This is a strange hotel. Basically it is old and is showing the signs of being old. The main building is sort of art deco but really a concrete monstrosity. There are 7 buildings in total with two of them looking a bit like a cheap motel rather than a $500 per night hotel. The rooms are OK, clean and reasonably decorated but I guess you could get allocated a room anywhere with a very poor outlook. We specified a room in The Watkins Building on a high floor and had good views up the beach. There is only one bar and this is on the beach and is used by locals as well as guests especially on Sunday nights when there is live music. You cannot get served which is poor for guests that have paid $500 per night. Food in the bar was very average. I guess the hotel can get away with the poor standard because it is only one of two hotels in Naples that are directly on the beach. The Edgewater is on the beach but again is an Art Deco tired hotel. The Waldorf Astoria is not directly on the beach but is behind a mangrove swamp so it is very near. Although it is a couple of miles north of downtown Old Naples is the only decent hotel near the beach. Naples is a superb town and well worth visiting to see how the other half live but don't expect a good hotel on the beach. It is very annoying these days to be charged for internet access and extremely annoying to be charged $47 per day for two sun beds and an umbrellas to sit on the beach. There are not enough beds around the pools so unless you get up early and reserve beds then you more or less have to pay to sit on the beach. I certainly would not stop again as there are too many things to annoy. If it was $200 per night then maybe but not at $500.
