Driving down the 584 looking for, of all things an Applebee's for lunch, we stumbled upon Dad's Bar & Grill and decided to give it a try. The interior is straight out of 60-70s kitsch, wood paneling, early American furniture, but the food was excellent and the wait staff (expected to see Alice, Flo, & Vera at any minute) friendly, courteous, and entertaining. Made sure our drinks were full and even stopped to chat, but not annoyingly long. The menu selection a little too much (Gordon Ramsey would have a field day). We didn't have to wait long for our food; and, when brought to our table, the portions are generous and it is delicious. I had the Chicken philly cheese steak. It was huge and hot..not burn your mouth hot, but edible hot. The fries were thick and crispy. My husband had the bacon cheeseburger, and he commented that it couldn't be a third pound because it was huge. He ordered it medium well and though it was more medium because it was a little pinker than it should be for med-well; but no complaints because he thought it was delicious and juicy. And of course, you couldn't beat the price. Our meal ticket came and was under $20.00! Highly recommend...in fact, we did tell our friends while in the area, that if they haven't been, they should give it a try!
