My wife and I were invited by a real charming, young realtor, Robin @ ReMax of the Islands, to join her for supper at the Sunshine Seafood Cafe & Wine Bar, in Captiva. We started with a "jumbo" shrimp appetizer with a light BBQ sauce, which was nicley prepared, and very obviously fres. The entrees were a "special" feature of Cobia filet, accompanied by the house rice pilaf, sauteed fresh green beans with carrot strips, and a very tasty red cabbage side. The fish was superbly grilled by the talented chef and his staff. It was never too dry, or underdone. The cobia was a "first" for me, and I was very much surprised by the delightful taste with a crab topping. The rice is also very tasty. My wife had another "special" of grilled black grouper with a lobster topping. It did not have the sometimes characteristic stronger "fishy" taste we have found with grouper at many other restaurants. Both dishes were fabulous, and worth every penny. "Sunshine" is not a cheap dive, so come prepared to enjoy a top-quality meal, and have some of their Riesling with your fish, and be completely satisfied. Needless to say, the servers, Nick and Robin, were at the top of the chart in their efforts to make their customers enjoy the experience. Ask for Robin or Nick, and this little spot will be on your "must do" list every trip to the Islands. Ask Robin about a great deal on a propety to rent or purchase... She is an insider!
