Jensen's in exactly what we wanted. Our wish was a nice place to stay, without paying for extras we just didn't need for 3 nights. That's what we got! We stayed at the PO Box. It is just a large room with an area to sit, a small fridge, microwave, and coffee pot. They offer other accomodations that include full kitchens as well. It is a great little cottage feel, private, quiet and so cozy. And, very clean!!! It is also steps from the water. There are no hotel amenities (soap, shampoo only), but that is not what we wanted. Actually not having to clean everything up and stashing what you don't want stolen, due to no maid service, was a nice change.

Unfortunately, the weather was awful. We were there during what was named "tropical storm Andrea," and did not see one hint of sunshine or one of the beautiful sunsets Captiva is famous for. It was such a bummer. That is a risk in planning a Florida vacation after April. Because of this, we did not see much of the Jensen Family or staff. However, when we did, they were all very pleasant and helpful. There is a large container of water at the stairs of every unit to rinse your feet after the beach. They put beautiful hibiscus flowers in it! What a nice touch. We would definitely return. Very charming place to stay!

We stayed at the Jensen's on the Gulf for 5 days during last april.
Enjoyed it very much, very nice location and lovely people and stunning place.
Owners are very friendly and helpful with a lot of excellent tips on local restaurants or journeys to do.
Although not very cheap, I do recommend this place if you are looking for the best sunset place on Captiva.

We stayed recently for 3 nights in the PO Box. It was the cheapest room (still, it came in at $199 a night), but was spacious. There was a short walk down to the beach and we loved that Jensen's supplied just about everything you'd need for a day on the beach: beach chairs, towels, floats, shell nets, buckets, etc. We also rented a boat at Jensen's marina for the day, and had so much fun catching fish and we even had lunch at Cheeseburger in Paradise on Cabbage Key.

There were only a few, minor issues we had. First, there was no coffee, which we didn't find out until the next morning. We saw the coffee machine and assumed there would be coffee, creamer, sugar packets, but none (however, they do supply dish soap, shampoo, bar soap, and such). But if you are a coffee lover like we are, plan accordingly so you aren't surprised! The other small problem was that we could here almost everything in the adjoining PO Box suite (we woke up every morning to our neighbors very loud snoring!)

All in all, we'd highly recommend staying at Jensen's. They have great staff who were always friendly, and you can't beat the private beach and facilities!

Room Tip: Bring your own coffee!

This is the best place to stay in the area. We stayed at the honeymoon suite and the view was great! We recommend bringing everything you want to ear and drink as there are cute and entertaining restaurants and bars in the area but overpriced food and nothing to rave about. Walk over to the something duck for a beer and some live music.

We love Jensens on the Gulf and have been staying here once a year for 3 years now. Last summer we stayed in the Penthouse and it was the greatest. The view from the top floor out over the gulf was BEAUTIFUL, day or night the view was perfect. The unit inside was lovely and plenty of room for 2 people. They have chairs, umbrellas, floats and more for the beach. It is a 70 yard walk to the water from the room. The Jensen family are the nicest people you would ever meet. We usually rent a boat from their marina across the street each year and enjoy the ride to Cabbage Key for lunch and get to fish and watch the dolphins along the way. Be sure to look for the Manatees around the boats in the marina. I got some great photos of them last time. We love to go to Captiva in the summer when it is a less crowded time of the year. But anytime your on Captiva life is GOOD! Cant wait to go back this summer.

Room Tip: Rent a boat from Jensens Marina while there and enjoy the ride to Cabbage Key.

This is the first time we stayed at Jensen's. We chose the beach side, and stayed in the Penthouse on the recommendation of the owner. The suite was very comfortable -- two large sofas, a chair and ottoman in the living room; a large dining table; a well-equiped kitchen. The porch and view from the third floor was fabulous -- my favorite part. We were very close to the beach, and they provided beach chairs and umbrellas that were easy to carry the 75 yards to the shore. The staff was very friendly, and the little store at the sister facility was so great -- amazing shirts and caps (we couldn't resist and took home several!). It wasn't cheap, but we would stay there again.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the third floor -- the view was excellent. You could watch the big-screen tv and the wav...

Our first time here! We will be back for sure! My husband & I stayed 10 days in the PO Sweet. We couldn't have been happier. Great accommodations & location to beach & Captiva. Enjoyed having our own kitchen for breakfast & lunch. The staff were helpful & friendly. Enjoyed Sunday services at Chapel by the Sea. Everything we did was within walking distance. The beautiful sunsets were just icing on the cake!
