A place difficult to describe. If you want to see something unique (the traditional meaning: one of a kind) then this is the place. Solomon, an ecentric craftsman, has takes a previously swampy and built a castle using whatever was on hand. To drain the swampy area he dug a moat, then built a model boat (the boat in the moat) and turned it into a restaurant (pretty good food at reasonable prices). There are tours through the castle to see the weird, humorous, unique works of "art." What I liked best was the way Solomon, who was present and, I'm told, is usually present, take junk and scrape and turn it into art. As I reread this I can tell I'm not doing the place justice.
Bring a camera and plan to spend a few hours there.
There is no fee to see the property, but there is a fee (don't recall the amount, but it's not expensive) to tour the castle.

We toured the "castle" and grounds and had lunch at this eccentric tourist ripoff in a swamp. There is no question that Howard is an artistic genius with a flair for marketing his oddball creations. However, he seems not to care about the unsanitary condition of the rest rooms and inept restaurant staff. When you combine the musty smell of the house with the deplorable rest rooms and poor food service, the shabby excursions we've taken in the Caribbean seem first class. This place is a waste of your time and money.

Howard Soloman bought the land and started his goofy works of art around the mid 1970's. Quite an unusual accomplishment. He and his many staff will provide much information and many laughs. Good food! If his location is within a 30 minute drive or between your destinations don't miss it. Adults will appreciate it more than children.

This unique gem in the wilds of middle of nowhere Florida harkens back to days gone by of roadside attractions simply because it is so far off the beaten path. Leave your preconcieved notions on the Interstate, and treat yourself to a visit. If you are lucky, you will meet the artist in residence. The restaurant on premises is enjoyable, too.

A very interesting place, owned by someone with a vivid imagination. The food in the restaurant was good. A little bit off the beaten track, but worth the trip.
