This is the second time we have visited this restaurant. This review will be divided into 3 categories: General overview, service, and food quality. My husband kept bugging me to go back because he thought his pizza was great the first time we visited. They use a brick oven located in the center of the restaurant. Tuesdays is the Pizza Buffet if you are a pizza aficionado. PJ's Sea Shack gives one an impression of a more fun beach establishment with a faux Peter Max atmosphere. The colors are bold and eclectic Above the perimeter of the interior of this restaurant is a chain-lighted tube with goldfish swimming about. Yupp, you read that correctly. Nevertheless it is quite entertaining for children of all ages. The bar is secluded around the back of the kitchen. In the back, one can sit overlooking the Indian River Lagoon mangroves, or enjoy playing singular ring-toss. The patio's alfresco decor is limited to picnic benches.
Upon entering, you can always see the young waitresses gathering around the reception desk and ignoring you. You would think they were doing you a favor by acknowledging your presence. This is one thing that seems to be consistent here: the help is not polished, nor experienced with people skills. The owner should do something about this because this place has good potential, just that the service is rude and inexperienced. It shows.
The food needs a little more pizazzz since I know that it is owned by the same as "The Garlic" across the street. The Garlic is one of our family favorites; not only in decor,, but for food. PJ's Sea Shack''s food seems to fit somewhere between fast food and bar food. I felt that most of the food comes in frozen and it is just fried. Speaking of which, the french fries are excellent though. I would go just for the fries and a beer. The prices are not cheap. Also, this place could be a little cleaner. The kids who run this place could care less about the cleanliness. I guess their attitude is "It's not my job", or they are just waiting for their mommy to come and clean.
I say skip this place because there are so many other restaurants in NSB that are really good. Hey, my money is just as green any place else.
