We enjoyed a visit to La Cuisine with another couple. As mentioned by other reviewers the ambience is welcoming and comfortable. The staff are attentive and quite friendly (more so than in some restaurants in France where we've dined) but certainly not intrusive. The menu was true to type. We all enjoyed our entrees - pork shank, coq au vin, and cod, and their accompaniments. The desserts we tried were excellent, as was the wine recommended by the waiter/proprieter. The salads were fine, the soups OK.

Nice to see an upscale restaurant in Ocala - one where we look forward to another opportunity to try the offerings.

We had been to this restaurant when it first opened, and were not impressed with the cuisine. The Beef Burgoyne looked like beef soup, and the breast of chicken was dry. However, La Cuisine remained in business, and we thought we would give it another try.

The decor of La Cuisine is very well done. The color on the walls, dark woods, white acccents, tablecloths, gentle french music all combined to make us relax. It also heightened our expectations for our meal. The staff worked together showing courtesy toward, and concern for, their patrons. The recommended wine went down smoothly and worked well with our dinners.

But now we come to the weak part of our experience--the food. The special soup, tomato and rosemary, was average...nothing to remember or recommend. My Caesar salad was limp; it appeared that it had been sauteed. Escargots rated an "OK". The house salad was "Nothing special."

We had higher hopes for our entrees. The men had pork shank, one of the ladies ordered back ribs, and I had linguini with fresh vegetables. My dinner was tasteless; the veggies were nicely cut, the linguine al dente, but the sauce had no je ne sais quas. The pork shank was huge, and bathed in a rich, brown gravy. Again, a nice presentation but, "Where's the flavor?" Ditto for the back ribs, an ample portion but it needed some kind of a punch. Added to the fact that the dinner did not live up to its billing, was the fact that the entrees were expensive and the entire menu was a la carte.

For what we paid, we should have been raving about the dining experience, rather than deciding that La Cuisine was not worth another visit.

This small, quiet restaurant is excellent! We stopped in for a glass of wine and decided to stay for dinner. The owners are friendly and the service was outstanding. If you are looking for a place of calm, or tired of noisy restaurants, this is the place. You will not be disappointed!

We really enjoyed our dinner at La Cuisine. Everything was fresh and delicious. The prices were little to high for our family, but the atmosphere and fresh food was enjoyed by all of us.Very relaxing, romantic atmosphere. The owners or staff were very nice. The Cappucino Creme Brulee' was to die for.

This is an extraordinary find. We live less than 20 miles from La Cuisine, but tho there are many, many establishments nearer, this is our 1st choice, both for ourselves and for the many Northern friends, relatives and visitors who find their way to our home in FL. It is simply a world class place to dine for French cuisine, and we say this as frequent travelers to France itself.
