“Sun, sand, sharks, shells and dolphin!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2013

LOVE Captiva Beach. We love the "flat" ocean which is good for SUP's, floatin, and talking for hours in the water and frisbee tossing. We enjoyed making sand sculptures and shelling, of course.
While we were here we saw dolphins every day and even saw a "young" 5 foot shark glide slowly past us in the shallows. Lots of beautiful birds of all kinds including white ibis, pelican, osprey, etc.
Captiva is a great place for a weeks get a way as the scenery is always changing and though we do get rain almost daily in the summer it is "short lived" intense and makes gorgeous rainbows!

“No parking!!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

On the main beach there's absolutely no parking. At the end of the island the beach parking is minuscule so unless u get there at the crack of dawn, forget it!
There's no beach access anywhere in the island, unless u live in one of the multi million dollar homes n u can just cross the street.
It seems to me, this is captiva's way of keeping everyone away xcept for those who r staying there.
The beach water is better than Fort Myers and the sand is nice, cool n white.

“Immaculate Beach!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

Clean, free beach, what else can I say. Where I live, New Jersey should be ashamed that they charge for beaches when you can access a beach like this at no charge. Not as many shells as I had hoped, but that is only complaint. So beautiful.

“Very Warm Waters”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

We went here twice. Both times the water was very warm, like a bath - which I like. The one night was right after a storm and the air was a little cool, but the water was great. This beach also has a lot of shells. It costs a little to park, and the parking is limited, but we didn't have any trouble later in the day both times.

Great white sandy beach, its a little on the small side but well worth our hour drive there! Kids had a blast!
