“Great little waterfront”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2014 via mobile

First time visit. I was looking for a place on the water in north palm beach and this one popped up. Great location. We had the Gazpacho with crab meat and it was great. Their dolphin fingers were really good. Other plates that I saw come out looked very good.
That is where the good comes to a halt. I felt that they felt that we should feel privileged to be there. As anyone that has read my previous reviews knows that I'm pretty easy. I was not comfortable here. I had my 87 year old father in law and needed a low table and we had a small dog with us and there were several open and they insisted we sit at a high top.
The server took care of us but it seemed like a chore.
Not sure if I'll return but it has potential... More if management works with the staff on hospitality.

“Second time was much better”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2014

We went to Frigates when it first opened (reviewed previously) and gave it a second chance recently - I'm glad we did! The menu selection has really improved and the service was very good. We just loved the encrusted Grouper sandwich - it was first rate. We got the Lobster Mac'n cheese as an appetizer and it was very good but a bit pricey for the very tiny amount of lobster pieces in it. The wings were very crispy - but unusual in that they came plain with dipping sauce on the side. Good selection of drink specials and beer. On a Sat night in July - we did not wait for a table. We appreciated the valet parking as well. Good experience.

“In North Palm and a great view of the water”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2014

It's hard to find restaurants on the water in this part of the county. You may need to park next door, but it's worth it. The food is good and ambiance even better.

“Clueless”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2014

There was a 45 minute wait at the new Hog Snapper so we ended up 1/4 mile down the road at Frigate's. Big mistake. This is more a bar with a menu then a restaurant, so if you're looking for anything resembling fine (or even average) dinning, continue down the road. Figuring that they would know how to deep fry, we ended up ordering conch fritters (which they simply forgot to bring), a pilsner (surprisingly, they said they didn't have and recommended an ale (not a larger), which we were told the bartender said would be close. In all fairness the beer was a light ale and it was very good. We also ordered a macadamia crusted grouper after first asking if the fish was local and fresh. When they brought over the fish, you could smell it coming. And, unfortunately, not a fresh fish smell. It had an unrecognizable, burnt (it was actually black) bread crumb like coating. Clearly they hadn't changed their cooking oil yet this year. The waitress was simply clueless - she made absolutely no effort at all. When she came to clear and ask if we wanted dessert, our food was basically uneaten. She either didn't notice or seeing completely uneaten was not unusual. The staff seemed equally clueless so we felt it wasn't worth even saying anything. We simply paid and made a note to not return.

Thank you for visiting us, although we are very disappointed to hear that your visit was not to your standards. We pride ourselves on our knowledgable and friendly staff, however we wish you would have raised your concerns about your missing items and entrees that you were not happy with so that a manager could have assisted you and corrected the problem while you there.
We sell over 30-40 of our new grouper macadamia sandwiches a day and there has not been a complaint about taste, it's actually a favorite among diners. We would be happy to assist you further if you would like to give us a call or an email. Thank you.

“Sunday Father's Day Brunch”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2014

We decided to go out for breakfast this morning. Being the closest to the house, we decided to go to Frigates, locally in North Palm Beach, Florida.
We were able to get a seat at the bar immediately. When the bar-person took our order, we were told the endless Mimosa's were $12.00. and the Father's Day brunch was $29.95. The food was very good, a great selection, and very personable employees at each station. But.... after we had the 2nd refill of Mimosa's, the bar-person told us she made a mistake, and the endless Mimosa's were $16,00. After we got home, I looked at the Father's day Brunch and the listed price for the Mimosa's was $12.00, for the Father's Day Brunch. So in all actuality, we were overcharged $8.00 for the Mimosa's. Now, on a special day like Father's day, wouldn't you think they should be having a " SPECIAL" for Father's Day??? I mean a $12.00 mark-up for the Buffet? I they should have lowered the price in honor of Dad's everywhere. When you think about it, when the family goes out for Father's day brunch... who in all actuality pays for the meal..... none other than DAD! Let's give dad's everywhere a break, OK? I will go back and ask for my $8.00 back that we were overcharged! with a print-out of the menu for Father's Day Brunch. Other than that, it is a great place, the decor is absolutely beautiful, the Tongue and Groove ceiling was amazing. Very comfortable seating, inside and out, plenty of room. The Parking on the other hand was a bit difficult, but we seemed to maneuver getting out of the parking spot with minimal trouble.

First, thank you for choosing Frigate's to celebrate Father's Day. We are so sorry to hear that you experienced a problem with the menu pricing. We do offer an expanded menu for such holidays as Father's Day with items such as a full carving station, raw bar, and 2-3 additional entree selections so the pricing does vary from our normal Sunday brunches which do not have those items.
We feel that the pricing is very fair considering other neighboring establishments are charging much more than our $29.95 brunch. However, we never want our customers feeling disappointed and although our staff can make mistakes you were told a price and therefore we would like to honor that.
If you would kindly bring in your receipt and speak with a member of management we will gladly take care of that for you. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your meal and we do hope that you will join us again soon.
Cheers.
