“Great location”
Reviewed December 26, 2013 via mobile

Right in the beach. Music was good and joe our bartender was a good guy. Food is pricy but not sure you go to a place like this for the food. It's more about the locations and environment.

“Nice Location But Uninspired Service & Mediocre Food”
Reviewed December 26, 2013

The positive is the beachside location. The negatives are the assembly-line style service, the disappointingly limited menu and a very limited beer/wine list (no cocktails available). While it is reputed to have the "freshest fish on the Island," that was not our experience. All in all, a mediocre but very fully-priced dining experience.

“The Mucky Duck is THE place to seek the "Green Flash" on Sanibel/Captiva”
Reviewed December 26, 2013

Up near the end of little Captiva Island is a local spot known as the Mucky Duck. A small bar and restaurant, with indoor and outdoor seating is very informal, with limited liquor drinks, but wine and beer available. The food and drinks are okay, but the real appeal is the location right on the beach looking directly westward into the setting sun. If ever you may see the famous Green Flash, it might well be at the Mucky Duck. Crowds gather each night to witness the elusive phenomenon, and even when none appears, the sunset is met by applause from the assembled. It is a beautiful sight, in a beautiful setting. And the place has its charm, but not for all. Outdoor picnic tables are used mostly by drinkers watching the sunset, then vacated. The restaurant is very informal and pretty basic as well. But the place is worth a visit or two when on the island for the sunset special show.

“Mediocre and poorly prepared food”
Reviewed December 24, 2013 via mobile

This has been one if our favorite restaurants in Captiva but no more. The grilled fish on our salad was undercooked and tasteless. The rolls were too hard to eat. The margaritas were terrible. The oysters were barely edible.

“Great Sunset and good food.”
Reviewed December 22, 2013

We stopped her after a recommendation and were extremely happy to do so. We stopped and sat outside for a few drinks before being let in for dinner service. We saw an incredible sunset and had a great meal. Would come again
