Flagship of all Ritz Carltons. top notch all the way. We frequently dine at Gumbo Limbo the Beach restaurant and love it.

An expensive hotel but worth it.
The least appealing aspect is the external appearance of the building, desinged by someone who suffered from obsessive repetitive syndrome and liked mud as a shade. However after that it's all up. Lovely grounds, pool area and beach. Rooms are very pleasant, fresh and spacious. Staff are unfailingly helpful and pleasant in the over the top American style.
You enter through a splendid marble lobby area with ladies in hats taking afternoon tea to the sound of a discreet musical trio and go down to the pool area where there are dozens of families with young children having a great time. Don't worry -there is a separate pool for grown ups. You have the choice of superb quality restuarants -we ate in the Grill which was top notch-down through the Terrace to the Pool Bar and an informal place next to the beach. In other words, the place caters for everyone and does it very well. A word of warning. Weekends during the high season see the place almost overrun with families. Apparently you can pay for the day if you are local. You can also be the victim of corporate events which take over half the beach and mean that you are herded into an uncomfortably confined area taking cover from stray volleyballs over enthusiastically struck. I tried to fault this hotel but couldn't.
I hadn't been left a laundry slip and phoned to have one sent up. By the time I returned to the room they had found the soiled garment, had it cleaned and returned it. It's that kind of place.

We just returned from our annual sales conference of 225 people at this hotel. The resort was beautiful, the service wonderful, and the food delicious. The rooms are beautifully decorated with luxury linens and Bulgari bath ammenities. I had three spa treatments while I was there, and all were fantastic. The spa is one of the nicest I have visited. Our group enjoyed a dinner on the beach and in the ballroom and all of the food was delicious and the waitstaff was very attentive.
Overall, this facility is wonderful. There were many kids there and they seemed to be enjoying the hotel as well. The beach is beautiful... long stretch to walk and water very warm. I would return again.

Beautiful hotel inside and out. We had booked a coastal view room through American Airlines Vacations at a substantial discount from the rates posted on the hotel website. Still expensive but worth it! We had expected a basic room but we were pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded to a club level room upon check-in. Superb service throughout our stay. Our room had an oversized balcony with views of the beach and ocean. The pool area was great. Only dined at the more causal ground level restaurant which was excellent. Direct beach access from the hotel grounds. Only negatives were valet only parking which at times backed up and not enough staff for poolside services. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed here in February 2007 for the first time. Found the service to be very good, especially at check-in and the concierge desk. We booked a coastal view room with 2 double beds. We had asked for early check-in consideration and our room was available when we arrived. The room was very comfortable, the balcony somewhat small but just fine considering the little time we spent on it. One night there was a party outside around one of the pools (which we overlooked) with a band playing. We wondered if it would be bothersome when we were ready to call it a night, but it wasn't an issue and we were on the 4th floor.

We were at the Ritz for two nights for the purpose of lounging poolside or on the beach. We had positive dining experiences at the restaurant outside near the pools, the one inside near the pools and the one outside at the spa.

The temperature of the pool we used was very warm, which helped because it was only moderately warm and somewhat windy during our stay. Loved the area that had a fooseball table, ping-pong table and pool table outdoors near the pools. The beach was great for a long walk and would be fabulous with warmer weather and less wind than we had. They had plenty of lounge chairs, umbrellas, food/bev. service down on the beach.

The gift shop on the lower level was a good way to pass 30 minutes one day. We used the spa for pedicures, facials and a soak in the whirlpool. Lovely staff in both places.

Yes, it's expensive. If you can accept that before you go, you'll have a better time while you are there.

I can't fault this hotel. Any UK visitor to the US is normally pleasantly surprised by the level of service in even average hotels, but the staff here were particularly helpful and personable. We had our three-year-old son with us and I was a little apprehensive when we arrived as I thought the hotel might be a little snooty, but without fail the staff and for the most part fellow guests took a genuine and friendly interest in him and couldn't do enough for us. Coupled with a quite wonderful seaview from our room, we couldn't have asked for more. Highly recommended.
