My family and I stayed here to visit relatives. We stayed at the light keepers cottage for a few days abd have to say the place is just wonderful!
What made it more special was my partner asked me to marry him down by the boat house over looking the Atlantic. It was perfect and Julie helped by putting a bottle of Champagne in the boat house to celebrate afterwards, which I had no idea. Nothing is ever to much hassle.
I have very special memories of this place all thanks to Julie and her family, cannot thank you enough. Needless to say we will definitely be returning soon.
Wow! It's knowing what words to use to do this place the justice it deserves. After the most beautiful drive in from Cork airport through some of the most dramatic scenery Ireland has to offer, nothing prepares you for the amazing view as you turn into the drive. Just stunning, I can guarantee it will leave you speechless. The beauty of the view is of course comparable to the friendly smile and very friendly welcome from Julie and her family who make you feel like an old friend coming for a visit as soon as you arrive.
The property itself looks out over the sea and is roomy with every whim catered for. The fittings are top spec and it's obvious to see the love and attention to detail that has gone into making this the perfect holiday getaway. The beds and bedding are of excellent quality and no expense has been spared in making it so you feel totally pampered. The kitchen is fully kitted with anything you will need no matter how obscure your request. I can guarantee if it isn't in that kitchen then you don't need it. I couldn't bring myself to use the dishawasher though, that would have been an indulgence too far and totally ruined me :) but I would imagine it very handy indeed for a larger family.
I will definitely hope to stay here again very soon, if just to sit looking out at the view and totally relax. A fantastic place to get away from it all, thanks for letting us stay.
We booked this cottage for a 3 day brake away in September and ended up staying for the week, and we have just come back after another week there. what a place, its so peaceful and quite and if you just want to get away from everything this is the place to go "a total technology detox" , there are some great walks in the area, and some lovely and clean beaches as well. but it was the view, we spent hours looking out at the view, we were very lucky we got to see basking sharks and dolphins in the bay. the cottage had every thing we needed and the family were very friendly and accommodating and one sons even let me join him fishing. There is no shops are pubs in the area there are a 20 minute drive away so do your shopping before you leave castletownbere because once you get here YOU WILL NOT WANT TO LEAVE. they even let us bring our dog with us on holidays. and we are looking at going back again this summer.
My husband and I stayed here in September 2016. Best accommodation around this area. The self contained flat had everything just had to take clothes and your personal items. It was so peaceful and some days we just read our books had a cuppa. At night we sat in the conservatory with our meal and a wine and admired the beautiful views. There was some great walking paths we even took the cable car over to Dursey Island. There is even some great fishing spots. So do your self a favour and check this accommodation out.
