We go here all the time to walk the boardwalk and count the turtles. Yesterday was only two, nut one day we saw 24! It's a beautiful, peaceful place. Nice for the whole family. the restrooms are always clean.

Fairly protected area to observe. Boardwalk goes the whole perimeter plus many side excursions to the beaches of the park at the end of the peninsula. Was surprised to see the many Gopher Turtles and their homes among the dunes. My 18 year old wasn't especially thrilled, but it wasn't the worst experience either.

This beach is set on an inlet, opposite the ocean side of a peninsula, so the water is fairly flat. The view is gorgeous, with beach dunes and a lighthouse in the distance. There are sandy walking trails and a wooden boardwalk. The park does not want dogs on the boardwalk after 10 AM, but many people walked there anyway. There are stations with poop bags and benches along the paths. After you enter for $5 cash, you park near bathrooms, soda machine, and covered picnic area. We arrived about noon. You walk in and find a fork in the path. If you go left, you have a short walk to the waterfront. If you go right, you have a longer walk to a longer beach. We went left and found people spaced out along a narrow beach fronting gorgeous cool water. We brought chairs and water, some snacks, towels, and extra leashes. Dogs were everywhere. Some were on the leash, some had a short leash attached but were loose. All the loose dogs were mellow. People swam with the dogs and threw balls and sticks in the water to the dogs. Some people came by boat and beached the boat to run around with their dogs. There were jet skiers, etc., out in the bay, but we did not hear much noise. There was no dog poop or litter to speak of, and there are trash containers near the beach. I thought it was wonderful. We washed our dogs at the washing station near the bathroom area. There are other long boardwalk trails, and dogs are permitted on them before 10 AM and an hour before dusk. Later, we ate on the patio at Norwood's Restaurant with our dogs, and this made a great day for us. We will return soon!

This is a beautiful mile and a half boardwalk and dog park. You can stay on the boardwalk to view the gopher tortoises, cacti, and dunes or you can take a side spur and walk along the riverfront or beach. The views of the jetty and lighthouse are beautiful. In the summer, it's hot, hot, hot--BRING WATER!
