“Absultely Terrific”
Reviewed April 19, 2007

Yes it can be quirky, Yes it can be a bit dated in parts, Yes its the best stay you will have in that part of Florida. Location is perfect, service is excellent. Use the concierge service its superb. Get a package deal as breakfast is expensive and so is the chair rental on the beach....HB' s is expensive by local standards, where everything is so cheap, but inexpensive by UK standards and what a location... especially if you watch the sun go down on the beach.

The beauty of this place is that it works on an adult level, a teenager level, child level, romantic break, family break...everyone infact.

Dont expect the locals to have any idea of what youare talking about if you are not American nor do they have a clue about the world outside the US....also, the language is fundamentally English, but not as we know it !

Be careful if you eat at Campenellos..it was the best restauarant in town...but the service there is appalling and arrogant....which is in direct contrast to everywhere else in Naples.

Its a fantastic place to stay and Naples is a treat....a world away from the beer and football obsessed, violent, filthy third world country that England has become.

the naples golf resort ist a splendid location on a beautiful beach. a spend two nights there. the staff was very, very unfriendly. there are important gap's between the different rooms witch are distributed over the hugh resort area. so the rooms have very different sea-views. tha restaurant is ok. for having a few beach days with one or two rounds of golf this hotel is not a bad choice. but i'd likes to be more than it really is. greeting herman

We are planning a October 2007 Wedding and flew to Florida from Illinois to check out some possible locations. My fiance was really excited about seeing Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club after seeing it only and having our wedding planner also recommend it.

We visited other locations on our 3 day planning trip and actually arrived in Naples early and decided to spend the night at Naples Beach Resort before our tour the next morning.

Needless to say that the resort was a total disappointment. There were stains on the sheets, the water came out rusty in the shower and the sink. The faucet was broken and you had to push on it and wiggle it to turn the water off. So that didnt help this dated Florida hotel at all.

I spoke to the Manager about the situation and he said they could have fixed the problem had we let them know earlier. I let them know as soon as I was alerted to the situation when I went to shower in the morning. He also said that they cant fix something if guests dont tell them about the problem. The picture I provided proves I wasnt the first person to mess with the sink. He made me feel like it was my problem that the room was in the condition it was and he wasnt worried because "You are only staying here one night". He gave me a $50 discount on a $300 room and said "that should be good enough because I was already getting the room at a good deal because they normally go for $400 a night".

What a joke, anyone willing to pay $400 a night for that crap should go to the doctor to check their sanity. The management is so short sighted that he didnt seem to care that I was also planning a wedding and would have 75 guests with me in seven months.

Needless to say I canceled out meeting with the wedding planner. Oh and on top of their $400 a night room they want to charge you $10 a day for wireless internet and $4 for 15 minutes in their lobby.

The rest of Naples was nice, 5th street is the place to visit.

For weddings I highly recommend Longboat Key Club just outside Sarasota on Longboat Key. More resort for less money. Thats where we decided to get married.

This stay is our 4th at Naples Beach Hotel and like before we have nothing but good to say about the hotel, its staff and the location. Ok the hotel is old but the recent up-grades to the lobby are great improvements. The main thing is that we get on relly well with the staff, cleaners and bar manager. All were very helpful and friendly. HBs is expensive but good and right on the beach if you like to have your dinner whilst watching the sunset. The golf shop is excellent (except for clubs where the manager recommended going to the Golf Guys on I41 about 5 mins by car)
We had breakfast every day in the Everglades Restaurant and if you like a full size English you can help yourself to as much as you can eat for $15. Staff excellent, once again and Basil and Alice recognised us from previous visits and were very warm and friendly.
If you want a hotel that is on the beach, is friendly and has a real owner present feel about it then go to Naples Beach Hotel. Go over to the golf club on the other side of the road and have some lessons to improve your game at a superb golf course. Walk along Gulf Shore Boulevard and see some multimillion dollar homes right next to the hotel. And Naples Beach Hotel is located on its own not one of fifty along the beach so overcrowded beaches are not what you'll find.
Finally our room was upgraded without us asking and was clean, not at all worn out and our cleaners were excellent.
We'll be back again in December 2007.

With a location like this it seems hard to miss but they did!!

We found staff to be so undertrained that it was miserable. Received turndown for 2 nights than was told we did not get it EVER even after I explained we had had it for the previous 2 nights. Was basically called a liar! Room hit 62 degrees one night and when heat would not work, called front desk and was told no heat until it reached 56 degrees!! I don't even think that is legal!! Space heater was brought in and promptly blew a fuse which caused even more problems. Found that lock to sliding glass doors was broken (I was at ground level by myself for 2 nights). Staff indicated that it was my fault that I did not find it sooner!! Concierge left in the afternoon so you had better think about dinner questions before 3:00.

Complaints to the Manager brought a bottle of wine which was a nice gesture but a little to late. At nearly $400 per night you just expect more.

Things you should know about the hotel:

The good - great location! Close to old town, great restaurants, the pier, etc. Good beach - hard to come by in Naples. Pool bartender makes good drinks. Small refrigerator, sink and coffee maker in the room was very convenient!

The bad - It's old -- modest furniture in the room. Bed was pretty hard. Elevator to the beach didn't work first day and the elevators are slow in general.

The ugly - You have to pay $6 to rent a beach chair otherwise you sit on the sand. I couldn't believe that we paid $400 a night for a room and they wanted more for a beach chair. Unbelievable!! You will be tempted to eat dinner at HB's for the sunset view. . . don't. They were out of my brand of vodka and the food was medicore.

My overall thoughts - I would stay there again if I really wanted beach and close to Naples - for that, you can't beat it. I wouldn't eat there and I would probably spend more time at the pool.

It's as if you've arrived at your rich uncle's beachfront estate when you see the beautiful, expansive grounds. Or, it's like you've discovered a place no one else knows about and you're thinking of keeping it that way! Not a chain resort and with only 318 rooms on 125 acres, the owners still maintain that standard of spaciousness that is unheard of these days. Other resorts would be tempted to build more rooms or to cater to conventioneers...not here! And speaking of the rich uncle estate, the staff members are very astute and seem to treat you as if you are the favorite of that rich uncle! That personal touch sets them apart and above even the ritzy, large chain resorts and reflects their slogan "where hospitality is a family tradtion". Dining alfresco, at water's edge on Christmas night, was a highlight of our visit. Golfers need only walk across the driveway to the resort's 18-hole golf course, which stretches from beachside, all the way to US Hwy 41. And, of course, the beach is beautiful. You just feel like you've found old Florida, refreshing and genteel.
