My favorite springs, not only because I love close by but it's got everything. Winter brings in the manatee's by the hundreds and in summer it's the best place to cool off. They have really fixed it up lately with the addition of more tables and showers as well. Snack bar and bathrooms are also available.

This is my favorite place to bring friends to observe Manatees (season Mid November thru March. The Water is fairly clear. There is a wheelchair acessable boardwalk. We would get there about 9:30 to 10 (park hours 8 am to sundown all year) Walk from the start of the boardwalk to the Spring Boil , Besides Manatees there are Gators, Turtles, Herons egrets Ahingas,
Numerous fish can be seen from viewing platforms along the spring. There is a small museum in the Thursby House, I dont recall if it is handicapt acessable. There is a small Gift shop/food concession on site. There is also a boating tour and rental on site. Note during manatee season the spring itself is closed to boating, swimming and diving. After getting our fill of nature we would enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the tables. The Staff is friendly and helpful. After manatee season Scuba, Snorkeling, tubing are allowed. There is also a swim area There are 2 cabins and camping is allowed

We have been to many of the Florida Springs. This one has a short run, but the spring head was interesting. Very deep, however unless you are scuba diving you can't get far down. There were some younger party types hanging around the spring head. I can see that in summer it would be very crowded. The run it's self is shallow you can walk the entire thing. Good for younger kids, also good because you don't need to rent a canoe or kayak. If you want to see the best Spring in Florida go to Rainbow Springs!
The campground was dense with little tree cover, we only drove thru, I would not tent camp there.

Blue Springs is very quiet for the most part and plenty of nature ti see. The swimming area is very nice with access to the springs area. Note: the water is on the cold side and takes some getting used too.
