At first glance, you'll pull up upon a old 70's style hotel you would expect to see on Pompano Beach on the east coast. I was worried. However the place is great. The rooms are all remodeled, with nice showers and flat screen tv's. But most importantly on a older property is that the place is spotless. They do a superb job keeping the place clean. Now why do you pay $500 per night for this place? Location. It's right on the beach in Naples nestled between beachfront mansions. The view at sunset is the draw. And a great bar right at the edge of the beach which overlooks the sunset is breathtaking. I thought the staff was super friendly. I would say my biggest criticism is that they charge for chase lounges on the beach. Otherwise the place is a no brainer, especially since the Ritz is double the price!

This was my first stay at the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club. Yes, the resort is old but we found our room spacious and nicely updated. Our first evening there was a Sunday and the Gulf view bar was packed with locals, enjoying the live music and sunset. It was hard to get a seat and get the attention of any of the bartenders. I tried on several occasions during the week making conversation with the bar and grill staff but not one would engage with talk or a smile. This REALLY annoyed us. Parking is free but limited after the dinner hour so on one occasion we had to valet park our car, no charge. We ate at their restaurant on our first night, HB's and it was very good but again the staff at the check-in desk, not very friendly. We enjoyed our room location as it was very close to the pool and beach. Our room was cleaned each day in a timely manner and our beds, which were very comfortable were turned down at night which was nice. We did not spend our days on the beach due to the additional high costs of umbrellas & chairs but the beach is very nice. The family pool got too noisy for us so we moved to the adult pool & hot tub area which was nice and close to the grill for drinks and food. We did spend each night watching the sunset at the gulf side bar which was nice. We liked the food at both the bar & the grill and got coffees and morning bagels at their local misc. store Seminoles. We were visiting friends in North Naples and Marco Island so the location of this hotel was perfect. It is a prime location due to being on the beach but I agree with others the buildings need some outdoor updating. Overall the staff could be friendlier but all things considered, I would probably return.

Room Tip: Someone told us to ask for a room in Watkins or Penthouse building, however, we were in the Florida...

My wife and stayed here for 3 nights leaving today. On arrival at the hotel at 14:00 hours we were advised that check-in was 16:00 hours and our room was not ready but it would be expedited. We returned about 15:15 hours to be advised that "expedited" meant we had been "pre-registered" and our room would be ready at 16:00 hours in accordance with the hotel's policy. The room was eventually ready at 16:00 hours.

Of the six hotels used during this vacation this was the only one where we encountered-such a belligerent intransigent attitude. On checking out today the usual account had been posted under the door and despite accommodation having been pre-paid we had been charged the full amount and also for services we had not used. The account was eventually sorted but no apology was offered,

My advice is not not try to check in prior to 16:00 hours and carefully check your bill.

Other than the front desk "mafia" the staff were friendly and the room was quiet, comfortable and clean.p

This is a strange hotel. Basically it is old and is showing the signs of being old. The main building is sort of art deco but really a concrete monstrosity. There are 7 buildings in total with two of them looking a bit like a cheap motel rather than a $500 per night hotel. The rooms are OK, clean and reasonably decorated but I guess you could get allocated a room anywhere with a very poor outlook. We specified a room in The Watkins Building on a high floor and had good views up the beach. There is only one bar and this is on the beach and is used by locals as well as guests especially on Sunday nights when there is live music. You cannot get served which is poor for guests that have paid $500 per night. Food in the bar was very average. I guess the hotel can get away with the poor standard because it is only one of two hotels in Naples that are directly on the beach. The Edgewater is on the beach but again is an Art Deco tired hotel. The Waldorf Astoria is not directly on the beach but is behind a mangrove swamp so it is very near. Although it is a couple of miles north of downtown Old Naples is the only decent hotel near the beach. Naples is a superb town and well worth visiting to see how the other half live but don't expect a good hotel on the beach. It is very annoying these days to be charged for internet access and extremely annoying to be charged $47 per day for two sun beds and an umbrellas to sit on the beach. There are not enough beds around the pools so unless you get up early and reserve beds then you more or less have to pay to sit on the beach. I certainly would not stop again as there are too many things to annoy. If it was $200 per night then maybe but not at $500.

Room Tip: Difficult to specify a good room as you could end up with a completely rubbish view. The Watkins Bui...

I have visited this hotel several times, never spending the night. The best time is on
Sunday nightes with the live music at the pool and then going to watch the sunset.
Grounds and view is just fantastic.
I suggest to get there early, because parking is a problem. You can usually find a spot maybe
a block or two away.
This is a hot spot of Naples anytime of the year.

We were very disappointed to visit this property and find that it needs so much work. Due to it's history and Miami style architecture, it could be amazing. The location is nice and the view is wonderful, but there are much nicer properties in the area. I was also surprised at how inattentive the staff is toward the guests. The majority of them did not make eye contact or say hello. The experience was far different from what we have seen at many hotels today where the staff is outgoing with the "It's My Pleasure" attitude. Lastly, the outdoor bar should be evaluated. Wine bottles are stashed in the same ice used for drinks, leftover drink mix is left in the blender, the metal trays are rusting and there is an odor.

Looking to escape the long NY winter, my husband and I booked a last minute visit to Naples. The Naples Beach Hotel met my checklist....sun, sand, spa and tennis all in one place!

Areas for improvement: Agree with other reviewers that the hotel's decor looks a little tired, but I felt the hotel was very clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We ate at the on site restaurant and found the service to be extremely poor. We sat for 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged us (finally waving down the manager). Poolside lunch was very good, but very expensive (approx $50 for 2 burgers and a drink).

Things that I liked: Sunday night they had a band with a great crowd...fun energy, dancing outside. Yoga on the beach. Beautiful location for sunset views!

I would recommend a rental car. We did not rent one, but wish we did!

Overall, a great vacation...very happy with this hotel.

Room Tip: Worth the $50 upgrade per night for an ocean view room!
