Owner description: Our founders, the Thompsons, connected over a mutual love of animals, and thereafter discovered an unknown breed of horse, developed by British Gypsies, while traveling through the English countryside. After a four-year journey to understand these horses and the culture that created them, we took part in naming them: the Gypsy Vanner horse. The Gypsy Gold Farm is home to the first 16 registered horses of a breed that's now 5,000 animals strong. Our 40 acre ranch is an educational and cultural oasis, where visitors to Central Florida learn about one of the most colorful and least understood societies on earth and the magical Vanner Horses they envisioned.

Wish I could afford one of these beautiful animals! They are so friendly and look like they would be a really comfortable ride!! If you love horses, you would enjoy this tour and the Gypsy Vanner horses and Mule Moms! You need to go to learn about the mule moms! Such an interesting way to raise foals! I was raised in Ocala and never got to visit one of the farms! Thank you Dennis Thompson for making all this possible!

We live about 5 miles from this farm and decided to attend the tour. It was a wonderful suprise! What was so facinating was the history presented to us by Dennis Thompson. Where this breed of horse originated and the amazing story of their eventual introduction to the United States will definately keep you interested and laughing. We were met by Erin who immediately made us feel welcome and special. During the tour she added stories of each of the horses and told of their unique personalities. The Gypsy Vanner breed (you will learn where and how they got their name) is a gentle and inquisitive breed and enjoy interacting with people. Even the mule moms needed our attention. Once you take this tour you will know why Ocala is "The Horse Capital of the World" This tour is definately one we will be taking our families to when they visit. Truly for all ages.

This tour was a total wonderfully surprising experience. We had heard about these beautiful horses and wanted to see them. We were told the owner would talk about the history of the horses for 45 minutes (i was totally expecting a snoozefest). I was truly SAD when he was done. The story of the horses and the breed is not only informative but mesmerizing as Dennis is entertaining and charming. Erin (the talented and wonderfully passionate) employee was a jewel in her own right. We also got to photograph and pet many of the horses and mules. VERY interesting, entertaining and downright fun. We are in our 60's and our daughter is 27 and we were equally amazed. I recommend any and all ages. Next time we will bring carrots and peppermint! We will go back. :-)

Much more than our expectations. Dennis Thompson's history and fact filled presentation left
us wanting more. Our time flew by. Getting up close and personal with the Gypsy Vanner
Horses and Mule Moms was exciting.
This is a must see for all ages and one that you should revisit.

The presentation and tour exceeded my expectations. I was impressed with Dennis Thompson's integrity when discussing and presenting the history of the 'Gypsy or Traveller' peoples. He has a very entertaining and interesting manner of presenting. The information is never dull, and is not 'dummed down' for the public.Good job! If I didn't live so far away, (Western Canada), I'd definitely attend this attraction again and recommend it to all my friends!
