“Great for family's”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2013

We have just returned from the Tween waters inn after staying for 4 nights, we had a twin room with a fantastic view of the ocean.
On first arrival we were a little deflated as the resort seemed somewhat dated but after we settled n we really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. The beach access is 100 yards away and the pool area about the same . We ventured out for lunch and dinner a couple of times but the food on site is excellent so really if you want to stay put then do because you won't find it any better on the island..the breakfast buffet was again first rate and is included in the price of the room.
Our kids are grown now so if your looking for a more mature crowd then this isn't it but if you are a family with kids then this is you

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the pool

My boyfriend surprised me with a trip where we stayed At tween water inn. The staff was really nice and friendly. The bar tenders at the pool bar were the best. The rooms were clean and nice. The view from our room of the gulf was soo pretty. I will stay here again.

Tween Waters is way, way out on the island chain, which meant there are not a whole lot of options around it. The internet was really hit-and-miss, as was the cell service. The front desk said repeatedly they would have a maintenance man reset the modem, but there was no improvement. The room was nothing remarkable, but reasonably clean. The staff tried really hard, but seemed poorly trained. We left early. Would I ever book a room there again. Not on a bet.

Frabjous 1,

Thank you for staying with us and sharing your review. We do apologize for the interruption in your internet service. We were experience equipment difficulties with our wireless infrastructure during the week of June 10th 2013 which most likely affected you service. The issues have been resolved and this morning I was able to connect with my portable device all around property. Thank you pointing out the efforts of our staff. Many of our employees have been with us for more than 20 years and their efforts are often complimented in reviews on Trip Advisor. We are sorry if our location and our resort did not meet your vacation needs. Guests come to Captiva Island because of is beautiful remote location that makes you feels like you have travel much farther than the 15 miles from the Sanibel Island Causeway Bridge. Thank you again for staying with us and we hope that your travel plans will bring you back to the beautiful Islands of Sanibel and Captiva.

Kind Regards

My husband and I stayed here for our 5 year anniversary and it didn't disappoint! Beautiful view of the beach, nice clean rooms, wonderful restaurant, great bar atmosphere in the other lounge. Great food in both restaurants. We did a spa day because it was raining one full day and it was great as well! The only complaint I have is that we heard from several people about the coupon book on the last night we were there, by then it was too late to use some of the coupons for the resort.

My wife and I stayed at Tween Waters in early June. We made our decision to stay at TW based on tripadvisor reviews and the constant replies from Tween Waters management on this forum. I called TW prior to making reservations based on tripadvisor comments and was told that the room we were considering had been remodeled recently.

Fast forward to our arrival. Front desk staff were friendly and efficient during check in, providing information and support to complete forms and provide information about local attractions.

We were given the key to a disappointing room that had a dank smell, rusty metal fixtures on the sliding door, abused walls and mouldings, and a grimy carpet. After a negotiation with the front desk, we upgraded to a room that offered a larger, lighter area that had been recently remodeled. This was not a good introduction to the resort based on promises made about room remodeling made during my prior call to TW.

Restaurant, pool, and gift shop employees were very friendly and accommodating. The informal restaurant was fun, and we enjoyed the "Nascrab" crab races very much. There is a very appealing pool, a beautiful beach, and a fairly complete gym with aerobic machines and cybex equipment.

I was very disappointed in the condition of the resort, it had the look of a forgotten, shabby, beach house that had been discovered, hurriedly painted, and opened for the season. Rotting unpainted wood, flooded parking lots, and missing masonry sections were evident everywhere we looked.

We'll look at other facilities next time we travel to Captiva.

Room Tip: Ask specific questions about the room and building you intend to reserve. When was each feature of...

We've stayed at Tween waters twice now and we're going for a third time next year... the first year we had a suite, this year we had a quiet Bayfront room, overlooking a dock and Buck Key, so we got marvelous sunrises and no hot afternoon sun. For unforgettable sunsets, we just ankled over the street to Captiva's stunning beach. The breakfast buffet is excellent, though now you must order hot breakfasts separately. We miss the old Canoe and Kayak dock restaurant, but in February they were instituting a version in the Old Captiva House that promised to be just as good, if not as picturesque. I do hope, however, they bring back the C&K shrimp salad...

There are a lot of families and party groups, but our small group of two never felt ignored. The service everywhere was welcoming discreet, excellent -- our hostess, Joy, was recognizing and remembering us by our second day at breakfast.

The Inn is sited right in the middle of the long, skinny island, so we could walk north or south to the ends-- the major shelling areas-- in an hour or so. I also found lovely shells at a low tide my first morning right outside the Inn. Andy Ross Lane, Captiva's "downtown," is a 10-15 minute walk by beach or paved road.

Check out the manatee habitat--there's a sign--next to the mangroves south of the main boat dock...there's usually a manatee group hovering somewhere near.

The rooms are clean, remarkably so, considering all the sand we track in, and the amenities excellent. Last year our suite was roomy, but it was right by the ice machine, so we woke up with fishermen loading up their buckets at 5 AM...be warned. This year's space was wonderfully serene, though I still got up early to watch the sunrise.

The spa, the food, the shopping, the ambiance and plantings, kayaking, bicycling, and other resort amenities are good. The pool can get a little crowded with families on a summer day, and the pool bar can be somewhat noisy but not overwhelming.

And, if you do have a question, comment, or complaint, the general manager iusuaklly attends weekly festivities around the pool.

Room Tip: Gulf rooms, with their spectacular sunset views, are in demand, but Bayside rooms are cooler and qui...
