Right on the beach, very convenient, good food with an interesting atmosphere. Bar outside, really a nice place for lunch!

We have been to the Mucky Duck on several occasions and always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Just wish that they would take reservations.

Had lunch for the second time (first time last November) and enjoyed it as much as the first. The location is right on the gulf and the Mucky Duck makes the most of it. Tables outside, and window seats on the inside. Even if they look full, ask for a window seat and you will get one even if they have to bring it to you.
Had the clam chowder and it was thick, rich, and full of flavor and clams. Once again we had the Duck Duck Shrimp Appetizer and really enjoyed it. We both had the Captiva Sandwich and were totally pleased with the preparation. Cold, reasonably priced draft beer and a smiling enjoyable server (Judy) completed the meal.
Can you get better food somewhere else- probably? Can you get better food in such a great relaxed location, at a reasonable price with good service--not too often?

My wife and I went to the Mucky Duck today and thought the food was just average. I had the crab cake sandwich which was meaty, but bland. My wife had the crispy grouper sandwich which appeared to frozen, then deep fried. Not exactly we expected. The clam chowder was good though.

The Mucky Duck Restaurant and Bar is a great place to eat and have drinks leading up to a sunset or even an afternoon lunch outside on the picnic tables. There is usually live music on the weekends and during the busy season of travelers. If you sit outside it is self serve and The Mucky Duck will call your name to pick up your food. Water is also self serve outside along with cleaning off your table during the busy time.

Drinks: Because the Mucky Duck can't seat more than 150 people, the establishment can only serve beer, wine, and vodka-wine for mixers. The vodka-wine is not as strong which can sometimes ruin a drink is the bartender is too giving with the amount of alcohol. The Mucky Duck has all of the classic drinks for tropical locations. Not terribly pricey.

Food: During our stay up the road we visited 3 times during our stay to watch the sunset from The Mucky Duck. We only ate lunch and apps during our visits and would leave to go elsewhere on the island for dinner. Too many mixed dinner reviews to give it a try...
Crunchy Grouper Sandwich was great and coleslaw wasn't bad either. We tried the Maryland-Style Crab Cake Sandwich which was okay. It should be served by itself not on a bun. The Fried Shrimp were good and not too heavy on the breading.

Seating: If you are planning on watching the sunset and would like to enjoy some food outside make sure you arrive to the restaurant at least 1 hour before sunset. You can find the sunset times on The Mucky Duck's website or weather.com for times. They have very limited seating outside so if you are only there for drinks the best view of the sunset is from their adirondack chairs facing the ocean.

Parking: Parking is also very limited right before sunset so your best bet is to get to the restaurant at least 1 hour before sunset to find parking. If the parking lot is full you can park at the Captiva Pizza, Yogurt, and Gift Emporium roughly two blocks east on the main drag. The other parking secret is at American Realty on the north side of the road about a block down from the restaurant, just make sure it is AFTER business hours or on the weekend.
