I have previously eaten at Amrit Palace Indian Restaurant and enjoyed good food and decent service. On this occasion the meal started out with service a little slow but the food was delicious. One guest was disappointed that the restaurant did not have a bar other than wine and beer but I enjoy having a Kingfisher beer with Indian food and I was satisfied with that. Another guest had wine which was presented in a single serve bottle. My Rogan Josh and Naan bread were both delicious. One guest's Lamb Mushroom was said to be excellent as well as was another guest's Chicken Shahi Shaag. As we finished our meals our server disappeared, not from the restaurant but he ignored completely our efforts to get his attention. Eventually another server removed the dirty dishes from our table and we asked if we could get our check. At least twenty minutes passed before the check was brought to the table by again a different server. Meanwhile tables around us were getting their bills, paying and leaving! Then we attempted to get someone, anyone, to take the check and our credit cards so that we could pay the bill. But that was still not the end of the story. Another fifteen minutes passed once we had persuaded a server to take our credit cards before someone brought the checks back for us to sign and that happened only after one of the guests sought out management. This unnecessarily unpleasant dining experience is not likely to bring the two guests who had not been here before back to the restaurant. Whether I will risk this kind of treatment again is unlikely.
