“Another great trip to Naples! Great Hotel!”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

Great Location, beach and room. We stayed here with a group of people for 4 nights (4/10-4/14) Room was fresh and clean on the small side but your on the beach for most of the day so we didn't mind. Stayed in the patio building looking at the Watikins building. Was kind of hoping to get a high level floor with a view of the golf course, but turned out this was a great spot. Coming back from the beach or dinner was nice to just enter through the patio with the key card. Just had to make sure blinds where closed with changing as poeple can see right through into the room walking by. The sheets could have been softer that was the only issue we had with the room.

Just had lunch at the pool bar and was pretty good, food and drinks are very pricey but its Naples. Cocktails where $12 and pop was $3 with no free refills.

Golf:
Did a round of golf at the resort in the late afternoon after we landed that day. Paid 55 bucks and sadly didn't do another round. We where going to play Saturday morning but no way we where going to pay $120 for the round in the morning. Course was in very bad shape. Dead grass and greens where in bad shape, we where told that April is when there off season starts for golf so maybe they stopped paying attention to the course but still can keep it in better shape for the price of the round. We had a car so we went to another course TPC Treviso Bay. Go to this course. Worth every penny.

We will be back to this hotel that is for sure. Great hotel 5 stars and the golf course 2 stars.

After reading reviews submitted by others I wasn't too excited about staying here for a wedding, but was pleasantly surprised.

Stayed in Watkins building. Room was updated, clean and comfortable.

The entire hotel hotel was spotless, food was excellent. Most staff that I encountered were friendly and accommodating. I did feel however that the wait staff weren't interested in providing the same level of service that the rest of the staff had.

We spent 5 nights here over Easter and the hotel is great. However, it really does depend which block you are in. We'd tried to research where was best to stay and had requested the Florida block, but ended up in the main Tower Block.

The Tower is part of the central lobby and if you don't have a gulf view you look over the street and possibly the service entrance (bins, cars going in etc.) We were not happy with this, and hotel managed to move us to the Florida wing for last 2 nights. So much better! The Florida block is a 2 storey motel style, with large outdoor space opening directly on to the lawn area then over to the pool. We would only stay in this block if we went again.

Hotel faciliities great - beach bar for lunch or tea, very good restaurant, breakfast ($25 for adult buffet) plus as useful coffee shop in foyer for snacks and simple breakfasts/pizza.

The pool is quite small and it was hard to find a sun lounger in the morning, but the kids enjoyed pool and we made camp on the beach under the shade of the palm trees (sunloungers and shades are to rent on beach too!). You could hire kayaks or a catamaran directly off the beach.

Arrived at hotel on 1st April at 2.00pm, check in was 4.00pm so the room was not ready, this was no problem so went for a drive around Naples to get our bearings. Reception did say they would call our mobile to advise when room was ready but unfortunately this did not happen. When we did get to our Gulf facing room in the Watkins building it was a very pleasant, large and airy with a balcony overlooking the gardens, pool with a view of the sea. You should note that the higher up you are the better the views (we were on the 7th floor) as all of these rooms are on the side of the building and are not front facing. Housekeeping were great, never bothered you unnecessarily if you did not want to be disturbed and always bought fresh towels. Also really liked the turn down service, more fresh towels and chocolates! The Cafe/Shop in reception had fantastic cakes and muffins and did breakfast items to eat in or take away. We did not eat in the hotel restaurants so unable to comment. Food around the pool snack bar was very nice. The location of the hotel cannot be faulted, just a short walk/drive from 5th Avenue and the hotel is actually on the beach, which is lovely. The negatives - It was a very busy hotel due to spring break and you could not get a sun bed around the pool unless you got up at the crack of dawn to put a towel on the sun lounger - despite a sign saying towels would be removed after one hour of non occupancy, this did not happen. Unfortunately the pool area did not seem large enough to accomodate the number of guests when hotel is full. Also the hotel needs to have a dedicated bar area, the lobby bar was very quiet, no one was there and the poor piano player was playing to himself. The only other area is out by the pool next to HB's on the Gulf but drinking out of plastic glasses in the day is fine but in the evening it felt like you had just come off the beach, not that you had ventured to the hotel bar for a cocktail. In addition there were weddings and conferences going on at the same time and it was difficult not to feel like you were an uninvited guest/wedding crasher, if you sat in the wrong place! It would be nice if there was a dedicated bar for the evening. However in saying these comments it did not spoil our enjoyment of the hotel, we had a lovely holiday and would return to the Naples Beach Hotel, however personally for us not at this time of year.

Room Tip: Watkins Building 7th floor upwards facing the main building

Prior to purchasing a Naples' residence, we always stayed at the Beach Club... The penthouse building room 264 was our favorite... Relax on your private balcony and watch the beach activity... At night we would close the screen and be lulled to sleep by the sound of the surf... The wait staff at Broadwell's were genuinely warm and friendly --- especially Bridgit, Basil, George and Jacque... Beatrice was our favorite room attendant---a very gracious woman! Carol's help from the concierge's desk made each stay memorable... The Beach Club is the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway... My only complaint is the additional daily charge for WiFi---for the price of the room, it should definitely be included... The best rooms are the gulf front rooms in the Penthouse building...

A number of years ago, my wife and I decided to give one another a trip every year as a Christmas present rather than something under the tree most of us forget about a month later. After booking a flight, I went searching for hotels along the southern part of Florida along the Gulf of Mexico and I found the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club. We started with a two-night, three day trip and have now expanded our stay to as many as six-nights and seven days. We liked it so much, we continue to go during spring break in March, and have added a second trip during the Columbus Day weekend. It never gets old. Owners have worked hard to offer up fresh amenities including a new pool added in the past few years as well as two new bar areas that are frequented by locals as well as the hotel guests. Rooms are clean and efficient and while not luxurious, the showers work well, the beds and sheets are wonderful and you'll find yourself spending hours and hours at the beach that is just a 2-minute walk from your room. The bar staff, in particular, have become great friends of ours and always welcome us back. Many of the staff have been there for years and speak highly of the ownership. President Mike Watkins, President of the NBHGC, is the most down-to-earth guy you could imagine. You'll see him quietly walking through the property, checking in towels if need be or stopping to pick up trash. You'd never know if you didn't see his badge that he was the head of the family-owned business there.
The local restaurant there - HBs on the Gulf - is worth a try at least one night while you're there, especially if you get reservations at the right time when the sun sets in the gulf. Folks come out and watch it every night and applaud when the sun disappears into the water. Bring your camera. There are many outstanding restaurants nearby in Naples as well.
A few other recommendations I'd make would be to have lunch at the bar, where a lot of fresh, local ingredients are used and the food quality is solid. Also check out the Seminole coffee shop that offers some absolutely killer muffins baked right on the premises - i often ask them to bake a half dozen extra for me and bring them back to Chicago. As a former food critic for a major Chicago newspaper, I can tell you i have found some wonderful things both at the hotel as well as throughout the Naples area.
The hotel is not cheap, but nothing along the gulf is. If you want to pay less, there are tons of hotels along Highway 41 in Naples and other areas but you'll never have the view and amenities that NBHGC offers. We're counting the days already for our next trip.

Arriving early afternoon during Spring Break week, there was not a lounge chair to be found at the jam-packed pools. For a hotel this size, the pool area should be larger. Pleasantly surprised that our room was well-appointed and well-sized - maybe the key is the main building. Value is inconsistent. Good value: free parking/reasonable casual dining oceanfront/$6 beach chairs/no resort fee/off season room. Poor value: high season room/exorbitant fine dining on the golf course/$120 mediocre golf/$5 bottled water. Choose wisely. All that said, we'd return off season.

Room Tip: Go for the main building, high floor.
