage was a very cozy little space with the main floor and then a small loft for children. I loved the black spiral staircase within the room. If you want a true B&B, definitely stay here!
If youre not from the area, be prepared for the bugs because its just a cottage on some land (not like other hotels!). We werent too happy with the dead roach we found in our dryer but it is an old place in a rural area. We also had a poor wifi connection but we werent in the room often anyway. We got a bit freaked out by the old garden tools on the walls and the dolls but it was supposed to be a vintage setting lol. Parking can be tight too.
Overall, it was a very homey experience, very very old fashioned!!

This place feels like home, every detail and need is taken care of here! The owners are so amazing, hospitable, and friendly. The kids loved the property including the tire swings and getting to use the kayaks that they offer here! We had a great time and breakfast was also delicious :) Thank you so much to the owners and we will be back!

Room Tip: We stayed in the railroad cottage that was decked out in vintage railroad decor with model trains and an electric train with track in the private room. Fun for the kids!
