What a fabulous spring break spot! We had three gorgeous days on the beach. The beach is private and uncrowded. We rented a cabana each day - $15 - very reasonable.

The service is fabulous! The guy with the cabanas was continually checking the beach. The girl at the coffee bar was very friendly and helpful. The servers at the poolside restaurant were very busy so that some appeared a bit rude. Not sure if they were understaffed or just rude.

Our room had two queen beds and was very clean. The only issues are the lack of plugs and light. During the day there is plenty of light from the sliding glass door. Not so much at night. :) The only available plugs are in the bathroom. It is difficult to recharge multiple electronic devices with only two plugs!

We loved our stay and hope to come back this summer!

Room Tip: The pet friendly rooms have all tile which is nice with all that sand.

Dear jpro122,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at what you called our “fabulous resort”. The Tween’s Beans coffee shop where you pick up and exchange our luxury towels or enjoy a quick caffeinated pick me up, featuring illy Italian gourmet coffee, is a very new feature on our property. It developed from us listening to the desires of our customers and I am glad to say it has been embraced with rave reviews. I am glad that you found Tasha to be friendly and helpful. I will be sure to share your kind words with her as well as our beach attendants. As for your room, I appreciate your comments about the lack of light and electrical outlets. This is something that we have been recently made aware of and we are in the process of working on a solution. I am sure we will have the problem resolved by your return this summer. Thank you for bring this to our attention. Thank you again for sharing your experience and we look forward to your return.

We took the whole family to tween waters inn for spring break, what a wonderful time we had. We had a three bedroom suite which was roomy and made us feel at home.

The staff was always courteous and helpful. Not only to me and my wife, but to our children. They had a great time collecting shells on the beach, swimming with the manatees in the bay and hanging out at the pool. There were other kids there for them to hang out with.

The rooms were clean updated. Housekeeping did a great job. The free breakfast was simple but fresh. On the morning I took my son fishing, they let us in before they opened to get stuff to go.

Great job tween waters, you've given my family a wonderful memory of a family vacation.

We booked this trip at the last minute, and the room we got was the only one left for our desired time frame. We had a studio room in the building facing the water. It was clearly recently refurbished, and done fairly well with the small amount of room they had to work with. There are some odd things (the vanity is so tall that I could not bend over to wash my face or rinse my teeth without standing on tiptoe and REALLY stretching) and the a/c unit was really a swamp cooler, I think, and VERY LOUD.Hard to even hear the TV over it. It never really got what you could call cool in the room, but the ceiling fan helped. We are from a cold winter climate, and it's hard for us to be comfortable when it's hot at night.
The unit was very clean and well maintained, with the exception of the lock on the patio door not working. The beach is across a fairly busy road, but it's pretty nice. Captiva is famous for shelling, which means the sand is kind of coarse and you definitely need sandals for walking the beach if your feet aren't kind of tough. They do have cabanas ($15.00/day) and chairs with umbrellas ($20.00/day) for rent. One thing I didn't like was they gave us a coupon for $5.00 off cabana rental, and we thought it was silly that it didn't apply to the beach chairs as well. We did rent beach chairs every day, but that one little annoyance stuck with us. The thing that made this property good is the service. Every person, from the lady at reception, to the housekeeping staff, to the restaurants (we ate at all three) to the attendant at the beach, was just wonderful. The single exception (and I don't think this person is an employee of the resort) was the guy who announced the crab race on a day we were there. He was very rude to us when we attempted to buy something from him for our grandson (after having sold the exact item to someone right before us, he told us he 'didn't have enough' and was pretty ornery about it) We ate several times at the Crow's Nest, liked it every time, and the food served by the pool was really great, as was the continental breakfast. We would definitely come back here., and thought it was a pretty good value for the location.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the water. the sunsets are spectacular.

Dear Cyndees,
We are glad to hear your surprise was pleasant as they can sometimes be quite the opposite. Thankfully for us we don’t experience “the opposite” very often :). You will be glad to know that we are in the process of replacing all of our older style “ptac” AC units with new split units that are much more efficient and quite. The units are here on property but unfortunately we have only installed about half. We hope to have them all finished by the warmer summer months. Thank you for your comment about the $5.00 cabana coupon. Based on your comments we will continue to discuss and monitor the situation. We try to balance offering enough seaside chairs and umbrellas with a tranquil serene beach environment. The cabanas, which are set further from the gulf, are not as popular as the seaside chairs so the $5.00 coupon offers our guests a little more encouragement to try them. Finally, we appreciate your comments about our staff. This past year we developed a new mission statement: to deliver a warm, friendly, and memorable island resort experience that provides a value to all our guests resulting in a desire to return. We have challenged each of our employees to embrace our mission statement in the performance of their daily activities and to their credit they have surpassed our expectations. I will be sure to share your kind words with them and we look forward to your return.

What a treat for a getaway with 4 girlfriends. We stayed in cottage 109 and could not have been more delighted. It is darling with 3 beds in 2 bedrooms and a pull out sofa and 2 bathrooms. We loved the screened in front porch with 4 comfortable chairs to sit and sip cocktails. The beach is just a 2 minute walk and is private and wonderful-- no crowds. It was also great to have a large pool (no issue getting a chair) as the last day was super windy and cooler so the beach was not an option. The pool has a bar and casual grill with great food. The continental breakfast which is included in the price is perfect. If you don't want to leave the property there are several options for food or just a 3 minute down the road is the lane with the Captiva restaurants.

Can't wait to book a girlfriend getaway there again.

Samson00,
So glad to hear that you and your 4 girlfriends enjoyed your “getaway treat” with us. Cottage 109, one of our historical cottages, is a special place for a larger group with 2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and screened porch with a nice sunset view. Our bell service works very hard setting up our private beach and restricting parking and access to our beach by non hotel guests. Even this time of year, when most beaches are very crowed, ours thankfully remains remarkable quiet, peaceful, and serene. I am sure you will be happy to know that we have just replaced all our pool furniture and implemented a luxury towel program which helps ensure there are plenty of comfortable chairs for all our guests to relax in. Thank you for sharing your experience with others. We look forward to your next “getaway treat” with us.

I was looking for an affordable place to stay on Sanibel and ended up finding Tween Waters Inn on Captiva. The reviews seemed fairly good and I liked the idea of being able to have a westerly view of the water and sunsets. The cottages were full so I opted for a one bedroom suite, which meant there was a small kitchen.
It was clean and had plenty of room for two people. It was nice to have a screened lanai with two chairs and a small table.
The grounds are charming and the service superb. It is a casual resort, but has everything that is important including an amazing restaurant. I didn't realize that the chef for the restaurant, the Old Captiva House, is well known and his food amazing! Every meal was superb including the complimentary continental breakfast or an item from the menu at a discounted rate.
The only negative, if you can call it that, are the AC units which are of course loud, but at least there is AC!

Room Tip: If you want a sunset view choose one of the buildings or cottages that face west. Even though they...

Forget Sanibel condos and South Sea Resort - Tween Waters Inn combines retro South Florida charm with modern style and comfort. From suites to cottages, the sunny accommodations have a warm, Tommy Bahama feel and great views. Choose the beautiful pool and jacuzzi (with the Oasis Pool Bar) or the exquisite private beach (with cabana rentals), but always make a point to catch the classic sunsets. They throw in free breakfast, and the staff throughout is warm and courteous. With fine dining at Old Captiva House, light fare at the Crow's Nest, Marina services, boat and kayak rentals and a newly renovated day spa, you'll scarcely need to leave, and surely not want to check out. And did we mention pet friendly? They're not just pet tolerant; just ask our cat, Jasper, whose flown in from NJ over a dozen times. He loves the cottages and their screened in porches. TWI makes for a tropical getaway without a passport.

I came here expecting a decent enough facility, maybe a little on the shabby side. I'm delighted to have been proved very wrong. True, the buildings are on the older side; rooms are a tad small but they've been updated nicely.

Most important, the food, facilities, and services were outstanding. We arrived late and hungry. My grumpy husband wasn't very nice to the hostess in the restaurant (Old Captiva House) but she was unfazed and polite and got us a table with only a 15 min wait, despite no reservation. The food was excellent and fairly priced.

Even the poolside bar food was great! The waitresses were overstretched, but they still did a good job and, most amazingly, stayed cheerful. The pool is great, and the beach is beyond fabulous. We watched manatees and other wildlife from our balcony. Awesome!

On our last day we were able to extend our checkout time, a great help. EVERYONE here was friendly and helpful. Thank you, Tween Waters. I can't wait to return.
