“Great rooms and great water views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

Their property is over 30 acres and very well maintained, we had a bay front room that was nicely furnished and had all the amenities we needed. They had over 8 pools on the property, the main one was too packed too enjoy. We also rented a golf cart to navigate the property (recommended) We also rented a pontoon boat with friends and went to Cabbage Key and North Captiva Island for a day of shelling. Would definitely return.

Room Tip: Ask for room 5126, nice tropical furnishing, very updated

My son have been here several times since he was in college and he always recommend me this place. We went 12 family member for Labor Day. I got the one bedroom villa and my son the three bedroom villa, both with a sofabed in the living and at the South Beach. Perfect. We were at the beach by 10:30, they will provide with chairs, towels and umbrellas. The sand is white, the water clear, clean and warm. People very nice, there were almost families. We went twice to the restaurant. The first day and the last day, and they were good, price a litlle expensive in the Harbourside at the marina. The rest of the meal we did it in the big apt. And at the beach. There is barbecue grill, which we use once. I will definitively come back.

Room Tip: We stood at South Beach Villas, they are in front of the sea. First floor doesn't see the sea, s...

We are admittedly picky about where we stay on vacation. After considering different Caribbean and Mexican resorts, we settled on South Seas mostly due to the positive reviews on Tripadvisor. We couldn't have been more pleased and South Seas fulfilled our hopes for a relaxing family beach vacation.
We stayed in a two bedroom beach villa. We were upgraded to a two bedroom unit for free! The resort itself is beautiful and huge. The villa overlooked the gulf. We were in a first floor unit. I probably would request a higher unit next time as I expect that you would be able to see more of the water over the foliage. The unit itself was clean and updated. The kitchen was equipped with all necessary items (dishes, pots, utensils, etc.). I would have brought some more items from home if I knew how expensive everything is on the island (salt, sugar, snacks, etc.). Definitely stop at the Publix BEFORE the Sanibel bridge. There are no big markets on Captiva and everything is super expensive.
The main pool area has two waterslides and 2 large pools which overlook the bay. There is an outside bar at the pool and attendant service for drinks and food which we found to be good.
There is a Starbucks onsite. Every morning we walked the beach to get morning coffee at Starbucks.
There are many activities to keep everyone busy. We rented waverunners, bikes and chartered a 4 hour excursion where we saw dolphins jumping beside our boat, caught fish as soon as we put the rods in the water and were taken to a deserted island for shelling (we found amazing conch shells and even sand dollars!). Definitely bike the island to collect the colored rubber bands. It was an educational adventure that we all enjoyed. The wildlife is also amazing. Pelicans, osprey, sea turtles, manatee and more.
The restaurants at the resort were good. Definitely visit Doc Ford's Rum Bar. They have a gluten free menu too.
I can't think of any negatives to staying at South Seas. We couldn't have been happier with our decision to spend our vacation at this resort!

Thank you for staying at South Seas. I highly recommend all guests do some sort of activity on the water - whether it's through Captiva Cruises, Best Boats, or Sunny Island Watersports. Thanks for sharing all your experiences and we hope you will return.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom Beach Villa and had a wonderful time. The beach is in walking distance every morning they put out chairs and umbrellas. A pool is also available beach side or a short trolley ride and your are at the main resort area with 3 pools and 2 slides. My 5 yr old son has a great time here using the kids club, scoops for an ice cream, or an adult beverage poolside. We brought our own food and drinks BBQ areas are available. The resort has plenty of amenities and you can easily spend the entire day right on the property. This was our second time at the resort and plan to be back again. The condo unit had upgrades and was perfect for the 3 of us my son slept on the fold out couch and the room was attended to daily.

Room Tip: Ask to be in an updated unit when making your reservation. Keep checking rates our price went down d...

I have been going to South Seas since the mid 80's. I have stayed in most areas of the resort. Although a lot has changed over the years, it is still one of my favorite places for vacation. The beaches cannot be beat. There are different types of lodging to suit just about any need. Lands End offers both the best views, as well as convenience to golf and the harbor. Dolphin, many species of fish, and manatees all call this home.

Room Tip: Stay at Lands End or in the beach cottages for the best views. Two restaurants are convenient from t...

We had a wonderful time at this resort, including watching yachts come and go from our harbor view balcony. Even had a lightning show one evening - wow. Beaches & grounds were clean and fine service with umbrella, chaises and towels there. Think assigning one of the pools as "adult only" would be a no-brainer, but no, perhaps they do during other seasons? Trolley ride was fun, not only for transport, but to tour without moving the car, which we didn't do the 5 days we were there. Doc Ford's is a neat restaurant in the southern area, with friendly waitstaff and posters of the book covers of our Floridian author Randy Wayne White adorn the walls (he is a partner in this and two other eateries in Sanibel & Ft Myers Beach). The beaches were our major draw - we were delighted.

What a great place to lose yourself!! The staff was exceptional as were the accomidations. The views from this area are very relaxing and soothing to anyone wanting to get away from it all!! There are also things to do in the surrounding areas such as swimming, sunning, fishing and beach combing just to name a few. South Florida is growing, but places like this are remote and have to be reached by boat.
