“good, bad, and mediocre”
Reviewed April 9, 2011

The Mango Lassi is one of the best that I have ever had.

The service and the samosas were good.

The entrees were mediocre.

You can see from my other reviews, I normally write tons, but honestly...this place was rather uninspiring either way. Were I in Ocala again, I would probably stop in for a Lassi, but otherwise, the food is rather "take it or leave it".

“Still a fabulous Indian restuarant at a new location”
Reviewed December 8, 2010

Amrit Palace has been our favorite restuarant for some time in Ocala, Florida. They have recently moved to a new larger location, just east of Exit 350 from I75 on SR 200 in Ocala. The restuarant has been rated No 1 in Ocala in 10best.com

The food is still excellent Indian Fare, and the people are still very nice, the type of people you want to see succeed.

However, the rush of people to the restuarant on 12/4/2010 showed that a few wrinkles of organization for larger crowds need to be worked out. But I am sure the family will handle this very soon. Looking forward to our next visit. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Will update with a new picture soon. And the price for lunch is still $7.95.

“The food is still awesome in the new location!”

I had the lamb saag, naan, and hot mixed pickle...delicious! I really like the new digs, too. Great atmosphere!

“Should Have Stayed Small”
Reviewed December 5, 2010

The formerly great Amrit Palace has faltered at its new, larger and attractive location. With the restaurant 2/3 full, dinner for four couples resulted in 4 of us getting appetizers at least 10 minutes before the others even got their bread order. Some of the dishes arrived cold. The food was not as good as we remembered from the old place. No one offered drinks, so we had to ask and then refills required multiple requests.

Prices are high compared to other ethnic restaurants in the area. Pre-tip, our checks ranged from $32 to $46 per couple with no alcohol. Our initial request for four separate checks resulted in one being presented, which required more than ten minutes in line at the counter while all was refigured.

Overall our experience was very disappointing.
