“The Best Indian Food in the Area”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

Absolutely amazing food... Very delicious, food served in a timely manner. Was very disappointed with service (None of the servers ever smiled). Part of our food did not get delivered, the water they gave us was not drinkable (dirt in the water :-( ..... ). requested new water, did not get it for 20 mins. Food was really really amazing, if we are in the area will surely go back there. Would have been perfect if it wasn't for POOR Service.

“The best Indian food in Florida (and lots of other places)!!”
Reviewed December 18, 2011

First, check the address – they moved from Oakland Park to Plantation (1711 N. University Drive, in the Holiday Inn). The phone number hasn't changed.

Absolutely the best Indian we've ever had, and that includes Indian restaurants in other cities (San Francisco, Redwood City, Las Vegas, Annapolis, Philadelphia, Bangor, and others I can't remember).

My favorites are the Lamb Korma (tender chunks of lamb in a creamy sauce) for $15.95, and Lamb Sag (tender chunks of lamb in a spinach-based sauce) for $13.95. My wife loves their Dal Makhni (black lentils & kidney beans in cream sauce) for $10.95. The most expensive entrees (Shrimp Curry and Lobster Curry) are $20.95 and Adrak Ke Panje (Ginger lamb chops) for $24.95. Someday I want to try the whole leg of lamb (special advance order for $59.95 – feeds 4-6). The menu is extensive – over 150 items (including 12 beverage choices), plus a separate wine list. Also, if you see something that is made with chicken and doesn't show it's available with lamb (or something else), just ask.

I strongly recommend you let them know how spicy you want your entree. I like mine very very mild, and my wife likes hers very very spicy. They'll fix it however you want it.

Service is friendly and attentive, but expect it to take a good 15-20 minutes for your order – they prepare everything to order. If they're busy (or if they're almost empty) you may have to wait a few minutes for someone to seat you. If you need to get someone's attention, don't be shy . . . they're family-owned and very friendly.

They have a lunch buffet from 11:30 - 3:00 (you can also order off the menu), and they're open for dinner from 5:30 - 10.00. If you show up during other hours, don't expect to get fed . . . you won't even get in.

You can order take-out, and you'll get your order piping hot. They don't take short-cuts, so it's still a good 15-20 minutes from order to ready.

The new location has a much nicer decor, and there is ample parking (a big improvement). After you order, take a minute to look around the restaurant at framed pictures on the wall . . . very Indian. They have ample seating, so reservations are not necessary (but wouldn't hurt if you have 8 or more).

It's a long drive for us, but we always go there for family gettogethers (and sometimes just because we're in the mood).

“Exquisite Indian Cuisine”

This delightful little find sells mouthwatering mutton curry, parathas, saag panneer, tandoori chicken, and Chicken Tikka Masala. In a part of Florida where Indian restaurants are mediocre at best, India House's cusine ranks 10 stars(if that is possible.) The only little qualm is the decor, which consists of plastic maroon mirrors and wooden booth cutouts. I probably could give it a few pointers if I could. However, its service is friendly, attentive, and superb.
