My son and I are just back from a 6 hour fishing trip with Captain Brad in the backwater of the Inland Waterway at New Smyrna Beach and Edgewater. Our primary objective was Redfish, a great sport fish and equally great tasting fish -- one of which we kept and brought to the dockside restaurant at JB's Fish Camp and had cooked to order (blackened) as soon as we docked and filleted our catch.
Capt. Brad has our highest accolades. Regardless of conditions -- and today they were not ideal with a cool front coming through and a persistent north wind -- Brad works hard to put us on the fish. He's a very experienced guide and a great guy to share a day on the boat with, whether his customers are skilled fishermen or a family with small children looking for a day of fun and excitement.
Backwater fishing is great fun. The water is shallow, travel time is minimal and stalking the fish is very important to success. It is also real fishing: you have to find the fish, position the boat carefully and make the right casts and presentation. Much of Brad's work is using a pole to position the boat properly and that is not easy to do, especially in the wind. But he is more than up to the task.
This is our second trip with Brad. We will fish with him again for sure. Thanks for a great day, Brad.
