This long established restaurant has been in New Smyrna Beach for over 42 years. It caters to a large cross section of demographics from the working man breakfast to burgers to senior citizens and beyond. They even have curb service.
We have been going to this "joint" for breakfast for over 25 years and never have been disappointed. My favorite is the Greek Omelet ($5.99) served with hash browns and toast. Other sides are available. The dish is a combination of three fresh eggs, chopped tomatoes and feta cheese. I order the dish "heavy on tomatoes and light on cheese" as I feel the feta can overpower the delicate eggs if not used conservatively. The wife goes for a standard 2 egg dish ($4.99) with her favorite side being the biscuit and sausage gravy. A breakfast meat is also included along with potatoes or grits.
Service is quick and efficient. Today Donna handled the front of the house for the 6AM shift by herself. Regular customers don't have to order from the menu. She sees you coming in the door. Greets you with "having the regular?", brings your coffee and has the meal out within seven minutes.
First timers are also allowed to dine, but it might take 9 minutes to get your meal out.
Make sure you give Pappas a try when you are in our beach town. It is located on US Hwy 1 and is easy to find. Lots of parking is available and you can stay in your car for lunch or dinner, but you might miss the fun.
